Well, after playing the very excellent 'Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth' by Bethesda, I've decided to take up that offer of hosting a P&P Call of Cthulhu RPG again, the BRP version, not the D20 version. Raise a hand if you're interested.

Find a CoC character generator here.

Get introduced to the concept and find quick-start rules here.

Oooh. I've never actually played Call of Cthulhu; I've been running games for years now. Tell me more, I'm more than likely in on this!

I've never hosted a CoC game before, or a P&P RPG at that, so this is as much as a learning experience for me as it is for first-time players.

I'd preferably want a group going, let's give this more time before I drop down the details. I'll most likely be going with 'The Haunting' though, with the Quick-Start rules. If it's successful, I'll buy the book.

Um... thank... you?

"The Haunting"? I don't think I've seen that one. Is it a modification of the "Corbitt House" scenario?

I'm not so much hiding, as I am drifting in and out of this dimension of existence.

Yay for ethereality!

Okay, re-looking over some stuff for this CoC campaign. Who's still with us?

EDIT: So far, I bet Sirence is still with me. And Soursha, seeing as you are a pro-Keeper, and probably know the Corbitt House inside and out, I'm not sure where you are. I'd change the scenario, but the Corbitt House seems tackle-able and somewhat familiar. Sorry. sad.gif

I'm in! The Corbitt House has been the staple beginning for CoC since the very first edition (the boxed one). Everybody's who's done any amount of Cthulhu investigating at all has played it or run it at some point. One of my players claimed (very believably) he'd played it seven times over still managed to get himself killed in the you-know-where when I ran it for the third time (for the benefit of some very new players - it IS "Cthulhu Investigating 101", after all)

It's not about winning! Consider me as a "heel", if you will. I'm more than willing to screw things up by doing something really daft, even knowing the consequences in advance.

And I'm hardly likely to be such a bad roleplayer as to point out the entire plot as soon as even parts of it are revealed. Look at it this way; I'll be helping you out in some ways. I'm in, don't worry about it.

I'm still in. I've wanting to do something with Call of Cthulhu for a while. smile.gif

Don't worry too much about trying to get us going real fast, though. I'm sure we can I'll find things to keep us busy until then. wink.gif

Awesome, with special thanks to Soursha. Anyways, I'll need a day or two to prep up, then I think I can start it. I'd like each of you to post at least once a day, and keep it even - meaning, only one action post for each of you per the other person's posts. So if Soursha posted, she wouldn't be able to post another action until Sirence has. And vice-versa.

Soursha, do you think it'd run smoothly for two people? It's not a huge amount, but I think it's all we're gonna get right now.

Two people can work fine, but IIRC (even though I've not looked at the scenario for roughly 12 years), there are parts were designed for 3-4 characters, so they might need to be taken down a notch or two.

Ok, at least one post per day. Seems fine to me. What timezone are you guys in? I'm at GMT +0. May be a little spotty around weekends owing to me being drunk or hungover.

Oathin, can you post a synopsis for the introduction so that we can start thinking about characters and such?

I've had an idea, but I've no idea whether it will work with the given scenario, and I'd much rather work with you, Sirence, on something plausible than come up with something crazy out of the blue.

Ack! I missed this! Sorry! I'll post up a character tonight!

I'm thinking of something along the private investigator kind of line, a bit of a Miss Marple type, but younger, and a bit of a flapper, too.

Just a quick thought to be getting on with.
