Sleeping. That was the best way to describe Aleina's condition at the moment. Right after the events at the cemetery, Antoni had brought Aly to the emergency room at St. Mungos where they admitted her. Even though Antoni had tried to explain that it was probably stress related, they had her transported to the Potion and Plant Poisoning Floor for tests to see if she had passed out after having some kind of reaction. Of course they had found drugs in her system, but had ruled that out as a cause. Then it was off to the Creature Induced Injuries floor for some more tests. Of course, nothing had been found there either, and those guys transferred her to the Spell Damage Floor. Seriously, if Aly had been awake through any of this, she probably would have killed them all for being incompetent. In actuality, the healers were trying to be extra cautious and wanted to rule every possible option out, since it was the Chief Healer's daughter that they were working on. Still, Antoni had finally had enough, and he demanded that they stop with all of the nonsense, and put their best healer on the job.

Enter Rose McMillen. Confident that Aly was finally in capable hands, Antoni left to try to find out the truth about his son. And Aly was transported to the psych ward.

Medically, there was nothing wrong with Aleina. There was no reason why she shouldn't have woken up, other than she didn't want to. That's really what it came down to. Aly's mind wasn't ready to deal with everything that she had learned and had basically shut itself down. Could you really blame her though? Antoni had dug up their son's grave, found a book where her son's body should have been, and probably still believed her to be a monster. That was a lot to deal with, and so, she slept.

What a weekend... Rose was still going everything that had happened over the past through days. Of course, she had gotten sleep which was good and noticed around the hospital. Her colleagues were actually asking if she did something different with her make up... asses, really. She couldn't help that they kept her on her toes day in and day out, running in circles around here simply because she was in high demand... ha. They were lazy was all. She was an instant antidote to all physical injuries.

Physical injuries... so why was she scheduled to someone in psych? She went to ask the chief as to why she was there and there wasn't a reply. The hag wasn't even in the office. She asked another healer and was told that the patient was of great importance to the chief and it had been requested that the best healer was put on the job. It was known for a while that Rose was the best healer than Mungo had and they were lucky to have her working there, but none the less, she was always flattered when it was said aloud, because really, who didn't love praise deep down? She walked down the hall and into the last room on the right, knocking on the door and turning on the lights to the lowest setting possible before blinking and looking at her patient.

Was this even legal? She didn't know that she could legally treat people that she knew on a personal level. Well, not super personal, but they had gone to school together all seven years and it seemed like they really could never get away from each other. Nevermind, administration didn't really need to know that they had a history of violence with each other. Rose approached the bed, grabbing Aleina's chart and looked it over. There seemed to be nothing wrong with her, all of her labs and vitals were fine. So what the hell was she doing here? There were some markings at the bottom of her final status page, her eyes focusing in on the note. The person that brought her in said it could possibly be a stress related injury or illness. She was ready to make a head roll for the healers who were handling her before to do so many unnecessary tests, but she figured they were only doing what was deemed right. She was, after all, the Head Healer's daughter. As much as she disliked mama Avery, she couldn't deny helping Aleina. Besides, there actually seemed to be something wrong with her right now.

Rose walked up to the head of the bed, looking over her patient and bit her lip.

Ms. Avery...

She called loudly, not touching her. No response. She reached over and shook Aleina's shoulder gently. As much as she wanted to shake her as violently as possible, she couldn't. If she was going to make this work, she was going to have to be as professional as possible and not let her personal issues with Aleina cloud her mind.

Ms. Avery, if you would please, I have a couple of questions to ask you.

Aleina had probably been laying in bed, asleep, for at least two full days now. She apparently just wasn't ready to come back to reality yet. Who could blame her though, when the dreamworld she was stuck in was just absolutely fabulous. There was no baby drama. No lies, no one angry with her. Just a cute purply penguin named Cozy Heart who gave her the most amazing tour of the Forest of Feeling. They played in a waterfall and climbed trees, and Aly didn't have a care in the world. After meeting and playing hide and seek with the rest of the colorful animals in the forest, Cozy Heart then loaded Aly up into a cloud car. The cloud car then flew Aly up to some place called Care-a-Lot, which was the coolest place in the freaking world!!! There was a castle, and clouds, and stars, and the cutest little bears that she had ever seen!!! They slid down rainbows and rode around on the stars, and Aly was happy.

Ms. Avery, if you would please, I have a couple of questions to ask you.

Ms. Avery didn't please. And yes, that made sense to her. Only, it was too late. The bears, the stars, the castle, and the clouds had all just vanished, and Aly was left alone in a big, white, empty space. Feeling someone shake her, she finally opened her eyes and stared up at Rose. Remembering everything that had happened, she threw the blankets off of her and bolted up.

What are you doing here? For that matter, where am I? Nevermind, I... I have to go!

Feeling dizzy all of a sudden, Aly groaned and brought her hands up to her head. Taking a deep breath, she tried to fight it as she continued to try to get out of bed.

It would really be a lie to say that Rose wasn't startled as Aleina jolted awake. She was used to patients being startled, but for some reason, after everything that had happened between the two ladies when they were younger it made her kind of frightened if she lashed out. After all, she wasn't all too keen on the safety of anyone but her and her sister... As she saw her patient begin to try to get out of the bed, she could help but to reach over and grab her shoulders, pushing her down against the bed in the most gentle yet firm ways.

Aleina, I need you to stay here right now

she said politely, fighting her struggling.

You went into shock over something and a man brought you in. I need to know what happened to warrant him bringing you in here.

It was true. That was the professional reason why she was here. If that didn't work, she could always be honest and say that they forced her and she was none the less curious as to her old classmate's hospitalization.

Aleina just stared up at Rose for a minute, totally not expecting her to force her back down onto the bed. It was just surprising. Not to say that they were fighting right now, but everything between them had always been verbal. Never had they actually laid a hand on each other. So yeah, no matter how gentle it was, or whatever it's intent might have been, it was still surprising. Closing her eyes, Aly exhaled deeply. And that was when the tears started pouring out all over again.

You don't... understand! I... I can't stay... her... I need to... they lied, Rose... they lied... to meeeeee... and I need to... find out why!!!

Sobbing, Aly curled up on the bed and buried her face in the pillow. Past enemies or not, Aly just didn't have the energy to fight with Rose, which explained why she didn't kick her out or anything... and why she was about to actually ask for help.

I think... I think someone... here... lied to me... years ago...! I... I had a baby, Rose and... and I thought that... he died... but Antoni... dug... and he... I think that he's... alive!

What the fuck was this shit? Sorry for Rose's vulgar thoughts, but she saw Aleina just completely break down in front of her and, well, it was a bitter pill to take. She had never really seen any emotion from this girl other than rage, and that was once. Otherwise Aleina had been rather apathetic toward everything in school, or at leas what she had seen of her. And all of this... it was weird. Just really weird.

Aleina if you could please just calm down for me, please Aly.

She looked a little taken back as a baby was mentioned and she froze for a second or two. A baby? She was too young to have a baby, and as far as she knew, the woman had never gained a single pound since their graduation. Still, she looked at Aly, shaking her head before grabbing her shoulders and holding her down firmly.

Aly, please, calm down and tell me what happened again.

She pulled out her wand quickly and waved it toward the door. It shut with a quiet thud and it locked itself. Rose turned her attention back to Aly and grabbed her hand in a genuinely friendly manner, her other hand on her shoulder. Yes, rose should totally have Mama A's job.

Aleina cried for a few minutes more before she finally calmed down enough to speak again without sounding like a crazy person. Ok, Aly will probably ALWAYS sound like a crazy person, but that's a completely different topic :P Wiping her tears away, Aly looked over towards the door. She thought she had heard it shut, but she just wanted to be sure.

This is going to sound crazy. You're going to think I'm a crazy person... I can't even believe that I'm about to tell you any of this but...

Looking up at Rose, Aly sighed.

...I think maybe you can help me and... I need your help. I... after we graduated I... got pregnant. Everything was going great and as far as I knew, everything was just fine. I... didn't tell anyone because I guess I didn't want to jinx anything and because I thought that I would just like... surprise everyone. I would pop up holding my baby and be like... SURPRISE... because I guess I'm corny like that...

Aleina paused for a moment, holding back the tears that threatened to spill out again. No, she had to do this. She needed to get it all out, to tell someone the whole story. If given the choice, would she have picked Rose? Probably not, but she couldn't deny that there was something kinda comforting about her presence. Aly squeezed her hand before she went on again.

So, I finally went into labor and as far as I knew, everything was still going well. I delivered my baby, a son! I heard him cry and I thought that crying was good! But just as soon as gave birth to him, he was gone. The healer that delivered him ran out the door with him and my mother... my mother told me that there were some complications before she followed him out. Hours later... she... she...

And Aly couldn't hold back anymore, and she started crying all over again.

She... came back... and told me that... that he was dead!

Aly tried to fight for self control again, but she just couldn't. Not right away at least, but she had to finish. She had to get to the fucked up part of the story. Rose was working at the hospital at the time. Maybe she knew something... even the tiniest something. Or maybe she knew someone who would know something. So after bawling for a few more minutes, Aly continued on.

Antoni... he came to me and accused me of hiding our son. Of giving him away to some foster home without consulting him. Apparently some bitch had been snooping around my files or something and found something. I don't know, but I do know that we, we were at the cemetery and Antoni... he dug up the... he dug up the grave and my son wasn't there! It was a book! So where... where is my son?!

Rose pulled up a chair, sitting down, still holding her hand. It was funny, really. She would have thought that the woman would have squeezed it into oblivion simply for her dislike of the healer, but enough of that. As Aleina's story dug further and further, Rose's eyes got wider and her jaw falling open still ever so slightly. It was a little hard to swallow. Babies and lies... And look at where Aly had wound up. In a psych ward. Well, she was sure that if any of her healers had heard that story, that was the reason they put her here.

At Aleina's question, Rose's eyes shot to the door, thinking. There were files of everything that happened in this place. Granted, they were in the basement, all covered on cobwebs and very few people had the gall and the right key to get to them. She had the keys, but to dig in that site would be just madness. She looked back to Aleina, seeing the pain in her eyes. Surprisingly it wasn't too hard for Rose to understand the woman's pain. She didn't have a child of her own, but the thought her her possible heir being taken from her and hidden from her for years under the cover of death would tear her to bits. She was sure she would be right in Aleina's position. She looked at the door again, thinking once more.

I can try to help.

She said quietly. And it was true. She could try to help her out. She could go down there and see what the files were for Ms. Avery. She knew for a fact that her records from her birth until now would be down there. Her mother was the head healer in this mad house, so it was only natural that she brought her children here as well. She looked back to Aleina and squeezed her shoulder gently.

I can go look in the files and see what's there, Aleina, and see what I can find for you. I'm not promising that there will be any evidence that your son is actually alive, but I will see what I can do to help you.

She looked to the door and stood up.

You just absolutely cannot tell anything I just told you to your mother. I'm sure she would kill me in my robes and then fire me. That woman's just been looking for an excuse since I got here...

She added in more of an undertone. With a flick of her wand, she unlocked and opened the door, standing taller as she looked over her patient. She didn't mean for it to look condescending or anything, oh no. Of course, she was the one with authority here, but it was a safety precaution and good symbolism. Door open. Conversation terminated. End of story.

Anything else I could do for you, Ms. Avery?

Aleina nodded. of course she wouldn't mention anything to her mother about what Rose was about to do, since she knew very well that the woman was just dying for a reason to get rid of her. It was partially Aly's fault. She never made her feelings towards Rose a secret sooo, yeah. Anyways, that would be fucked up of Aly to put her job in jeopardy like that after she offered her help like that.

Thank you.

Rose opened the door and Aly knew that as the signal that they're conversation was over. Wiping and rubbing her eyes once more, Aly shook her head when Rose asked her if there was anything else she could do for her. All of a sudden though, she changed her mind.

Wait... get me out of here. Please... just sign the release papers. I think I just had some sort of breakdown, that's all. Give me some sort of calming potion or something. Please... I can't just lay here all day!

Aly looked up at Rose as she pleaded with her. In her mind she continued to beg Rose to let her go. It would be so much easier than trying to break out of here, and believe me, she would.

Of course Rose would help her. Although her mind was telling her no, everything else was screaming at her to do the right thing. This was an unjustice done to someone who she may have not appreciated, but she couldn't sit back and let it all happen in front of her. It wasn't right. She would want the same kind of help if it happened to her too. She was hesitant, however, when she requested to be freed from her bed and the hospital. It was true, there was nothing wrong with her. All of her vitals were in check, and everything had come back fine. She sighed and nodded.

I'm not supposed to Aly, but I figure since I'm going to hell anyway...

She summoned her clipboard and pulled the quill from her pocket. She scribbled something down before flipping it around and showing her.

You're free to go, Ms. Avery. I will call you as soon as I can with that final lab, but from the looks of things, you're fine.

she said, perhaps a little more loudly than she should have, but it was just for show. She flicked her wand once more and her personal effects showed up on the chair she had once been sitting on.

you have a wonderful day, Ms. Avery.

And with that, she strode out of the room, looking at her watch and hurrying down to the basement.

Aleina just couldn't put into words just how grateful she was. She never ever thought that her and Rose could actually sit and have a somewhat civil conversation and yet, she just had no problem pouring herself out to her. Things were weird lately, but in a good way.

Rose walked out of the room and Aly grabbed her things to leave. Not before changing her clothes though. If she was going to sit around and sob all day, she at least wanted to do it in the privacy of her own home. Which was why she practically ran down the hall to the lifts. As soon as she left the hospital, she apparated home.
