I've been looking a the Bristol Big'uns forum with envy as I eye up there new blood bowl league - which has an end of season trophy. And I think to myself bloody hell were better than they are, we deserve something better than they have.

Who wants a proper blood bowl league?

Lets get some numbers down then we'll discuss a format.

Im up for it so that makes 1

Four! And I reckon my mate (another James strangely) would be too, so 5.

It might be an idea to give people an idea of the level of commitment it would be. I guess this depends on the number and keeness of players somewhat but I think something like 1 game / month would be good.

I was thinking something along the lines of

Season is 3 months long - so we can do 4 per yer

Ideally 2 divisions of 4 (other wise 1 division and we'll have to play a little more than once per month - like once every 3 weeks)

Trophy for the winner

People have to stick to the same team for the season (before you say it - I know im the worst for changing teams).

If its one division then we'll have a division winner only

if two divisions then we'll have division winners and a grand final - also an option to play friendlies, so those that want to play more games can (there will be rules about friendlies).

So were looking at 1 game every 3 weeks at most, with the chance to make up for missed games.

We'll cap this at 8 coaches unless 12 people want in. With the Aim of starting November if that cool with everyone.

And we need a cool name for the League

These are just intial ideas and open to change

So those up for the league so far

Kev
Matt
Sam
Will
Alessandro

Thats five of us so far. We will limit the number to 8 to start with. So there are 3 more places left.

On the bright side, we can all trust each other here to finish what we start & we all know were a good bunch who'll have some fun doing this.

Ideally I think we should start in November, so that gives us another week to drum up some interest.

Sam, as your our local commitee member can you hit the club up for a worth while tin cup.

As Shiv is due to drop a sprog any day now it might be best if someone other than myself is in charge of keeping track of results and stuff. Babies = loss of sleep and that = mistakes.

Any volunteers?

Evening all,

New to the forum,

If your okay with some fresh faces with who are learning to play blood bowl again, Myself and possible one more would be interested?

I used to play 3rd Edition at GW store in Bath, had a skaven and Dark Elve team.. years later and with all my stuff packed away in Bath, I've currently cheated and brought 3 teams painted (typical ebay fashion)

We're been playing the LRB5+ rules, and as the rule book is a little all over the place we have been using the Yorkshire Blood Bowl League to learn from.. much more straight forward we found!

Check it out here Turf edition here

http://www.tybbl.org.uk/resources/

We haven't played in a formal league yet.. just turning up to each others house and given each other a good kick.. well me giving them a kicking and there elve teams running the ball..

Anyway.. here I am.. hopefully if this takes off I would like to part take if the dates are okay.. married.. so ball and chain needs notice..

Also on Hols on 7th - 14th, just so you know now....

Thanks for reading

Stephen or Eski will be fine

I'm happy to act as commishioner if everyone's alright with that. Let's start in a fortnight's time with as many games as possible to get things going - say 'I' if you're around and I'll sort some match-ups. After that I'll make a fixture list and coaches can arrange when to play between themselves. As for a leauge name I was thinking BUBBL (Bristol's Ultimate Blood Bowl League).

LR 5.5 rules so any Slaan, Chaos Pact or Underworld teams are lecome (Slaan in particular look very itneresting - tempted myself) and if everyone could use the team roster available from http://www.arosbb.dk/ it would be helpful for keeping track of teams. till looking for more players too - Liam, Tom, Ben(s) interested?

I was wondering what people think about starting the league with a few skills - I'd like to play some games at higher TRs and this would be a good way of getting to this stage quicker.

Welcome Eski, we're always interested in fresh faces at the club and it sounds like you're coming along at just the right time for blood bowl action. If you and your mate can commit to 1 game a month for the next few months then you're in! Don't worry if you've not played competitively before - we're a friendly and patient bunch who'll be happy to get you into some of the games finer points (how to kick really big chunks out of the opposition). If you could make it down next thurs I'm sure someone would be keen to give you a welcoming game.

And thatks for the link to the yorkshire BB group - it looks amazing - who knows in a year or two something like this could be going on in the SW wot with the links we are forming with local clubs.

I'm happy for Will to run it so I'll officially nominate him - who'll second that?

5th November Shiv is having a C-section so my baby girl will be born, so I'll prob miss out on getting a game that week (I know, I know shock horror I'll miss blood bowl).

Since new dads get kicked out around 9pm, I'll be heading for the store (Its a Vanguard night) to say hello, watch the end of a couple of games and see who's up for the pub to officially wet the baby's head - thats the tradition.

The BUBBL sounds cool, we like our cool names for competions.

Skills - since skills and improvements can be represented by money (ie 20,000gp for basic skill etc) why not let people spend somewhere around 100k to 150k on skills on top of the usual team. I know you'll end up with some really bent teams, but that will just make it funnier when someones Blodge Ogre dies. Just an idea and it would mean teams start at around 115 to 120, which is the point they start to become good.

Eski - Hi, your more than welcome as is any Blood Bowl nutter. All we ask is (1) if you start you finish (2) Keep it fun (3) you let me win and I kick shit out of your team lol only joking. If your friend wants in, tell him to log in here quick. It makes it much easier for Will if everything can be done on here.

I'll twist Jay's arm tonight for some love on the website.

Hi there,
just to let you know my preferences:

1) Until 15th November I am in 40k training so I will hardly have any time for BB (and lots of work to do as well ..damn work....and a new house to find ...damn house..)

2) I would start with standard 1,000,000 as normal. I say this because some teams would become very hard to stop if we allow players to choose to add skills to their players. (E.g gutter runner with block, dodge, sprint and sure feet , etc. etc). Randomness is crucial to preserve balance.

3) I would make MVP assigment random with a D20 for the reason above.

4) Will is a great choice as a commissar.

5) 2 division of 4 with return would be ideal so 6 games and top 2 in every division go to play-off

6) I would not constrain the playing at the shop on Thursday (E.g. if someone wants to enjoy playing with me on a Sunday in one of Baths' country pub with a pint of real ale, I think it would be a shame to forbid it!)

My 2 pences

1) As were looking at about 1 game per month I think its safe to say your 40k training wouldnt interfer with blood bowl - so no worries there

2 & 3) any ideas for a compromise between 2 players preference

4) Will has officially been voted in - congratutions

5) I'll let Will sort that kind of thing out as he's now in charge - My 2 cents worth is I'm flexible in this regards

6) I'd agree as long as you play some games at Vanguard, just because its a Vanguard league and we'll be asking them for money soon.

The above are just my views as Will is in charge and has the final word

Thanks for the welcomes..

I'll do my best to have half your team members in the KO box at the end of each match.. where they are safe!

Could of things?

A) Are we running illiegal procedure rules, strictly?

cool.gif Some house rules run a fixed free 5 fan factor, what are you views on that?

C) with regards to skills.. one soluction is each player gets one one single dice skill, so you can't pile them onto you main scoring player..

D) also a suggestion for skills.. could be a challenge, but a team can only have up to 4 players with the same new skill when picking up skills.. ie up to 4 players could pick up guard.. anyone else needs to find something else.. Not sure if this works practice, its something I heard from a podcast I listen too..

I'm assuming we stick to one team?

Just some suggestions really.. I'm easy with any rules you guys lay out.. I will be free in two weeks.. I will try and come down next Thursday to say Hi..

Looking forward to the BUBBL
