Most of us here have heard of the dreaded M.S. before, but for those of you who don't know, a Mary-Sue is a character who is basically the embodiment of yourself (moreso, what you'd like to be) placed into a story. Common traits of Mary-Sues include unfathomable beauty, unrealistic talents, and oftentimes, Mary-Sue characters cause other characters to do non-canonical things when they're around.
I got to thinking about it, so I ran my V2 character Whitney Acosta through this Mary-Sue test for curiosity's sake. Whitney wound up scoring a 21 overall (with all the additions and subtractions made), which isn't too bad considering I had to tack on 20 points because she shares my first name. So if I've piqued your curiosity as well, how did your characters fare? And don't lie. If you have to lie on a Sue test, I already know the answer. :P |

I scored a 2 for one character, which is an anti-mary sue. Doesn't mean it's good, in fact, usually a balanced character is preferred, but eh. At least it's not a Mary Sue.

Alexander got six points (three for having a nickname, I added a point to be safe since I didn't know if "Blade" was considered a "dangerous nickname", and two points for being "an outlaw or member of organized crime", again to be safe since he's a gang leader.). I'll run Walter, Richard and some of my upcoming characters through it later.

Here are my scores for the remainder of my characters:
Maggie Heartgreeder: 4 Ricky Callahan: 5 Eric Silvstedt: 0 (of course, this could be due to lack of development) Ali Grayston: 9 Tanesha Lexx: 0 (once again...) Also, I'd like to inform all of you that Lien and I are currently working on a Mary-Sue test that is specifically for SOTF. Expect scores on that to be significantly higher for everyone, because we're going through and picking out all the "no-no's" that people tend to do in their profiles to make their characters stand out more. It'll be up in a bit. |

Is the character educated despite living in a time or place where education is not widespread?
Does Jersey count? And also, Bryan: 30. I'm not surprised; he's my damn flagship. Also the fact that I didn't bother to test Nich or Andrew makes it pretty obvious. *sigh* It's the little things like, 'can your character rap?' |

General Sue litmus tests are notoriously unreliable so I wouldn't put much faith in it, your best bets are fandom-specific tests, since with general tests what would be a Mary Sue in one fandom, wouldn't in another
example: Ever the weakest Dragonball Z character would, in any other fandom be a Sue, but in thier own fandom they're only barely above average. Daniel got 27 because he has the same name and some of my interests. Yuu got 1, poor baby he's boring *hugs Yuu* Sasoru got 47 because he's a genius who's been in a rock band and has unusual eyes. More then anything it's the writing that indicates a Sue, a character that was abused as a child sin't neceserially a Sue, a character that constantly angsts about how twagic!1 her past was but how she's overcome it to become a top model or something would be a Sue. XD I just put Gackt through, he scored 148. |

Oi, Julia got 27. Well, at least with the considerate amount of chaos that goes on in her prestory I got a surprisingly low score. They didn't have any scores for "Is your fraternal twin sister a psycho who used to be sweet but was transformed into an evil villain by a spirit of a mad-man and she killed your character's family and threw your character off a cliff?".

Pretty sure that qualifies as a "tragic" and/or "angsty" past. :P

Might as well post up some of my results. This is taking into account all the events that have happened in either the official v1 or v2 RP's or the other RP's.
Madelaine Shirohara - 16 This is taking to account that she was raped in-game and both Hawley and Chance were crushing on her at the time. Matthias Kovalenko - 11 Taking to account to an event in the past he was guilty over, and his talent in music. Nanami Nishida - 5 For having an 'angsty' past and 'angsting' about it ingame. Mitch Gunther - 1 A low score due to the fact that he's missing some cards in the deck, so to speak. |

Andrew Lipson - 0! Fucking eh, Lipson's a 0. Bitchin'.
Adam Dodd - 44. Gah. Cole Hudson - 17. I can see it. *shrug* Amanda Jones - 24. I figured her score'd be higher. Eddie Serjeantson - 11. Well, he's no Andrew Lipson, but...XD I won't bother doing Arturo Villamor because he hardly appeared in SOTF. Sidney Crosby - 33. I SO figured he'd be the bigger one. Though, I suppose that the 44 I got with Dodd was because he shares my damn name. |
