I wrote this for my school's Writer's Club and plan on submitting it to our literary magazine. As of yet I have no title in it.

Sing me a song, a song of war.
Sing to me, he had said, of a man.
ou boulomai aeidein soi*
Sing me a song, a song of despair.

A lone voice echoes out into the darkness.
It cries for quiet, for peace,
But the machines of war still turn,
And the reaper descends for the harvest.

Sing me a song, a song of glory.
Sing to me, he had said, of a man.
aisomai soi**
Sing me a song, a song of greatness.

A lone rose stands out of the ashes.
Its beauty is radiant, is perfect,
And is made more beautiful by the scene around it,
And I am compelled to reach for it.

Sing me a song, a song of peace.
Sing to me, he had said, of a man.
aisomai soi
Sing me a song, a song of love.

A storm flares red and white out into the night.
It screams promises of destruction, of death,
But I stand my ground, and I shall not falter,
And I would sooner die than let harm befall this rose.

Sing me a song, a song of time.
Sing to me, he had said, of a man.
aisomai soi
Sing me a song, a song of fate.

*This Greek line means, "I do not want to sing to you."
**This Greek line means, "I will sing to you." A note on the spelling of "aisomai": Greek, like Hebrew, but unlike English, has inferred sounds at times. This is one of them. Written in Greek, it would start alpha-sigma, not alpha-iota-sigma. The Latin "i" is there only for pronounciation purposes.

Any comments are much appreciated. ***I have edited this poem and fixed the wording error.
