Most people Im sure will look down on the thought of an american version of battle royale made by the americans.Same principal with collars and the game but not the same class or teacher does anyone think it would be worth a watch? Anythings to avoid? Most likely this has been covered but I was just thinking what it would be like..I think itd be a good movie as long as they dont try and directly copy the japenese BR..For exsample an American Kitano,Shuya and others..Just a group of average kids fighting it out with the collars in the game except this time Im thinking there is a game winner. No Escapes although Im sure they would be attempted..So free youre thoughts people!

That's what OBRs are for. American studios don't have the balls to release an unbutchered BR remake, especially one where only one wins.

yeah the closest thing to that is a french one or one from a Hong Kong Studio but America thanks to "Soccer Moms" and "Those Motherfuckers in the goverment" wont even let it come out unless its a direct to DVD release and still it wouldnt get placed in major retail chains.

Why are those in quotation marks? Also, the government has nothing to do with it. They can't do jack about BR, banning it is unconsitutional, and there isn't really anything else you can do to get rid of a movie.

Hey guys, as far as I know, that stuff about BR being banned in the states is untrue, they just cannot find a distributor/they don't want to find a distributor for the movie itself. At least, this is what I've been told.

*pounds face on desk*
I...WAS NOT talkking about BR being banned in the states I WAS TALKING IN GENERAL there has been movies banned in the states!

and if they made a americanized verion of it people would rally to have it banned and knowing the Redneck that we voted into office it could get banned if a remake was made (the remake of coarse)

Being a Canadian, I can't comment, but...

in my opinion if they let a Clockwork Orange into the states, they wouldn't have a problem with Battle Royale.

Remember that A Clockwork Orange doesn't have kid deaths of BR's calibur, if at all.
Edit: On the other hand, if they didn't ban the Japanese BR, I don't see why they'd have a probelm with an American one.

I always thought it would be good to have a yearly series. Like a real game but lasts alot longer, say an hour a week....Much like Lost. And every year have a new game with new students and teacher, or maybe the same teacher, maybe people could actually place bets on who they think would win?

I really don't think any american Hollywood film studio would have the balls to do BR and not completly butcher it, besides, at the moment in Hollywood, 18 rated films don't seem cool anymore, every horror movie is having its scary parts taken out so that 13 year olds can watch it, in my opinion, its a good thing that there isn't a chance of Br being remade, i mean look at the fucks ups they made of Ju-On: the Grudge and Dark Water (ok The Ring was fairly decent...but only just)

Strangely enough, BR is released in the UK. you'd think that the BBFC would cut it to ribbons...it took 30 tears to get Texas Chainsaw Massacre over here _

ps- no BR isn't "banned" in the US, it just hasn't been released:

The whole idea of a BR new class would cost alot but a tv series sort of like the manga..the weekly or daily installment of BR would be amazing to watch! Just get into college to check the bodycount and see if youre favourite student is still alive. No amount of plot twists and a new influx of charecters it would be great and itd be affordable most of the time except for the beginning where youd need the extra staff of the Army and the choppers and other things..Any comments on this people? BR tv series? *Drool*

I always thought SOTF might make a good miniseries on HBO (the content isn't really a worry, HBO never censors their shows or movies). And it could raise BR awareness if a "Based on Battle Royale" tag was put in the opening or something.

HBO series of SOTF. That would be awesome. I should like go to some producer for HBO and send him this site and tell him this would make an awesome miniseries...actaully...I might just do that....doubt it will work...but at least it would be fun to see the persons reaction.
