Title: Car Exterior Teflon PPS coating
Description: Car Shine n Protect
Nizmo - November 12, 2009 06:37 AM (GMT)
Many of us thinks that the 5-6 layers of the cpaint coating could actually protect the car from rust and weather abuse. This poll would show how particularly Sylphy owners willing to go beyond regular maitenance -not only on basic oil changing and engine maitenances but putting in some taught on giving the exterior and interior the extra protection and care. Happy polling mates.

I vote NO. If the thing can DIY ( like car wash/polish ), now will do it myself
( economic no good, market very slow, no infrastrature projects, except KOREK LONGKANG & POTONG RUMPUT, don't know from where our Minister get the PICTURE market is recovery,may be bcoz they are holding the IRON BOWL :D :D :D ).
Only those routine service/maintainance etc will hand over to professional.

Steven Aguilar Gan.

Guilty, another voted for "Not bothered". WHY ?
I have 2 N16 Sentras sitting at home (1 is on the way out, to be replace by the KG11 Sylphy). The remainder unit, was hand taken by me all these while, wtih a combination of Autoglym (major) and Meguiars(minor), for the past 6yrs (though my DIY detailing experience tracks way back). I can assure you, if you do take well care of the car in/out, yearly polish/wax maintenance, and only use quality cloth and shampoo; with the right procedure, the paint will last you for quite a while.
Many of these latest technology, eg. Teflon PPS coating, boast a tremendous amount of "low maintenance" etc. BUT, did they ever remind you, you have to revisit them for "relayer the sealant" ? I don't know much about this, but given the right detailer hand, your car can look as good as new everyday too, without the associated cost, only at the expense of your time and energy, sometimes your back...ouch....
BTW, did anyone ever mentioned, re-spray a C-segment size car, usually cost approx. 'end 1K' to beginning of '2K', I'm talking about Glasurit quality :P

Don't use rotary buff machine, unless you have decent training and experience. If you insist, find a experimental boot to try.

Totally agree with fooyc. Better do it manually coz we are not those cari makan Professional :D :D :D .
My friend use the machine to do the polish on his " LATIO " sport. Guess what, he has dented the rooftop due to the machine too powerful ( I do not know what brand ).

I presume you meant Black & Decker products.

Just saw a friend's car who did Sierra Glow (RM700 - 5yr warranty). For that amount of money, I am not impressed with the work.
The original paintwork (latest Camry) is poor when compared to Sylphy's with uneven paint thickness especially near the curved areas. After Sierra Glow, I still find the Sylphy paint is smoother (when viewed under the light).
The other point to note is that even if you do not need to bring the car for recoating (in the case of Sierra Glow), you are not allowed to polish the car or risk removing the coating. I don't know about everyone else, from time to time, I do end up getting minor scratches from parking lots or cat claws which can easily be removed by polishing. With the long lasting sealant, I will have to resend the car for "fix" to remove these minor blemishes.

Me guess PPS also need maintenance for a certain period.. :rolleyes:
Coating a car may give us a little easy life but waxing the car by ourself might be time consuming....

Anyone visited the Gzox website yet? Look at the mirror polishing. Each coat last approximately 2 years. A couple of polishing like this can strip the car paint hmmmm
Anyway, coating is not for me. Everytime balik kampung, the cats will attack my car. With coating means that I will just have to bear the scratches or spend more money to send back to shop for polishing and coat touch up. bawling

RM2K is only for their Crystal or Real Glass coating which only last for 12 months. And bear in mind, the 12 months is based on weather in Japan.
Their top of the line, Diamond or Hi-Moh coat is almost RM5K!!!! I think i can respray my whole car twice for that amount stonned
Their parent company, Soft 99 has a version called Mirror Shine which is a Wipe On type of sealer. This one they claim can last for 12 months too. Cost is just under RM100 during sale at Jusco :rolleyes:
It's really easy to use and so far I've used it in the engine bay and around the door frame area. After 8 months, the white coloured panels have not discolourized top

Too shiny is sometimes not so good either. Some jealous fellow may help to add extra side strips, aka scratches :doh:

I had mine done with Shine & Shield, was about RM1k (due to bodykit extra charge) with windshield treatment. It's more than half a year now and all i can say is, worth every single cent! Have not done any polish/wax since then.
Pros:-
1. Save money buying wax/polish or sending for wax/polish;
2. Save time waxing/polishing, just wash and wipe!
3. No more watermarks (well not 100% but i dare to say 95% no watermarks);
4. No more swirl/hairline marks;
5. No more Rain-X or Z or whatever;
6. Absolutely shiny!
I'm going back for touch up treatment next week, estimate about RM200, not sure, have not asked. Recommended once a year. But if add up all the cost compared to regular wax/polish, it's worth it! Much better results!

it's all about money: money: money:

Taken after the second treatment, about 9 months after initial treatment.
