The Dying Lotus is a recent addition to the town of New Harmony. The group of mercenaries has been running since October 2008. However, its reputation has only begun to surface from the lips of the many groups already taken residency in this pit of Hell.
The mother of the mercenaries keeps her true identity from everyone, but the members of the group. No one knows that it was the death of Meridith Sheridan and the birth of Lillian Chase that gave way to the Dying Lotus. There are several rumors of whom and what Miss Chase is and why she got in the line of work she did. That’s just it though, rumors. No one knows the truth and Lillian will kill anyone who comes too close.
Anyone who is NOT a member of the Dying Lotus does not know that Lillian Chase is the leader. She is referred to as ‘X’ or ‘Lotus’
Through the past months, Lillian Chase has gone out of her way to search for people who have been screwed over by the bickering of the main fractions in the city. It is Lillian who invites a person into her fellowship and it is only done if the person is willing to die.
Literally.
The Dying Lotus is made up of a group of people whom Lillian chooses. They are the throw-outs or fuck-ups who get tossed aside and taken out. The person can be initiated into the group by being on the verge of death that was unjustly. If the Dying Lotus can reach the person on time, they are rescued. To the world the person will remain dead. However, while in recovery, a new identity will be created. They will be trained.
Their status and job as a Lotus will be determined by their talents. To become a full member, the person must plan and see through the death of their killer. They will not get the help of their brothers and sisters until they have shown their determination and loyalty.
If a person does not want to become a Dying Lotus, they cannot be set free. It is a risk that Lillian will not take. The person will die, however, more mercifully the second time around.
There are a set of rules and guidelines a Lotus must follow.
- Rule One: You must take out your murder[s].
- Rule Two: Forget who you were. That person is now long gone. The first couple of years of being a Lotus will be years to mold this new identity of yours.
- Rule Three: Do not contact anyone from your old life.
- Rule Four: When sent out on an assignment, you must complete it. Do not return to the base until your have finished.
- Rule Five: If you are going to target your payroll, get the money first.
- Rule Six: Do not give out any information about the whereabouts of the group base. Be careful to not get followed. The group will murder the spy and you if this happens.
- Rule Seven: After each kill, you are to place a single, full bloom, black-dyed Lotus into the mouth of the victim.
In order to contact a member of the Dying Lotus: - You may send in a letter to one of the underground newspapers with contact information for a certain job you do not want linked to you or a group. This letter will mysteriously find its way to a member of the Dying Lotus. “X” or “Lotus” will contact you
- Go to Kate's Saloon. There is a table in the corner that is always empty. Take a seat and order a ‘Dead Man Walking’. Place the information of the case you want the Dying Lotus to take in a manila folder. Place the folder on the table and on top, lay a white Lotus flower. Stand up and go to the restroom. Wait for ten minutes and then walk back to the table. If a member of the Lotus has picked up your order, the flower and folder will be missing. There will be one empty glass and one full glass of the ‘Dead Man Walking’. Leave and within a week, you will receive a phone call for contact.
