Begin by releasing your newly created Cybot from the moulding machine. You must then care for your Cybot- it is a robot with emotions and needs to be kept topped up with fuel, repaired when it breaks down, and stimulated by playing a ball game.
Your Cybot shows four faces (emotions)- normal, happy, hungry and angry. It develops one year every two days of activity. You can check its age, emotional state and power at any time. In its normal state, Cybot can spend some time on its own, but in other states it needs your attention if it is to develop and survive. 1. Use the arrow buttons to select 1-1 Cybot Trainer. Press Return to start. The moulding machine releases a new Cybot. In its normal state it shows a smiley. A flashing heart indicates it is happy. If it keeps opening its mouth, it is hungry for power. A sad face indicates anger. 2. To check on your Cybot's state, press the down arrow button to select the menu, then press it again to scroll through the menu options. 3. With the arrow under the smiley, press Return to display Cybot's age. The scale bar from 0 (all white) to 6 (all black) indicates age 0-6 years old. NOTE: For now, don't press ESC while playing Cybot Trainer, as Cybot's age may be reset to 0. Memory on the EEPROM board (coming later) will improve this game and store scores for Cybot Racer and Munchbot. 4. Select the heart from the menu to show your Cybot's emotional state (scale 1 to 6). Successfully playing the ball game once increases the value by 1-2. Missing a feed or dirty exhaust gas reduces the value by 1 as your Cybot becomes unhappy. 5. Select the battery to check your Cybot's power. Playing the ball game uses power and the value drops by 1. Refuelling increases the power. 6. Select the ball to play the game. Press Return to start. Use the arrow keys to move. Catch as many falling balls between Cybot's antennae as possible. Catch more than 25 and your Cybot's emotional value is increased by 2. Catch more than 15 and the value increases by 1. Balls speed up the more you play. 7. If it needs maintenance, your Cybot's eyes look weary and its antennae droop. Select the repair mode (spanner) and press Return. 8. After refuelling, Cybot emits exhaust. There are four grades of emission. If the air becomes very dirty Cybot's filtration system will get blocked. Exhaust stays on screen until you blow it away with the fan. 9. Refuel your Cybot by selecting the lubricant/fuel icons. There are 3 kinds. Refuel once to increase the power by 1. Fill up too often and Cybot will shake its head. Continue to give too much fuel and it will emit very high levels of exhaust. 10. As your happy Cybot develops, it gets hardware add-ons. It is fully developed at age 6 and will then be customised to best reflect its personality. 11. Neglect Cybot and it will look sad. Angel wings indicate it has suffered an unrecoverable malfunction. Restart the game for a new Cybot. |
