xtec - August 22, 2010 07:01 AM (GMT)
most of the time, the rattle sound is produce by below culprit .

1. dismantle both side rubber & cover.

2. push up top dashboard cover with both hands at cluster gauge area, gently. i never take this photo due to no hand.

3. once top dashboard are up, do not take out top dashboard. dismantle aircond sensor cable, as shown from below.

4. once dismantle, gently pull dash board toward ur side.

5. after top dashboard are out, the thing look like this.

6. top dash board cover.

7. this is the culprit, can u see. the guide pin already been rubbing with hole for guide pin to insert. that why u can hear annoying rattle sound from ur dashboard.

8. so i decided to wrap the 3 guide pin with span & tape it.

9. insert it back last out first in.

10. conclusion:

a: guide pin rubbing with hole pin.

b: one of the hole pin, middle hole is actually is a metal part. will cause guide pin rubbing again it & create rattle sound.

basically any contact or anywhere with gap is possible to give out rattle sound, just a matter of time..... <_<
Just put some double sided tape in between the gaps to eliminate future sound even though there isn't any yet... you'll never know. :D

if not sure better be careful... plastic parts easily break if not careful... one good trick is to see/learn from the SC tech when they service ur ride... they will tell/show u how to do if they have the time... ;)

Hi All,

wau, this is good info top: top: so basically that is the culprit. But then again I don't dare to dismantle ler on my 5 months old car, scare that I will break any plastic pin.

Anyone here have tried to settle this in SC? I went there for my car service and already told them about this dashboard sound but still the same.
