DV server, Whether it's down or not

DV server is currently online. And, will often be up always.

I figured a shortcut out:
I'm going to have a status image, for the DV server. Therefore, this thread is rendered close to useless. If you wanna see if it's working, look at my sig.

We currently have numerous domains registered, and you can pick from the following to connect to DV:
dv.game-host.org,
dungeonvalley.game-host.org,
dv.dnsalias.com

Well, I modified the DV Flash Client, there is now a modified version of it on the games page of the website. Unfortunately it won't actually connect to the telnet of Dungeon Valley if you run it out of Internet Explorer or Firefox. You would have to download it and run it off the website. If you download it and the Flash Player you may be able to connect now. The exe version that is on the NUNs page is a different version that is made to work and is different in several ways.

So ceadda... What did you do to break the webserver, and can you fix it?

And for DV nm .... After learning more about c++, and realizing that NM is in raw C... I feel much much less inclined to keep working in it... and I don't know how to fix it. Can we try a new codebase, or use MOOP again? PLZ! I know how to use python! and I dont know how to use C!

* Also, if people havent noticed... My first post here frequently details the Current Status of the DV Server. (yea sometimes I forget.. but it mostly works out.)

I broke it! Sorry, no we cannot change, at least not now. When we become a company we will probably start over and develop our own engine from scratch. Happy now mattress man?

Just a reminder to new players for how to join:
A: you need a telnet client. My personal choices are MUSHclient and Portal. My friend's choice is his own creation the almost-official DV Flash Client (Found on the sponsor page http://www.neejean.org/Nun.html) The first 2 are easily found through Google - search 'MUD client Portal' or just MUSHclient.

B: You need to know the connection info: The address is dv.game-host.org, and the port is 6255.

C: You need a brain to be able to install the client, create the new connection, and put in that info. If you can't even do that, then a Text Based Game might be too much for you...

D: Connect, and make your own account! Once you click connect to the server (with the afore mentioned connection options - dv.game-host.org: 6255), the server tells you what to do. Put your account name, make a pass, then create a player for yourself. (As of yet, I don't mind how many players you have, nor do I care about multi-playing)

E: Sit around, be bored, go wander through DV yourself, and admire the text-based scenery. I might join sometime... maybe. If you want to build or contribute or something, tell me about it, and you might be promoted. [But for now, my co-admin disapproves of that still]

Okay, here is the deal. No one but the five admins can be admins. Me (In game I am Ceadda), Abyll, Hason, Jargonius (In game name, hasn't joined forums because of Mission), and Hakim. While Hakim will probably never play the game and Hason rarely ever gets on, they are still admin (although we may have a stand in admin for Hakim (In fact almost certainly will have one) that will basically take on the role of Hakim but will not actually be him) and we will not have more. That doesn't mean that we won't eventually have more people who will be higher ranked, but there is currently no such rank. While everyone will be allowed to contribute and some of the building will be delegated, most will be done by Abyll, Ceadda, and Jargonius. Most of what normal people can do is build their house if they somehow gain one, and therefore it is rather insignificant.

Maybe not admins, but the five Rulers of DV. And another thing we could add is Wizards (like how other MUDs have it) or maybe just Moderator.

Well yes, I'm saying that we aren't adding anything like that right now, maybe after the game is finished. You need to set the VNC server to use port 1000 or at least the java side of it!
