He would not be my 1st choice, however in all the jobs he has had I am sure he has done an excellent job with limited resources (Excluding Celtic)

I agree Paul, wouldn't be my first choice but he's done a decent job. To laugh about him considering what Benitez is doing is a bit rich. Plus he might not want to take over as it's only rumours after all. A lot can happen between now and Summer and Benitez might not last that long. :wink:

You think that will be the reason he leaves, yet paper writes, 'Rafa is confident!'

I think his point is Rafa will tire of the financial straits of the club and decide to leave based on the fact we cannot compete with the top clubs in Europe on, or off the field any longer. The new manager will obviously have to deal with the same constraints.

What never gets mentioned is the money which was spent on improved contracts including Rafa's. Yes we spent net nothing but we can't say a new manager would also get nothing to spend until things were worked out. A lot of money was spent on those new contracts in the summer. Plus we might get a cash injection in the future.

Not an issue, good players command a high wage at all clubs.
We have put about 15m a year into the team during a time we have had our best run in the CL, which is the biggest cash cow in football. Now we are in danger of not seeing that knockout stage revenue for the first time since Rafa began AND we will be in a dogfight just to get in for next year. That, in addition to the possible payout due to Rafa makes your theory highly implausible, if not impossible.
In fact what is more likely is that a number of high profile players (Mascherano, Riera, Babel, Agger and Aurelio come to mind) will be sold and replaced by lesser (or unproven) players. See Lucas for Alonso as the example. A further year out of the CL imo would see Torres leave.

Agger hardly plays but i'd rather he stayed if said scenario happened. But it's all speculation and none of us know who might leave under that.

All high profile yes, certainly compared to a Spearing or Darby or Kelly who would take their place. All are senior internationals on the top 3 teams in the world.

The revenue issue is not speculation at all.
