Anyone installed this in their car?
The only thing I'm afraid of breaking down is the gearbox as I travel long distance to KL often.

Hi bro,
Just FYI I have install it on my ride brand is Parma-Cool from UK (they are the big brother for Cooling System),
I trusted tis brand cos I have sold more than 200 to 300 over set for my EX-car club with not
A single defact or mufuction on this brand & I'm still helping them to order.
Over here we are charging them $238 with installation on my Ex ride brand ,as for the current ride job is abit turf have to dismatal abit more parts & more time needed so is about $260 sin also need to top or fill the CVTF or ATF oil needed for the cooler.
Just FYI after installing can feel abit more responsive on the gearbox !
Personal point of view after installing "NO REGRETS" !!!

Cheers....!!!

Good to hear that. Where did you place the cooler? In front of radiator?

Went to Nissan Service Centre to get my steering coupling replaced. While waiting for it, went to the sales centre at the front to view the new Teana.
Open up the front hood and realised that all the new 2.0 and 2.5 v6 comes with gearbox cooler. It's located in front lower part of the radiator.
Looks like they realised that the load on the gearbox is higher now with the heavier bodyweight and placed it as stock.

I think gearbox cooler is common, the problem is once install need to top up the CVT oil and hence break the seal on the cvt box.

A lot of places selling this.

Question is invest in extended warranty or this for gearbox.

Extended Warranty:- limited milleage+ years, more expensive, need to service at tan chong exactly at service interval ... but more coverage.

Gearbox cooler:- Prolong gearbox life, cheaper but item only protect gearbox.

I was thinking if whether Teana's cooler can also be used. Then can ask Tan chong to install and top up fluid.

Found out some useful information with regards of this Auto Gearbox Cooler.

Today I went to a radiator shop whom I am familiar with, and ask him about installing this cooler for auto gearbox. So he took a look at my car, and he told me it can be done, but might need some modifications.

First of all, our gearbox already has a cooler, which is water cooled. Usually, the oil from the auto gearbox will be directed to the radiator to be cooled in the radiator. However in our Sylphys, the water is run from the radiator TO the cooler, which is attached to the gearbox. Here's a pic.

He told me that to use another Cooler, have to remove this existing cooler, (probably) modify an adaptor to replace (cover) it with suitable ATF inlet/outlets.

Iceman88, or anybody else who did this before, can post a photo of this section to see how the installers did it? Thanks!! top:

hmm looks very complicated.
FYI, lancer which is using exactly the same gearbox as sylphy (jatco) , some of the members are also using aftermarket cooler... don't know whether it's the same setup as us.

http://www.lancer-nation.com/t270-cvt-tran...sion-oil-cooler

I'm considering to install as I drive faster now in the highways.

mikeis18 - September 10, 2011 01:35 PM (GMT)
wouldn't know until I see the lancer's actual stock ATF cooler bro. its either the cooler is built in to the radiator or attached to the Gearbox like our Sylphy... I wanted to install too at my friend's shop, after hearing good reviews here, but since my friend told me this, I thought better to see those who've already installed before going for it. biggrin

mikeis18 - September 10, 2011 03:04 PM (GMT)
finally found something of relevance here;

installed cvt oil cooler on DE

this guy replaced his original CVT oil cooler with a CVT oil cooler from a lancer gts with remote lines to direct the CVT ATF into an external cooler. I'm gonna take a look at my Sylphy tomorrow to check if there are remote line. can't see any from the top obviously... hoping for a nice surprise and find some plugged holes there :)

thanks for pointing out that our gearbox is the same as lancer's, Vigilant, else I wouldn't be able to find this. shakehands

Looked into it... it's tight around the corners... but bad news, there's no existing remote line holes there :( There're 2 sunk in spaces for the remote line holes, but no holes. There's a sticker with the letter W on it that I can see, but it's too tight for me to take a picture...stonned

Wondering should I go ahead and open up the CVT cooler to take a closer look next.. hmmm...
