The Bristol Vanguard meet every Thursday at the Games Workshop in Broadmead Bristol. Details of arranging a game on a club night is as follows:
- There will be 7 4x6 tables available. - Tables 1-4 are available to be pre-booked and will be guaranteed. This will mean people coming from further away or coming late can be guaranteed a game. - Table 5 will be reserved for WFB league players regardless who played the previous week. - Table 6 will be reserved for Talisman. - Table 7 (painting table) will always be available on a first come first serve basis. - Tables 1-4 can pre-booked for any game, but smaller games may need to share a table. - Booking is on a 1st come 1st served basis, But those who did not play the previous week will take priority. Booking will be open to these members from Friday to Sun. Booking is then open to all others from Monday to Thursday. - In order to have a table booked you will first need a willing opponent. This can be done before hand at club etc or done via this thread. Those members who played previously will need to wait until Monday before they can arrange a game regardless of their opponent. - The above rule only refers to 2 players games on a 4X6 board and not those involving larger group of members such as boardgames and those that can share a table. - Always use the table you booked and not one that is less hassle to clear. This saves any confusion on arrival. - If you are unable to attend a pre-booked table then let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your slot to others.
NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU GIVE YOURSELVES ENOUGH TIME TO PACK YOUR TABLE AWAY. WHEN IT GETS RUSHED, TERRAIN GETS DAMAGED OR PUT IN THE WRONG PLACE.

I know, i know, i didn't know anything about this until last night, GW wants to sell more shit (late opening for christmas) and we all know its about the money, not us Vets.
Also remember since there is a 2 week break over xmas and new year (club nights fall on Xmas eve & New Years Eve.) So the last club night of the year will be Club on 17th December. the first of the new year on January 7th!

I would like a battle using my Imperial Guard force. It's 1239pts, but if you want a squarer number I can trim it to 1000 or 1200 (or anything really). This will be my first battle using both the latest rulebook and latest IG codex, so you might have to put up with me not fully knowing all the rules, but on the upside, it should make me easier to beat. Any takers? (please specify the number of points)
-John (haven't been a member long, although you might have played Talisman against me)

hey john mate,
I am not at the club wednesday but both me and Kev (ChillyDogg) have been playing guard for many years and can help you with any rules queries or tactical advice. Always good to see another Guardsman for the ranks!
http://commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi has lots of Imperial Guard players with lots of tactics and conversion ideas, there is ofcourse many different opinions on what tactics are best but thats part of the fun.
If you want, another week when i can make the club we can have a game and i will run you through the rules and also help with tactics and the like as we run through a game?

Thanks for all the help guys. As for the rules, I have read them (it took me a while), and I'm hoping to cement the knowledge through playing games. But hearing people's favourite tactics is always fun (and it can't hurt to pick up some tips). I look forward to that game sometime, we'll have to arrange it at some point.
As for this wednesday, I'm still looking for an opponent. Any offers?
