Thanks! Ha, I wish! This was a spur of the moment kind of thing, but I kind of like this character. We'll see if she appears again. :wink:

Birdfire - January 14, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)
oh! oh! I hope she does!!! =D

and she only looks evil cause it looks like she's gonna ATTACK! HIT THE DECK! *trips*

True Beast - January 14, 2007 09:50 AM (GMT)
I interpet this totally different.. I see the Joker of Diamonds with many colors. Controlled, forced, loved, hated, and running. It seems like she doesn't feel like she is getting anywhere no matter how fast or how hard she runs. She's light at the feet. She's imprisoned in the same world everyday. Stripped of her opionion and she can't really say how she feels. Also, it's very hard for her to hear herself think. She can't concentrate and she might be losing hope.. Don't ask. I can see so much with hardly nothing. Proof that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Love the work. I expect more soon.

I don't know exactly what these characters are going to be a part of--I don't have the time for a fic (it wouldn't be a fanfic unless it wasn't my idea, right? ;) ) or a continuous comic, but they deserve names.

The female marionette is Fortuna, and in this picture, is her brother Pingo and his Monkeybird, Malcom.

They're both wearing masks. Pingo's "stitches" are really slits in the mask (similar to Fortuna's); he can see out of them just fine, the third eye is for...I don't know, misdirection? They're both puppets... or are they human?

Mmm, I have one, maybe two more characters in mind. We'll see, we'll see...

Birdfire - January 16, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)
That's awesome once again XD These characters look so cool, so evil looking, They also look powerful XD
Malcom = <3

Babyburbur - January 17, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
These are so cool, Fortuna looks really good! I thought Malcom was a snowman. XD

True Beast - January 18, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
I think he is younger then his sister and him and his pet share a relationship sorta like a man and a dog. I can see the Monkeybird talking for some odd reason. Hm.. awesome DB.

That is some awesome art...and on PSP 9? Wow.

Okay, now you're just scaring me. D=

Yes, he is the younger brother; yes, Malcom is like a pet; and yes Malcom can talk. Dangit, you took the surprise out of one of the comics. =P

It's not even Paint-Shop Pro, it's just... Photo-Paint. O_o

Some no-name program, really. But it's not too shabby. ;)

Now that Mid-Terms are finally over, I can get back to working on this. *taps fingers together*

Excellent...

True Beast - January 19, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry DB! XD They say I ruin these kinda things. But I really like 'em so far. Totally awesome and original. :D

More stuff to interpret!

I'll let you guys guess what's going on before really explaining it. It'll be more fun that way. :3

I'll have to link the picture this time though, since you have to zoom into the near 1000x950ish picture to catch all of the details.

Ohho! I love it DB.

The colors catch my eye and I love her hair and clothing.

I can see this girl is like a more bubbly Terra - happy, to happy.

She is in a sand box and she looks oblivious to her surroundings. From the title I gather she is older - and maybe it's raining in her world, but she is just imagining it all sunny.. Then again, it could be the other way around.

It's cute and shows yours never to old.

Sorry I couldn't get back to this post earlier--lotsa stuff to do means more things to procrastinate on. XD;

It's interesting you bring up how there might be two worlds--I didn't think of it that way when I made it, but nostalgia is a type of psychological escape, isn't it?

I used the bright colors to especially emphasize the childhood theme--didn't everything seem colorful when you were a kid? All the picture books and cartoons and toys... that's why I put so many colors into that one. The textures in her hair and clothing were alternatives to just solid coloring, and it works quite well. I can't recall the first cartoon that started using that (you could always notice as the character walks around, the patter would "move"), but CN's Chowder reminded me that I can be creative with even the background--something I suck at. D;

Anyway, I just re-did one AP Art assignment, Finished the next assignment, and am working on another assignment to "make up" for a... totally bogus grade but whatever... *mutters* That one's not due tomorrow, but I'd like to get it done as soon as possible to make my transcript shiny-new for college.

So!

Hey thats some pretty sweet stuff. You got some awesome vector work.

True Beast - December 21, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)

I had an idea with it, but didn't know how to really portray it... but Ms. Leivers ended up really liking the revised version!

...Which I just revised again. D;

It's not too different though--I'm too lazy to re-upload it, but the latest-latest version of "ENVY" is on dA now.

I hope I don't get sick of vectors by the end of this. There's... 11 or 12 total I had to do... o.o

Might submit one of them for a scholarship(s), but I don't know yet.

I'll try to use my vacation time to do a couple to save myself work for later. *_*

I'm not familiar with the character, but your art is just as good as I always remember, only improved. Very good. ^^

True Beast - February 11, 2008 05:47 AM (GMT)
I love her expression! You did very awesome with this DB. One minor question, remember that thread you had going on capturing other peoples are styles and making them your own kinda thing? Will you ever do that again? I loved everything you did in that thread.

It's funny you mention that, I was thinking about starting that up again the other day. XD

I'm sort of out of ideas on styles to adapt to, though. I avoided doing the Titans in anime style since it's been done so many times. I think I was supposed to experiment with a Butch Hartman style (Fairly Odd Parents/Danny Phantom) and... something else. Suggestions are nice though (just as long as it's not too ambiguous. Or if it's Spongebob. No Spongebob.). ^^

True Beast - February 11, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)
Danny Phantom would be awesome. So would Hey Arnold!

Get in line. :P

Yes, true, but in a simple picture like this there really isn't a need to worry. You captured everything in the background you need. It's super cute and not complicated at all. It would kinda draw attention away from her if you did to much in the background.
