DERICK WILLIAMS
Nickname: Dee, Eric, Will, etc. Age: Early 40's- Mid 40's Occupation: Teacher or Professor of some sort. Description: This character is a very powerful witch who comes from a family of whatever ability the player wishes. He is a baby boomer and must come from a large family with several siblings. Derick has a sister in Colorado which is he very close with. She is the only member of his family who accepted the idea of him marrying a human instead of a witch.
Derick has a strong personality and is most likely seen by people as a physical protector. He may not be good with emotion, but he shows his concern through his actions. Some of his heroes include: Socrates, Plato, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Soren Kierkegaard, Thomas Paine, Martin Luther King Jr. , Thurgood Marshall, Marilyn Monroe, Ella Fitzgerald, Princess Diana. Although he is the biggest Elvis Presley fan out there.
He is both a warrior with his courage and a philosopher with his words. Big Civil Rights activist and not just with human cases, but supernatural too.
In high school, he met a girl name Hope Nelson (human). The two believed they had nothing in common. Constantly fought and considered each other the greatest enemy. It wasn't until the summer after graduation that he started to really get to know Hope as she was discovering her past. After their little two week trip, Derick began to let Hope in and was there when she was at her lowest. They became best friends after that and even went to college together. It was during these years that he told her what he was. She accepted him and even wanted to learn some magic of her own.
In a way, the witch always knew he liked Hope, but didn't want to fall in love with her. She was human and he was witch. His family strongly disapproved of their relationship and thought he was pushing it with being friends with Hope.
After college, they moved in together. He had kept his true feeling from Hope and it tore him up every time she went out with another guy. Derick gritted his teeth when she announced she was getting married and promised to help her in any way possible. He would never admit out loud, but he was on cloud nine when Hope's fiance decided to leave her. The witch wanted to make his move on her, but decided to wait at least a year.
A year later, on her 26th birthday, he treated her to magical night. At the end, he confessed his love to her. Hope was taken aback by this. She was not sure she had recovered from her broken heart enough to prove if she loved Derick. However, she decided to give them a shot which turned out to be the best six years of their lives.
Derick bought a ring after those six years, but was scared to death that Hope would say 'no' to marriage. Though the two were in love, their outside lives kept them from being the family type. He also knew that there was little chances of having children if he waited longer. However, if she did say no, their relationship would be weird and eventually fall apart. At least, that is how he saw it. He did not want to do anything that would make her leave. Instead he decided to go to an old family friend, who so happened to be a very accurate seer. She predicted that the night Hope said 'yes' to marriage, she would die.
The news devastated Derick' spirit. The witch was not sure if he could live in a world where Hope was not. But he also didn't know if he could continue with their relationship and not slip up about proposing to her. Instead, he put it in his head that as long as he was not around...she would live out her days.
It took him months to prepare his leave from the love of his life. It did not take much on his part to convince the rest of his family to help. They were glad to be rid of the possibility of a human family member. They gathered together and blessed the potion he was to slip to her. He had until midnight. The night he was to leave, Derick planned to recreate the night he confessed his love to Hope. It was easy to slip his lover the potion through a bottle of wine. Two minutes to midnight he explained that he loved her and wanted so much for her to be his wife. However, he had to leave her in order to save her life. Derick was honest about slipping her the potion and told her that she would lose all memory of him. Within time, she would remember and he begged her to move on during that time.
For ten years since that horrible night, Derick has traveled the world teaching about equal rights among human and supernaturals. Apparently he was good enough at his job that B.P.R. found him a threat. Captured and imprisoned him in one of the concentration camps.
Derick Williams will be introduced in the thread where members of Isis have made it their latest mission to rescue the prisoners of this camp. Here, Derick and Hope will meet up again with her memories in tact. Hope will die in his arms and Derick will leave to become the head of the Isis agency in New Harmony.
