Survival of the Fittest > RP Discussion > Your V2 two characters

Posted by: Minase Apr 6 2006, 11:31 PM
This is like a thread where you can post all you want to about any new characters you are developing or have already began using, in preparation for V2. It's a way of introducing them explicity, which I think is good because implicity is much better for RP'ing, it lets people make up their own minds on your character, but sometimes people can get the wrong end of the stick about them. I guess this is a lot like 'little known facts' but for V2.

My characters, for example, that I have began to use in the unoficial pre-game RP, I plan on using in v2 for sure. Panom is pretty much mentally the same as Minase, because I felt I never really got much out of him before I went away near the start of V1. As for the other two they pretty much play of one other, both being total goody-goodys but in different styles, Elizabeth coming from the school of tough love and Jack being a complete martyr.

Well, I really can't choose out of all my made up characters at this point in time, but I am definately sticking with Raikoshi! He resembles Kousaka, in the looks department mostly. He's more mystrious and he wears a tie! His outfit looks kinda like a business suit, but it's not. He's pretty much laid back and all. His hair is dyed Lime green and he has brown eyes. He is going to be 16 years old. He stands about 6'3" and likes to wear a lot of white. Sorta like Kousaka's opposite. He's a bit on the perverted side too, and takes up to women softly, so he gets on their side. Stupid at times, yet helpful to others. Hangs well with the guys too! ^^

I'm using Daniel (I think i posted his bio in another thread, still need a bit of tweaking tho) he's baisically a male version of me, wlel he has all my likes and dislikes.
and I'll probably end up using Satoru too, he's 3/4 Japanese, 1/4 European and has long, brown hair and blue eyes, he's a perfectionist and can't stand being second best at anything, he also has a complete lack of fear due to almost drowning when he was younger, both of these things cause him to do crazy stuff like taking on guys twice his size in fights.

Well, it's no secret that I've revealed Jonathan Michaels, he's a rather complex character...and a villian if you couldn't guess. How Michaels opperates...well you'll just have to find out yourself.

Well I hadn't planned it but I just started writing and all of a sudden this thing has happened which pretty much cements Jack and Liz together. I had planned on them getting together, but I hadn't expected it to take shape so early and strongly, they just came alive and it happened. I guess they are a packaged deal really, because they are both different extremes of the same thing, put them together and you get one person but apart they are useless. Going to be interesting to see how they react under the SOTF act. Honestly, I don't even know, they aren't even my characters anymore, they are fucking alive and telling me what to write!

Posted by: guitarjack87 Apr 9 2006, 08:48 PM
I am not sure what characters I am using yet, but I am sure that one of them will be the highly intellegent and massively good looking Jordan, and I may use Roger as well.

We may also be seeing the return of Alex Drake, since I kind of like the way I wrote him in the old forum, and would like to use him in the game.

Posted by: Slayer Apr 10 2006, 01:07 AM
I'll definitely be using Thomas, and I'm considering putting the leader of his gang in too. Might also put a few members of other gangs in the city to flesh out that bit (along with a subplot between the aforementioned leader and one of the other planned characters).

Posted by: d0ddi0slave Apr 10 2006, 01:37 AM
I have five of them.

First of all, we have Andrew, who's kind of my main dude. He's sarcastic, charismatic, but quiet, and is kind of the class clown. He's very good at putting on a facade to hide his true feelings.

Secondly, there's Adam. Adam is a complex guy who on the outside is the atypical 'hockey dude', somewhat appears to be a bit of a jock, but inside is really kind of insecure and is actually quite intelligent. Doubts himself with the ladies, though he's almost a ladies man, and would be if he didn't sabotage himself so much.

Third, we have Victoria/Veronika (depending which name I like more when I fill out the app). She appears to be a stereotypical goth chick, but is far more than that. She really just dresses in the style because it's how she feels comfortable, and she enjoys gauging other people's reactions to things she does. She's ridiculously smart but is almost socially inept in the way that she could be social, but is almost afraid to do so. Always on the outside, and keeps her feelings bottled up inside. Doesn't have many friends because she prefers her own company. Could very well become a prominent character of mine.

Fourth is Kevin. Kevin's the smarmy little arrogant weasley kind of guy that everyone knows, is 'in' the popular crowd, but nobody is really all that fond of him. He's on the verge of being a nerd, but is really one of those kids that most people somewhat enjoy one minute, and the next just want to step over and strangle. Has very little tact.

Fifth is Alex. Alex doesn't speak English very well, and his first language is Russian. He's somewhat of an eccentric young man, and while he's still attempting to adapt to the American culture, he feels it important to preserve his Russian heritage wherever he is. He's an intense individual, and whatever he does, he tries REALLY hard at, whether it be school, or sports. He has a genuine love for life and always walks around with a positive attitude, a smile on his face, and a nice thing to say about most.

Three Characters. One's a villain, one's not, and the other is fodder.

This time it's mostly girls. I think the fodder will be a boy though.

Posted by: riserugu Apr 10 2006, 02:05 AM
I currently have two planned, and I might add Gregg and Benjamin from the IP thread into the mix. Maybe, I'm not to sure about them being as I made them up on the spot. But as for my other two;

I first have Mio, an internesting young girl who dresses in a very vintage-like fashion of older eras, mixing and matching interesting patterns and items. She isn't the most popular girl around but has her share of friends, member of many different clubs she hardly spends anytime not in the presence of others or doing something.

Second is Edgar is rather out-there, class clown type of character, though he has a strong group of circle of friends he isn't one to place a label on himself. Personailty is about as bright as his hair is, though he is also very serious in the fact that when he isn't working hard to getting out of school or working, he's taking care of his mother who was became somewhat withdrawn from the world since something befell her in the past.

Posted by: ZigZaggerty Apr 10 2006, 03:49 AM
Hmm, since I last said. I think I'll be only using two characters for v2.

Adam, my alpha male. A child of a single mom, is spectacular all around. But he has some slight anger issues concerning his father. He also has OCD, upon hearing the word "Death"...He wrings his wrists, like and indian rug burn.

Next is a baddie, gonna keep her secret for now.

Posted by: Bloody_Fists Apr 10 2006, 12:07 PM
Ive got the big shot type gang leader too, I was going to ask if anyone wanted to create an app and rp as some of the gang members, since i dont like roleplaying with myself and i intend to have the gang leader kill atleast two of his gang.

And good old alex drake, i remember stevan having a fight with him on the old board.

Posted by: Kaishi Apr 10 2006, 07:30 PM
Erm, I actually have no idea right now. tongue.gif I'm guessing I'll have a character based largely on myself. She'll be all my negatives personality-wise exaggerated. Then, there's the character that I'll probably end up making just to flesh out any cliques that people need, or one of the gangs that people are talking about.

Posted by: Megami Apr 10 2006, 09:08 PM
I have three fully planned out, and for any other ones... mah, we'll just see how it goes...

Anyway, Whitney is your stereotypical blonde-haired, blue-eyed, "in crowd" cheerleader girl, upon first appearances. She's got a bit more to her than that though. Like the fact that she goes out of her way to fit in with said stereotype. And the fact that her mother was a HUGE influence on Whitney becoming a cheerleader (in other words, her mom's one of those people who try to live out their dreams through their children). Whitney's quite the social butterfly, but she's also quite sheltered and has never really had to deal with any sort of hardships.

Character number two is Ricky. Born and raised in Montana, Ricky and his family just recently moved to wherever V2 will take place. He's very intelligent and pretty quiet... sort of a social introvert. Ricky's passion is baseball, and he's just now found his way off of the bench and onto the field. Another character trying to live a lie, Ricky often puts up a front when around the other baseball boys in an attempt to fit in. He's easily susceptible to peer pressure, and often does things not because he particularly wants to, but because his friends push him to do so. Examples of this are bullying or teasing other students along with the rest of the "popular" crowd.

And finally, character number three is Tanesha. Not exactly the school beauty queen and weighing in at nearly 300 pounds, Tanesha has always had a weight problem, even from childhood. However, like so many others who're insecure with themselves, Tanesha never feels the need to do anything other than complain about it. Constantly feeling the need to be the center of attention, Tanesha is quite a drama queen and turns anything and everything into something of an overelaborate play. In addition, Tanesha is a serious hypochondriac and constantly claims SOMETHING is wrong with her. Also, Tanesha is ridiculously boycrazy and goes out of her way to draw any sort of attention from the opposite sex to herself.

well my first charecter in V2 will be Mariavel Varella. she will be a VERY complex charecter and will be either enemy or ally depending on the other's actions. one thing is for sure though... seh will kill many! wink.gif

Posted by: Albel Nox Apr 19 2006, 05:03 PM
!!!! NO! I HATE MITSUKO! Goodness, that screen name and avatar is gonna mess with my head. She's just no good.

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 19 2006, 05:07 PM
she's just a bit troubled thats all!!!

Posted by: Kaishi Apr 19 2006, 07:36 PM
Okay guys, cool it. No need for the humongous text or going extremely off topic about Mitsuko. Keep your comments to yourself and out of this topic, unless Mitsuko Souma has suddenly decided to join our characters in SOTF v2 (which she hasn't and never will). Thank you~

And Mariavel Varella? Pffft at her getting a lot of kills. My character will kill her before she even gets to three! XD XD Jking.

Posted by: Cycokiller Apr 19 2006, 08:46 PM
I'll be happy as long as I get the one crucial kill I desire.

Posted by: Minase Apr 19 2006, 10:05 PM
Can we have some more NORMAL characters. I mean, I don't want to rip into anyone, but whats with all the super heroes and mobsters. Most people so far will get on the island and just start flying around using their lazer beams to kill everyone! I mean seriously, can't you come up with a mildy interesting flawed protaganist, then make him interesting through how you RP him, rather than making him a twenty foot tall, gold plated footbal superstar! I mean really, the most special thing about any of my characters is the ability to box, aside from that they are all totally normal, are they boring, no they are realsitic, and I am confident enough to say that makes them far better than any super human teen. Seriously, calm down guys, I don't know about you but the average person at my school is about 160-80 pounds tops, 5'10-6'00 , plays one or two sports maybe on the weekends and has been in the local paper once or twice. What is with all the megastars! Also, most people I know have barely handled a BB gun, why are most of the people in our school axe/kinfe/sword/gun wielding master warriors, is this some sort of SAS college?!

Posted by: Megami Apr 19 2006, 11:10 PM
I resent that remark. My characters are normal. tongue.gif Tanesha's just a little overweight, and considering she's based off a friend of mine in terms of body weight and such, it's not far off at all. As for the gigantic crew we seem to have running around, I find myself half agreeing with you and half not. It'd make more sense if Kai goes with an older age, most definitely, but I've gotta say that there was a slew of big guys where I went to school... most of them athletes. A lot of the football guys stood between 6'0" and 6'5"... not the whole team, of course, but a lot of them did. Then again, I suppose it all depends where you come from, right? Though I will agree... there's definitely a lot of HUGE kids running around.

Posted by: Lien Apr 19 2006, 11:13 PM
Not everyone has characters like that... just some people who wish to share them and tend to want them violent... Whatever floats their boat, you know?

You can't exactly tell everyone how everything is going to go, or how they should do it. It's all a matter of their choice, and for someone who started it to get some replies on different characters sure is acting a bit annoyed by what he got. happy.gif

Posted by: Slayer Apr 19 2006, 11:15 PM
Same here. My characters aren't "superheroes" or anything like that. One's just got a ton of muscle and a poor family and the other is just good with a knife (which probably won't come up unless he gets one in v2). Way you paint it out, you're the only one making realistic people and every other character is a Kiriyama or Mitsuko clone (which ain't how it is).

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 20 2006, 12:16 AM
Yea, i'm with them! All our charectewrs are original and have their own special attributes! So dont act all high and mightey!

Posted by: Kaishi Apr 20 2006, 02:08 AM
People are entitled to opinions, folks. Try not to jump on Minase all at once~.

Minase - try not to make posts like that. You're allowed to put in your thoughts, as we all are, you just can't lay it down quite like that that every character here is "ultra powerful". SOTF v2 hasn't even started yet, so you're basing all your beliefs on others' character ideas. All these ideas are going to be fleshed out further when the applications roll along and during the Pregame. You can make comments (toned down, though, don't want anyone taking offence, do we?), but not now when there's hardly anything to make comment on.

Thanks for understanding. happy.gif

Posted by: Sephy Apr 20 2006, 11:59 AM
In my experience, there's no such thing as a 'normal' kid, all kids have abilities, strengths, slight insanity, anything like that.

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 20 2006, 02:41 PM
Two more charecters are ready and waiting for V2!

the first is Tybalt Setsuno your steriotypical goody goody charecter, not wanting to take part in the game.

Second one is Lavender Heart, she is Mariavel's one real freind who knows all about her secrets (witch i will not reveal wink.gif) though she will end up being fodder after they meet up.

P.S. I'm willing to let someone else be Lavender, but they will still have to make her fodder sad.gif tongue.gif . PM me if you want her.

Posted by: Minase Apr 20 2006, 06:55 PM
I love the way certain people all jumped on me, defending themselves hmmm? See a little truth in what I say hmmm? Come on guys calm down, can't take a little constructive criticism? All I mean't was in my opinion from what I have seen so far the characters are a little samey, I'm not tearing into anyone and obviously I don't think your all ripping off other characters and only I am putting in any effort, your all coming up with the characters you want to and I'm not going to tell you not to, maybe I cam on a little strong, I'm sexually frustrated, lol.

All I mean is maybe we can focus a little less on statistics and abilities and express our characters through RPing, which is basically what Kai assured me will happen and I will take her word for it that most of you are biding your time, sorry if I caused any one any offence, I wasn't targetting anyone in particular, I was being horrible to everyone irespectively, lol.

I might be dragging my friend to this community for V2 to play my character's semi-love interest (its kinda a Sugimura/Kotohiki thing without the "zomg i must protect her!1111")

Posted by: mitsuko2 Apr 22 2006, 02:21 AM
Wooh hoo!!! A brand new charecter!! Yay for me!! (does a happy dance)

(calms down) ok...ok. Her name is Melane DeSilva. She is the school outcast, simply not wanting any friends. She ends up being a "player" because she has no qualms with killing people she dosen't like. She's a pretty weak-willed charecter compared to my other ones so she'll probobly be killed off pretty quickly. But I do have some events planned out for her that may or may not be a major turning point for some of the other charecters in the SOTF ACT.

Hrm, got my origional roster finalized

1. Jordan Malk- Born and raised in southeastern Michigan, Stands 5-11, weighs 213 lbs, fairly athletic with quite a bit of talent in wrestling and football. (8th in state in wrestling, All conference all county selection in football) Certianly likes to party and have fun, sometimes a little too much, and does not take things too seriously. Problem is, even when things get too serious, he still makes a joke out of it. A natural leader, people generally like and respect him. Very intellegent and self confident to a fault, if you tell him your good at something he will most challenge that statement. Very strong, and a good runner, his only hinderance being a knee injury he obtained during football his senior/junior/sophomore year. (which is what kept him from playing in college)

2. Alex Drake- Green eyes, Sandy brown hair, keeps a trim goatee and most people would say he is good looking in the Clint Eastwood vein. Born in Oklahoma, parents died in a car crash, now lives with grandmother in whatever town the school that goes is in. 5-10, 185, and deaf, family owned a farm so he is also pritty strong, and a very good worker. Very insecure and quiet, he has a tendancy to get picked on. Has been wrestling since 2nd grade, but is stuck behind Roger on the team, because even though he could easily beat him, Roger and his friends would beat him up if he did. Looking for an established Girl friend for him.

3. Roger Maris- Brown hair and blue eyes, extremely handsome, and knows it. His father is also one of the richest men in the city, and Roger takes advantage of that to the fullest. A self proclaimed prick, him and his crew rule the school as the 'popular' crowd. As much as girls say they hate him, most would love to hook up with him, if just for the social status improvement. (As an aside, most have hooked up with him at one time or another, and he lets everyone know) He is a sociopath, which means that he has next to no emotion for anyone but himself, and believes the world was made for him. He has no concept of such words as love and friend, and only uses people for either protection or whatever he needs them for and then ruthlessly tosses them aside. Deceptivly smart, he dupes alot of people into underestimating him with his cocky loudmouth attitude. Most people at the school know, you do not mess with Roger, and you do not mess with any of Rogers friends, or you will be in trouble. He is also a good hockey player and a decent wrestler, though he does not really care much for sports and only does them to keep in shape and attract more women.

Posted by: LovelessHeart Apr 23 2006, 11:45 PM
Erm... I kinda got a good idea about this one.

His name is Dimitri Shlovak, he is gay, and is still in the closet. he is very self consious and is actually quite the lady's man. he'll probobly be the goody two-shoes kinda guy.

Posted by: Swoosh Apr 24 2006, 05:59 PM
I've only really got the one character planned, which is Reese. I should probably think of some more, but... wah for exams, they take prioritaaaay!

Which reminds me, Kai-kai, would that be OK if I somehow figured out how to get him in there?

Posted by: Cycokiller Apr 24 2006, 09:45 PM
Here are my two characters so far.

Calvert, Bryan: a very short-tempered young man. He has an extensive history of schoolyard fights and anger management courses. In his second year of highschool he got into a brutal altercation with a member of the school football team (which ended up unfinished) and was held back a year (not to mention pulled out of martial arts). He bears a deep-seated grudge against this particular student and, given the chance, would like to settle it once and for all. Bryan has taken Muay Thai kickboxing for about 4 years and his skills are pretty solid. He loves Motörhead and thinks he is their biggest fan.

Liu, Yi: an exceptional student and violin prodigy. His parents are very strict and expect ridiculously high marks throughout his educational career. However he has recently become disenchanted by the monotonous world of academics, and doesn't know if he can meet such high expectations. He is something of a expert at computers (not to the extent that he would even try hacking SOTF's system mind you) and has a keen interest in music.

We're already planning out which characters to use? Gee, where did I miss the memo?

The only character I have that's a definite go is Vesa Turunen, the exchange student from Finland. He's just a typical student in most senses...he has no special abilities in regards to fighting or anything. He's big (6-3 and somewhere between 205 and 220 pounds), has long blonde hair that comes down past his shoulders and usually wears either t-shirts, button-down shirts or hockey jerseys and blue jeans. As for interests, he plays hockey and guitar, has a love for heavy metal and when not playing guitar or hitting the ice, he's usually hitting the books or just hanging out with friends. He would fit the stereotypical jock mold if he were a natural-born American, but seeing as how he's originally from Finland, his struggle to adjust to the changes in life from that of his native land has made him unsure of himself and more wary of others. Another interesting thing about Vesa is that he speaks five languages fluently, including English and Finnish, and will often swap between the language he's using and Finnish, especially when he's angry.

As for other characters, I'm still not sure which ones I'm gonna use. One will definitely be a girl, and I've introduced some possible characters in the International Phenomenon RP, including Vesa. Stay'll be hearing more from me in the future. wink.gif

Well if he's heavily in denail course he's gonna flirt with the girls a lot, most people who are afraid of thier own sexuality tend to be the biggest flirters.

Priscilla Antoinette Colvin- she's about 5'1 and 85 lbs. but she's fiesty. First of all the name is intentionally girly... and she hates it. She's a total tomboy. Her mother had always wanted a girl and gave birth to five older brothers before Andie (the name she goes by). Andie's mother died giving birth to her seventh child Andie's younger brother when Andie was only about 4. Her only real memories of her mother are of her trying to dress her in frilly dresses and Andie taking them off in the old baptist chuch the family went to in her youth (they stopped going after her mom died) and Andie pretty much running around under the pews naked... she always marched to the beat of her own drum preferring to play outdoors and rough it with the boys, football in the mud, swimming in the swampy waters around their Lousiana farm, climbing trees all sorts of fun stuff. Although she's scrappy she packs a punch and what she is, is all muscle. She can beat up most of the boys in her class and takes particular joy in kicking any bullies ass. She sticks up for the underdog. A lot of girls don't like her because she's "to rough". She's actually quite beautiful with long blonde hair (usually in a baseball cap ponytail tongue.gif) and a delicate face (she's the spitting image of her mother... and she literally spits folks.) Most of the boys don't notice her much because she's always around but she's quite beautiful. One of those people who looks gorgeous without makeup even... she's just so low maintenance it kind of fades into the background. She's very congenial, quite smart... and sadly flat chested.

Well, I am a new member, but seeing all these cool ideas for characters made me want to try a slap at it to for when V2 comes out...

Sky Morrows- At 5'7" and 126 lbs, she is a very serious person and tries her hardest to think about things before she does them. She can be a total sadist sometimes, and if she is scared, she won't think twice before acting. She is a tomboy, only she doesn't care much for labels. She isn't beautiful, but she isn't horridly deformed. She had a round face and a slightly large nose, but her eyes make due by being green and bright. Her mouth is usually at a neutral expression, for she seems to be a bit depressed. She is very wise though. After going through a lot in her lifetime, she has picked a up some words of wisdom and once in a while says something that could possibly help someone out. She is weaker then most people, but she gives stuff her all. She laughs at only a few things and likes to make sarcastic remarks. She is kind at heart though, but tries to hide her feelings most of the times. She wears her shoulder-length brown hair down and has a trademark green jacket made of denim that has a patch of a happy face on one shoulder and a frown face on the other. She also wears worn out jeans and a generic t-shirt that hugs her slightly flat chest. Her instincts about things usually lead her to better scenarios.
Her favorite quote is, "Sanity is calming, but madness is more interesting."

Ok ok that just gave me an idea.

Ugly Frank: while even the most revolting children can still say that they are not 'horridly deformed', Frank was granted no such luck. His grotesquely malformed body has drawn many an awkward glance, for this young boy is so ugly he makes Roseanne look like Sophie Howard. While many pity him and even try to befriend him, his family still holds him in the highest contempt. But the future looks bright for young Frank. Ok, maybe not. But still!

Y'know something...back to Loveless' idea for a cloest homosexual...I was thinking of creating an openly gay character. He'd probably be one not to be fucked with cause let's face it, high school kids, especially the guys and moreso jocks, can be really nasty toward a guy if they found out he was gay...and I'm not just talking about using the fag word either. The only issue I'm debating is his appearance, namely body shape...should he be thin and have a more bishouen(sp?)-like appearance, or should I make him big and have him fit in the "bear" category? (If you're familiar with the gay community, you should know what I'm referring to when I mention bears. And on a side note, I myself am not gay, but have several friends that are and am bisexual myself...just thought I'd get that off my chest.) Either way, I'd mark him with a tag that says HANDLE WITH CARE cause I know for a fact that he's gonna be looking to get back at people for the bullying and name-calling he's had to endure in school.

I know a really feisty little guy, who gave his "bear" of a ex-boyfriend a right hook. So, if your character is going to have more sass, I would stick with a smaller frame. It just seems cooler to roleplay.

Both my characters are bisexual if anyone cares tongue.gif *is incapable of making a 100% straight male character*

Posted by: Minase May 10 2006, 05:39 PM
Well my characters are 100% straight, in fact they probably don't even know what being 'gay' even is, so I can make up the numbers for straight characters if you guys want to all be queer biggrin.gif

(I use the term lovingly)

Lets see I have two already planned out, one is a villan and the other is just sadly misunderstood and complex. Well her life is T-T. However the third character I have in the workd is probably going to be a boy can't find any boy names. xD

The guys are make are bisexual as well happy.gif

In response to Croco I came out earlier this year (my senior year) and no one ever said anything to me negatively. And I go to a Catholic school which is not the greatest place to be if you're gay. Maybe it was the fact that I'd known those people for three and a half years (some even more) but I was never threatened, received a nasty remark or let alone had a finger laid on me. ::shrugs:: Anyway yeah off topic much sorry for the spam or whatever not trying to turn the topic. I think it's interesting that a lot of characters have differing sexualities though... wasn't to much of it in V1.

Posted by: d0ddi0slave May 26 2006, 04:21 AM
I'm as straight as a really straight thing.

(Didn't want to say arrow, that's so fucking cliche.)

But I dunno. Straight or gay, it's not like it defines your body type or whatever. You can take an ordinary person and then they're 'gay'. And it's like...does it really make a difference?

I mean, like...a person is a person is a person. Straight or gay is just another characteristic in my eyes, like brown hair, blue eyes, large hands, small penis, big nose, large breasts, floppy ears.

Y'know. Just another characteristic.,

Just my opinion, folks.

Well, to get this back on topic, I was thinking on making a character with a similar concept to Jack (son of politician), but on the other side of the spectrum. Where Jack seems to be kind of an anarchist and doesn't abuse his family name, my character would take ample advantage of it. Basically, he's a psychopath, he knows it, and he uses his family's influence to get away with it.

I think I've made up my mind as to how I wanna handle the character I suggested, so now all I have to do is come up with a female character to go with them. For those that saw what little I put up on the AIP roleplay, do you think I'd be better off with Brittany Clausen (the cheerleader) or Carlina Jarrett (the goth)? Either way, they're both gonna be toast... wink.gif

We had like a million goth characters in V1, so I'd say go with the cheerleader. Then again, it may be different for V2. happy.gif

So far though I don't think anyone has mentioned a goth character, so it would be original at this point, but I would prefer a cheerleader.

To be honest, I just think the roleplay would be more fun with more 'in' characters, as oppose to social outcasts. It just seems that if your character is a social outcast, they instantly become either easy kills for others, or brutal muderders themselves. People who are popular, with loads of friends and just generally fit in, I believe, make much better characters for a game like this, because the turmoil such people would face in having to kill off their best friends in order to survive would be so much greater, thus making them more interesting.

Don't get me wrong, we are going to need some social outcasts and a few complete arseholes or no one will kill anyone and the game will just become about a bunch of kids walking around on an island talking about who they have crushes on, but I think the game wiuld succeed with as few of those as possible, and my justification for this theory is BR itself. Mitsuko, Kiryiama and a few of their 'friends', how many other outcasts are there. Two or three minor ones who really are only looked down of for their weight or appearance, in general its just one massive gang of friends, and in real life its like that too, more people fit in than stick out, otherwise they wouldn't be oucasts at all, no matter how weird they tried ot make themselves.

I don't want to influence anyone here (or maybe I do but only if they already in part agree with what I think) I'm mostly just stating my beliefs on what sort of characters make for a better game.

So yeah, cheerleader.

Well, for what it's worth, I tend to agree with you on that. But if you think about it, nearly everyone has a social clique anyway. The goths tend to hang out together, the cheerleaders, etc. In V1, there seemed to be a lot of social outcasts, but you know... one of the only areas where V1 is sort of flawed is that unlike BR, probably half the kids on the island didn't have a clue who the others were (even though most of them came from the same school). For the most part, the majority of the kids in V1 tended to be loners or pretty low on the totem pole. We DID have a couple athletes (I always assumed B.C. High's baseball boys were pretty popular) and a couple others (Adam, Aiden, etc.) who were pretty far up there on the popularity ladder, but most of the characters were, quoth the conclusions section, "punk kids with martial arts skills". Then again, considering we had so many different schools participating in V1, people's social status didn't really matter anyway. happy.gif But you know, where would we be without the angsty, suicidal social recluses? Lots of them turned out to be awesome characters.[/endrant]

I totally agree with you on your main point, about how nobody really knew anybody else despite going to the same school, being a major flaw, one which we donlt have to worry about revisiting due to the pre-game roleplay. Also you are right, most people, even the outcasts, have their own group, perhaps I was hasty in suggesting 'goth' means complete friendless loner, only in V1 it sort of did.

What I really want, personally, is to see a really tight knit group of people in V2 like we all saw in the orginal battle royale. I want best friends and good friends and groups of friends and people who are in several groups and connect them all into one big collection of friends, it's how real life is for the most part and the reaslism that BR achieved, even with its totally abstract theme, was one of the things I loved about it most. Fortuanately (for me) it looks like thats exactly what we will get, what with the pre-game RPs and the amount of people on the board who have become friends due to V1 and will therefore be able to interact well in V2.

Posted by: d0ddi0slave Jun 2 2006, 06:08 PM
Well, that's the thing with Pre-Game RPs...once we're able to RP the pre-game, it'll be better in that relationships will form.

Posted by: Doink Jun 16 2006, 06:38 PM
Okay, I've already got two characters in the Pregame RP at Hobbsborough.

First is Lance Adams, a cynical manga fan who's been through a very rough scrape at one point. In the game, he'll be the self-defense type of guy, preferring to watch exchanges unless he feels he's needed. Once in a group, however, he'll do his best to stick with it until it disbands. I'm not intending for him to make it to the end, just as far as he can get. Hopefully he'll die once the students have been narrowed down to ten, or something. He'll also be trying to find his girlfriend, Kasumi White.

Kasumi is a religious girl, who carries a Bible wherever she goes. She'll try to be a self-defense type, although it will be harder for her to do so. I plan for her to die early on (earlier than Lance, at least) before she can go crazy.

Off-topic: Doink, Kasumi's last name a not-so-subtle referance to a certain batshit teenage Christian girl with mental powers created by the loverly Stephen King? tongue.gif

to stay on topic: 1 of my character is in the pre-game roleplay already, the other one will be as soon as I get inspiration for his first post. happy.gif

OT: Not really. Just the first thing that came to mind. tongue.gif

Well I've already made 4 characters one for each school. Although I have a ton more of ideas for characters. But I'm going to focus with my first four (develop them with others) before I bring out anohter four.

Paris Persphone: The boy version of Regina George from Mean Girls you can say. He's in the most popular group in school, and talks a lot of crap about everyone there. So far nobody has got along with him so far. Hoping he'll have at least one good friend before he's kidnapped.

Ebony Libitina: The sporty kind of girl who dosn't really wnat to be in a relationships. She thinks most guys are jerks and are just trying to get a little action. It is ironic how she got with Sasoru. And now we'll see what kind of monster she's going to become now that their togeather.

Marimar Perez: A nice girl, whose best intrests in biology, and nature. She loves butterflys and is a nice optimistic girl. She also isn't afraid to stand up for what she beleives in ands take action when something has goen to far. Unfortunatly she is a sucker for apperances and will fall in love easily.

Atticus Maybelle: The average emo kid who has tons of ex girlfriend and boyfriends. He is a little quiet but will open up when you get to know him. He is a liar when it comes to people he first meets. I'm not exactly sure where to take him but we'll see.

Intrested in having a history with any of these characters please don't hesitate to ask!
