I'm sure the others appreciate your spirit, but we already have someone working on the soundtrack, have for a while.

Posted by: Kuze Apr 29 2006, 02:53 AM
And this is why you read back threads, OR use the very underused SEARCH button.

Posted by: Sephy Apr 29 2006, 11:37 AM
What happened to that person working on the SOTf soundtrack anyway? haven't heard anything about that for months.

and boys, I thought girls were sposed to be the bitchy ones.

Posted by: d0ddi0slave Apr 29 2006, 01:05 PM
C'mon, guys, there's nothing wrong with contributions from other people. Jeez.

Posted by: Swoosh Apr 29 2006, 02:51 PM
I second what Adam's said. Come on guys, Jesus. I, for one, am very interested to hear what this theme song sounds like!

Posted by: Sephy Apr 29 2006, 03:20 PM
I hope you'e not including me in the "guys" that are getting told off, I was telling them off too! *anime chibi eyes*

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 29 2006, 06:08 PM

Posted by: Sephy Apr 29 2006, 07:32 PM
Couldn't you just post the lyrics in this thread?

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 29 2006, 08:23 PM
Verse 1:
'Memories flash like sharpened steel,
enough to hate but not enough to feel (no emotion)

Numbing heat though incompleate,
is still enough to make it real (will I live)

Choices clash like warring hoards,
a life untuned breeds thoughts like screeching chords

A rolling head though left for dead,
can still draw our swords

Bridge:
Hatred will consume (my life)

Everything I am (I was)

Harken to my doom,
knowing I am dammened

Chorus:
Hate me, hate me,
just like I hate you

Help me lose you in the lie

Take me, break me,
help me be like you

It's Survival Of The Fittest, so I won't die.

Verse 2:
Bodies crash upon the ground,
and bloodied fingers make no sound

The blood is fresh from torn flesh,
I hear the tortured screams resound

Am I trash, a willing slave

A fool departed from it's grave

Ignoring screams to find my dreams,
to find the freedom that I crave

Chorus:
Hate me, hate me,
just like I hate you

Help me lose you in the lie

Take me, break me,
help me be like you

It's Survival Of The Fittest, so I won't die.

XD that's got more angst then the average X-Japan song. Great, now I imagine Toshi singing that in my head...

Posted by: Megami Apr 29 2006, 09:50 PM
I like it, Mitsuko. Very creative.

Last I heard, he was working on some songs but couldn't send any by mail due to his mailing system having some errors. As to the song, it seems a bit Gothic, but it might fit with a good tune.

Posted by: Sephy Apr 30 2006, 01:02 AM
I can't even read the lyrics to that song anymore, whenever I try Art of Life pops up in my head tongue.gif

Then again Art of Life would be a kickass themetune *drools over Yoshiki's amazing piano skills*

1. This thread does not need to turn in to a J-Rock love thread

2. Theme. Theme. Theme. Theme.

3. Decent lyrics btw.

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 30 2006, 05:57 PM
(takes a bow) this was written while I read Madaline's death so... ya.

Posted by: Kaishi Apr 30 2006, 06:05 PM
Nice, nice. PM or email the song to me, please~. Unless, you'd be comfortable with uploading it to MegaUpload and allowing everyone access in a post to this thread?

I'd comment about what went on in page one, but it seems Adam and Swoosh have already handled it. tongue.gif

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 30 2006, 06:07 PM
sorry kaishi but I have no tune for it sad.gif (cries)

Seriously tho, i think those lyrics would be good sung by someone who sounds like Toshi and give an Art of Life-ish backing (obviously it'd have to be a lot shorter then Art of Life tho)

Posted by: Queen Asshat Apr 30 2006, 07:25 PM
The SOTF Theme song should always and forever be Journey's Don't Stop Believin'! Seriously how can I work with such charlatans! tongue.gif

Posted by: guitarjack87 Apr 30 2006, 11:12 PM
No, it should be Bringin on the Heartache, by Def leppard.

Posted by: Sephy May 1 2006, 11:03 AM
WE could argue about this till doomsday with all our varied musical tastes tongue.gif

I don't think the actual song Art of Life would make a good SOTF theme tune because it's just too long and too poetic.

Posted by: LadyMakaze May 1 2006, 03:01 PM
*claps at Mitsuko* Very nice very nice! ohmy.gif Now we just need someone to arrange chords for it. *looks around at potential musicians with a scrutinizing eye*

Posted by: Kaishi May 1 2006, 09:31 PM
Can you sing it into a mic and upload that at the very least, Mitsuko? I want to hear it in song. sad.gif

Posted by: mitsuko2 May 1 2006, 10:02 PM
I'm so very sorry. I don't have a mic. sad.gif sad.gif

...Okay. sleep.gif
I give up on you then. tongue.gif No, but, really, it's okay. Don't worry about it.

Anyone else care to sing it please?

Posted by: Lien May 1 2006, 11:34 PM
I can think about... maybe trying to get some kind of orchestral instrumentals in there, if only to accentuate the vocals, no real melody if people are looking for a different feel to it. I've got some experience in Music theory, and have a violinist friend who is crazy-good ( I've played since 5th grade, but this guy pwns me badly).

By the way... I'm saddened that my ex got to meet Coheed and Cambria because he won a contest... but his neighbor and supposedly close friend wasn't even invited. He brought all the popular "perdy" girls. Lame....

Done with RL rant, and yeah, just let me know if you guys want me to check into instrumentals.

Posted by: mitsuko2 May 2 2006, 12:25 AM
Lein that would be awesome thanks biggrin.gif

Posted by: guitarjack87 May 2 2006, 06:52 PM
im a decent singer

Posted by: Minase Jun 5 2006, 03:20 PM
Hadn't seen this until now so I didn't mention, I play synth. I could come up with just about any arrangement you want for this, piano, orchestral, you name it I can do it on my keyboard. Unfortunately it's only a cheap model, but it is the best you can get for 200 squid and I am not bad when it comes to using it either wink.gif

Mitsuko it's your song so I would need your help, and Lien you seem to know what you're doing musically as well so I mean if you wanted to get this started as a proper project that would be cool.

Anyway thats my offer.

Posted by: mitsuko2 Jun 5 2006, 05:43 PM
Ya that's awesome! I'll help in any way I can! Thanks a lot! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: Minase Jun 5 2006, 06:05 PM
Well I have some ideas but what kind of style did you want for this piece.

I'm open to just about anything personally, but I would'nt want to start putting something together without everyone else putting their imput forward so we can decide exactly what we want this thing to be.

Posted by: mitsuko2 Jun 5 2006, 06:18 PM
like a kind of Gothy alternative rock song

Posted by: Minase Jun 5 2006, 06:28 PM
I'm glad you said gothy becuase I like working with strings and choirs best, also what are with going with on vocals, male or female, clean or distorted, classical or popular?

Posted by: mitsuko2 Jun 5 2006, 06:37 PM
Female, definately.

ummm probobaly clean

popular is a must

Posted by: laZardo Jul 16 2006, 02:05 PM
I'm thinking "Beware" by Big Pun. Gotta be open to all genres...

Lyrics include:

I'm born to kill and still thrilled, I put it on you
There's no regrets, remorse only results in loneliness
Only the strong survive, we strive through life as warriors
All of us die, some of us kill, even massacre
Who wanna try? Punisher will if you ask for it
I'm hazardous for your health and hell's your next stop
For real my shit's cocked the world has just stopped...

Posted by: Cycokiller Jul 17 2006, 02:48 AM
I had to mention this...the band kinda sucks but the song was good and look at the lyrics! Now that is creepy.

Papa Roach: Bloodbrothers

Watch your back because the next man is comin'
And you don't know if the next man is dumbin'
Survival of the fittest what it is
I got yo back, you got my back, and that's the biz
Blood is rushing through my veins, I got the power
Channel the energy, and with my strength I will devour
Sickening thoughts are running through my head
Thats when I realize I'm glad im not dead

Corruption and abuse, the salesman of our blood
For the public's craving, existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's in our nature to kill, kill, kill

It was a dream and then it hit me, reality struck
And now my life is all shifty and it all moves fast
Close to the buck 50, and we all stand strong
In respect to the family in the times of our insanity
And in the words of profanity, I describe our dysfunctional family
Blood brothers keep it real to the end, deeper than the thoughts that you think?
Not a trend!

Corruption and abuse, the salesman of our blood
For the public's craving, existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's in our nature to kill, kill, kill

Again and again ...

Corruption and abuse, the salesman of our blood
For the public's craving, existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's in our nature to KILL, KILL, KILL!!!!

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's in our nature to kill ...

I think that a good theme song for SOTF would be "10th Man Down" by Nightwish.

Today I killed, he was just a boy
Eight before him, I knew them all
In the fields a dying oath:
Id kill them all to save my own

Cut me free, Bleed with me, Oh no
One by one, We will fall, down down
Pull the plug, End the pain, Run'n fight for life
Hold on tight, this aint my fight

Deliver me from this war
Its not for me its because of you
Devils instant my eternity
Obey to kill to save yourself

Cut me free, Bleed with me, Oh no
One by one, We will fall, down down
Pull the plug, End the pain, Run'n fight for life
Hold on tight, this aint my fight

I dunno, I was thinking about it - probably "Animal I've Become" by Three Days Grace.

Most songs on their new CD seem to work...*shrug*

Posted by: Cycokiller Jul 18 2006, 04:24 AM
A couple songs that I somehow always associate with SOTF are as follows, and I encourage anyone to give 'em a listen and remark on their SOTFity.

Alexisonfire: Little Girls Pointing and Laughing
Living Sacrifice: Local Vengeance Killing
Poison the Well: Nerdy
Thrice: For Miles

The last one especially. I'm serious, at the point near the end of the song when the guy is singing really softly and then WHAM! abruptly everything becomes really heavy, I swear it fits perfectly with the mental image of innocent children being put on an island and having to kill eachother. Plus it's a pretty song, so if you want dl it if only for one listen.

I still think 10th Man Down would be best, or possibly Nightwish's The Kinslayer.

Here's a youtube video with Star Wars, playing to the song 10th man down, and tell me if that ISN'T a good song for SOTF:

Yeah but now whenever I hear it I'm gonna associate it with Star Wars...

Yeah... sadly, I think I might as well... unless I have my friend make me a 10th Man Down/BR video, bwahaha

Maybe the infamous "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor", not as the main theme, but it could probably fit in the more ass-kicking centric parts of SOTF (such as when Cillian mopped the floor with Devi and Arturo in the Caves, I hate the guy and I STILL thought that was pretty cool.). As for main themes...I have to second "For Miles", if only because it's the only one of the ones listed I've heard.

Posted by: Xaldien Jul 19 2006, 04:21 PM
Another Nightwish song came to mind for a good SOTF theme song.
It's called Planet Hell.
I couldn't find any good music videos for it, so I made one using my copy of Battle Royale.

I'm a beginner when it comes to music video making, so don't mind the few mistakes here and there. Anyway, here it is:

A bunch of Thrice songs came to mind; All That's Left, Under A Killing Moon, Paper Tigers, So Strange I Remember You, Image of the Invisible, Betrayal Is A Symptom, The Beltsville Crucible...but this one is slower and has a lot of piano in it and it's kinda eerie and...*groan*...emotional...so it kinda encompasses BR in a way. And the ending is SINISTER. There's no denying it. Like, FRIGGIN' EH, I swear I can't describe how well the ending fits it's so perfect...

Posted by: Xaldien Jul 19 2006, 11:56 PM
Okay, I redid my old Battle Royale video...
I still think this song is the perfect song period for BR and SOTF.

Questions? Comments?

Posted by: Cycokiller Jul 20 2006, 01:24 AM
Ok what is the name of the singer for that group? Because my former guitar teacher, Sam Yelda, did a CD with a certain track with a guy doing vocals that sounded EXACTLY like that guy. It was a track called "The Storm". Sam hails from Europe, and has an extensive list of fellow musicians from that area that he collaborates with (he doesn't sing, so...) I swear the similarity is uncanny. The name of the guy who worked with Sam is Mark DeBlock, apparently. So is it a coincidence, or is this the same guy?

Posted by: Xaldien Jul 20 2006, 01:28 AM
Let's see, the female singer is Tarja Turunen, and the male singer is their former bassist, Marco Hietala

Posted by: Cycokiller Jul 20 2006, 02:43 AM
Oh...alright then. They sound very similar.

Posted by: laZardo Jul 20 2006, 03:57 AM
"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley for an overall feel, the lyrics more implicit than explicit like many of the current choices. Aerosmith's "Dream On" might work for death scenes.

If it weren't already used in movies, I'd definitely recommend Paul McCartney's "Live And Let Die" and Tomoyasu Hotei's "Battle Without Honor or Humanity."

Posted by: Cycokiller Jul 21 2006, 08:23 PM
Ok, it took me all night, but I threw together this BR montage to the song "For Miles". Enjoy.

I think tradition should be upheld and a piece of dramatic classical music should be used. BR used Requiem - Dies Irae, SOTF should use something like O Fortuna.

Posted by: Xaldien Jul 21 2006, 11:26 PM
I can't really make a good video based on classical music.
However, I spent last night making this new BR video, using the song Face to Face by Sixsouie and the Banshees.

It's very slow and ambiant, and the scene where we see Mitsuko smiling is just creepy in this video.

I will admit, my love for Kiriyama, Mitsuko, and Chigusa take up most of this video, and I completely cut out the light tower girls... but, I really like the end result

I hope you all enjoy, I put a lot of work into this:
