Carter Jeremy Nemico walked slowly into St. Mungo's cafeteria, deep purple circles under his hazel eyes and his black hair a bit disheveled. It was his first day working in St. Mungo's Psych Ward, and although he knew it would be no easy task to endure, the first few hours were already hell. Carter was constantly moving, busy as ever, doing this and doing that. But he knew it was going to be crazy working there, no pun intended. Not everyone had the stomach to stand such a place, but the young shapeshifter knew he was different. Carter had always enjoyed helping people, either physically, emotionally, or mentally. This was probably because he felt everyone deserved some care and love; he never experienced his own as a child, after all. His supportive personality always made him wonder why he wasn't sorted in Hufflepuff when he had transferred into Hogwarts his 5th year...but that was probably because he was utterly brilliant in general. So, Ravenclaw made sense also.
He sighed, heading over to an empty table, grabbing a tray on the way in. Placing the tray on the table surface, he slowly took a seat, only to see that the tray was now filled with a variety of foods. Good, he was hungry, and so he'd eat just about anything...even crappy hospital food. But this was St. Mungo's, for Merlin's sake; he had to admit: the food here was definitely impressive. Carter had worked in some way within St. Mungo's ever since he graduated Hogwarts. First, as a volunteer while continuing his schooling at a magical university of sorts, for four years. Then, as an intern for one. And now, he officially was an entry-level Healer in the Psych Ward. It took a long time and a lot of hard work, but now at 22, he was exactly where he wanted to be. He just didn't expect to be so drained of energy so quickly on the first day.
Honestly, Carter was usually full of energy. That's probably because him being a shapeshifter kind of gave him a boost in all areas: physically, mentally, and emotionally. But being in the Psych Ward...not only was it hard work, but it was also depressing. Seeing patients there whose family no longer visited them, or seeing families visit patients and watch them leave hopeless. Or maybe it was the people who would spontaneously lash out at Carter whether through words or physical attacks, just because he was following orders regarding distribution of medication. Yeah, he experienced a bit of it as an intern, but now that he was a full-time Healer, he was spiraling down into this crazy world faster.
Sighing, he reached for the cup of cold pumpkin juice that magically appeared on his table and swallowed the contents within seconds. Ah, that made him feel a bit better. Running his right hand nervously though his black hair, he grabbed a spoon and began eating his corn quickly.

Aleina kinda shuffled her way into the hospital cafeteria. Looking around, she let out a deep sigh of relief when she realized that she didn't know a single person in there. Aly just wasn't in the mood for explaining to anyone what was going on with her, and she was sure if she had run into someone, they would ask. Hell, the way she looked right now, any of these strangers might get curious, but strangers were much easier to ignore. You know, because Aly could pretend that they didn't have feelings. Not having slept since she was in the hospital last, her eyes were bloodshot and puffy. Her hair was basically a mess. Not that it hadn't been combed, but she hadn't put any effort into styling it in any way. Aly just didn't look like Aly.
Anyways, she had come to the hospital hoping to find Rose. She wanted to see if she had found anything on her baby yet. It was when she had gotten there that she had been told that Rose had gotten into an argument with her mother and had resigned. It was bullshit if you asked her, and she would have told her mother that is she hadn't suddenly been called to go to some important medical conference. Her ass. Mrs. Avery was avoiding her and she wanted to know why. Ok, to be honest, she was worried that she might already know the answer, and had planned to just leave and owl Rose when she got home. It was her rumbling stomach that forced her to detour towards the cafeteria.
Grabbing a tray, Aly looked around for an open table. Everyone was spread out though. Biting her lip, she then tried to look for a table with the fewest people at it. Spotting one with just one man, she walked over and put her tray down on the table.
Hi... do you mind if I sit here?
Wow, she felt like she was back in school or something. Normally, she would have just sat down and not even cared what anyone said or thought. But, like we may have said, she wasn't having the best of weeks. She didn't want to add pissing someone off in the cafeteria to her growing list of issues. Especially when she recognized him as one of the healers that she had literally run past when Rose gave her permission to leave the hospital. Poor guy... she could only imagine what it was like having to work with all of those crazy people. She was definitely not crazy, she just had some kind of emotional breakdown. Yeah...
