This site is based off the Dragonriders of Pern © Anne McCaffrey. Based upon the people and world of Pern, this is an alternate reality and world. It will still have all the customs and traditions that are part of the world of Pern,Holders, Riders, and Craftsmen. But within this world of Pern, dragons have evolved in colors and size. For a idea of how the breeding of different pairs go for Golds and Crimsons, along with a visual reference to sizes, please have a look at our size charts. __________________________________________________________________
 |
Gold - Female Riders: Largest of the dragons within Pern, and the largest female in the colors. Their skin can come to any shades of gold from yellow-green, to the splendid gold like precious metal. Queens control all the other colors not only for their size but because of how strong minded a Queen is. They help with keeping order within the Weyr when there is Thread or not. To check up on all dragons and check up with all the humans that live within the Weyr. They do not produce flame like the other colors for chewing firestone will make a Queen infertile to produce any clutches. Queens will rise to mate two to three times a year, and producing a clutch of ten to forty-eight eggs at a time. A fully mature Queen is around 1.5 Turns of age and ready to mate. Queens can measure up to 38 to 48 feet tall (from shoulder), and measuring from about 235 to 300 feet in length (nose to tail tip). |
 |
Silver - Male Riders: Second largest of the dragons of Pern, and the largest male in colors. Silvers are just a Bronze dragon with their color pigments changed from all the others. Silvers come from many shades from pure Sterling Silver to dark Chrome. They have the same characteristics and responsibilities of the Bronze, but are very rare. Most Silvers become either Weyrleaders or Wingleaders for the Weyr or Fighting Wings. They are the leaders of the other fighting dragons and help keep order within a Weyr both in times of Thread or in Times of Peace. Silver dragons are usually the dragons to fly the Queens. Producing large clutches along with a Golden egg.A fully mature and ready to mate Silver at earliest age is at one Turn of age. Silvers can measure up to 38 to 46 feet tall (from shoulder), and measuring from about 235 to 285 feet in length (nose to tail tip). (Silvers are more classified as Bronzes, only reason for Silver is their skin tone.) |
 |
Bronze - Male Riders: Third largest of the dragons of Pern, and the second largest male in colors. Their skin like the Queens can vary in skin tones of bronze from true bronze to brown-bronze. Most Bronzes become either Weyrleaders or Wingleaders for the Weyr or Fighting Wings. They are the leaders of the other fighting dragons and help keep order within a Weyr both in times of Thread or in Times of Peace. Bronze dragons are usually the dragons to fly the Queens. Producing large clutches along with a Golden egg. A fully mature and ready to mate Bronze at the earliest age is at one Turn of age. Bronzes can measure up to 35 to 44 feet tall (from shoulder), They range in size from about 225 to 269 feet in length (nose to tail tip), though few ever break 44 ft tall. |
 |
Crimson - Female Riders/ Extremely Rare Male Riders: Fourth largest of the dragons of Pern, and the second largest female in the colors. Crimsons are rare due to the fact no one understands why the pigment colors come out as they do.Crimson dragons can range in color from anywhere to a pale red, but not pink, to a dark burgundy. They fly most often with the low altitude queen’s wing and can easily reach the status of Wingsecond. If there is no queenrider around, crimsonriders are next in line to stand in as Weyrwoman. Crimsons are akin to bronzes in their Thread fighting abilities, though they tend to be sleeker and more agile. They come only as females, as well as the only female Dragon that is able to both flame and clutch. Crimsons only come from a clutch of another Crimson, due to the fact that Crimsons clutch smaller then Golds they will never produce a Queen. A fully mature Crimson is around 1.5 Turns of age, rising to mate once per Turn, and producing a clutch of three to fifteen eggs at a time. Crimsons can measure up to 33 to 39 feet tall (from shoulder), and ranging from about 175 to 242 feet in length (nose to tail tip). Few ever past 39ft tall. |
 |
Copper - Male Riders/ Extremely Rare Female Riders: Fifth largest of the dragons of Pern, and the third largest male in colors. Like both Silvers and Crimsons, Coppers are just a large Brown dragon with their color pigments changed from the others. Coppers are just as their names say, copper. Copper hide colors range anywhere from a soft pale salom like copper to a bright burnished copper or even a deep, almost metallic brown copper hue. Like their oddly colored cousins, they can take on the responsibilities and characteristics of Browns. And like the others they are rare, they rarely seem to want to rise to catch a Queen but are eager when a Crimsons comes into heat. Most Coppers become either Wingleaders or Wingseconds in a Fighting Wings. A fully mature and ready to mate Copper at earliest age of one Turn. Coppers can measure up to 33 to 38 feet tall (from shoulder), ranging from 175 to 235 feet in length (nose to tail tip). (Coppers are more classified as Browns, only reason for Copper is their skin tone.) |
 |
Brown - Male Riders/ Uncommon Female Riders: Sixth largest of the dragons of Pern, and the fourth largest male in colors. Brown skin that can vary from dark chocolate (brown/black) to light milk chocolate brown. Browns can fly the queens but the clutches are smaller and there is never a Golden egg in the clutch. Browns are well known for being the middlemen of the weyr. They average in strength, intelligence, and agility between their larger and smaller brethren. They rarely receive the spotlight given to bronzes though they typically fulfill similar duties, but that often suits them better anyway. They do, however, often make wingseconds and excellent wingseconds at that. Occasionally one can find a brownrider acting as Wingleader, but this is rare. Brown dragons are best known for their level headedness and calm demeanors even though their personalities range as greatly as any other color. They are the third strongest thread fighters after bronzes and can be found in wings of any altitude except the Queen's wing. Browns reach sexual maturity at about one Turn of age and will chase any color females, though they almost always catch Obsidians or Greens. Occasionally a brown dragon will catch a queen, a practice that is actually encouraged during Passes as brown-gold pairings never produce a queen egg. Browns can measure up to 30 to 35 ft tall (from shoulder), ranging from 170 to 225 feet in length (nose to tail tip). |
 |
Obsidian - Male/ Female Riders: Seventh largest of the dragons within Pern. An unusual mutation, Obsidians are fascinating oddities. Their hides manage to range in color while still giving the impression that they are all somehow that same baseline obsidian and can be anywhere from a bright, almost iridescent black to being so dark that they seem to be little more than dark shapes with eyes. Obsidians, like Browns, are most often found as Wingriders and Wingseconds but have been known to rise to the position of Wingleader. Obsidian females do not clutch as they are rendered sterile by firestone, which seems to suit them better as they are notoriously agile threadfighters. They do, however, become sexually mature at the age of 1.5 Turns and will rise two to five times a turn. The males rarely chase after Crimsons and never Golds, but they do favor female Obsidians and Greens. These dragons seem to be one of the only colors where the typical build is slender. Obsidian dragons can Impress to either gender as well as being the only color dragon that can be either gender. There seems to be no discernable pattern in their choosing as male and female obsidians seem to be ridden by equal numbers of boys and girls. Obsidians can measure up to 30 to 35ft tall (from shoulder), ranging from 170 to 225 feet in length (nose to tail tip). |
 |
Blue - Male/ Female Riders: Eight largest of the dragons of Pern, and the smallest male in colors. Blue skin that can vary from navy blue (blue/black) to very light sky blue. Blues usually just fly the greens as they are two small and slow to catch the Queens, and will more then likely not produce a clutch at all. Though blue are more agile then their large male kin, they help out when thread is in the sky by catching stray clumps. When there are eggs on the hatching grounds, Blues are extremely sensitive at this time and can pick out the best candidates for the soon to be hatched dragonets. They are the most numerous males. Blues tend to be placed in higher altitude wings due to their agility, which is almost as great as that of their green sisters. However they tend to be bulkier and have more stamina; very few blues will have to rest during an extended fall. While they do not make Wingleaders or Wingseconds, they are excellent wingriders and are extremely dependable in fall. Blues are fully mature and ready to mate at earliest age of one Turn. Blues can measure up to 25 to 30 feet tall (from shoulder), and ranging from 125 to 170 feet long (nose to tail tip). |
 |
Green - Female/ Male Riders: Nineth largest of the dragons of Pern, second smallest of both male and female. Greens can vary from emerald green ( green/black) to a very light grass green. Greens are unable to produce a clutch, not only because of how they were created but for the few other facts that they go into heat more often then a Queen does, and they also chew firestone to produce flame. A Green can be known to go in heat at around one Turn of age and rise to mate about two to five times a Turn.Even though greens are among the lowest ranking dragons they do not lack any of the charisma of their larger cousins. Charming, clever, and daring, these numerous females make up the bulk of the weyr’s fighting forces and almost half of the weyr’s dragon population. They are prized by wingleaders for their agility and speed in Threadfall because they are able to perform intricate maneuvers that much larger dragons cannot. However, they have far less stamina than their larger cousins and often cannot last through an extended fall. Greens are known for their flirtatious natures and recklessness during Fall and flight and are often considered to be among the least intelligent dragons even though such is rarely the case. Greens can measure up to 20 to 25 feet tall (from shoulder), ranging from 110 to 125 feet long (nose to tail tip). |
 |
White - Female/ Male Riders: Smallest of the dragons of Pern, both male and female. A White dragon is the smallest of all colors, they are the runts of the clutch. Their skin tone is white due to the fact that their skin pigments failed to produce a color of any type. Though there is little variation in their hide color, they can be anything from a sort of pearly color to a dull off-white. Under a bright light, however, their hides are revealed to have incredibly faint undertones of every other color. As a genetic throw back Whites are the rarest color ever. For most die before even hatching. But when one does hatch they are small, even at full maturity they seem to be genderless or of both genders. Whites have managed to make themselves known since their recent appearance as excellent Thread fighters able to flame regardless of their small size due to an agility that surpasses even the smallest green. They also seem to have a knack for going between and often report that they ‘always know where and when they are’. A White is fully mature at the age of 2.5 Turns of age, regardless the gender, they are sterile. White can measure up to 10 to 15 feet tall (from shoulder), ranging from 85 to 95 feet long (nose to tail tip). |

Whers no matter the color or gender, do not have a gender restrictions. But some colors favor one gender to another most of the time, unlike their Dragon cousins. __________________________________________________________________

Gold - Female: Largest of the Whers within Pern, and the largest female in the colors. Their skin can come to any shades of gold from yellow-green, to the splendid gold like precious metal. Queens control all the other colors not only for their size but because of how strong minded a Queen is. They do not produce flame like the other colors for chewing firestone will make a Queen unfertile to produce any clutches. Queens will rise to mate one to two times a year, and producing a clutch of ten to twelve eggs at a time. A fully mature Queen is around 1.5 Turns of age and ready to mate. Queen Whers tend to favor girls highly over boys, it's rare to see a male Goldhandler. Queens can measure up to 5' to 5'6" tall (from the shoulder), and measuring from about 19 to 20 feet long (nose to tail tip).

Prowlers Wild & Tame Information
Basic Information:
Prowlers are very similar to Firelizards, and Whers. While their build and looks are nothing like that of their distant cousins, they still have similar traits. Prowlers can only be found on the Western continent, when one looks at their claws and feet it is easy to see how they came to be. Three claws on all four feet, as well as webbed. These beast are wonderful swimmers as well as runners. They are agile both in the water or on land, though commonly they are found on land then in water. The webbing also is found on the main claws, on the front paws the dew claw is not webbed enabling them to have a really good grip when they catch hold of their prey. Their upper fangs have the ability to slide in and out of sheaths along their jaws like the claws of a feline. The strength of their jaws is powerful enough to break bone. A Prowler's built and size is very similar to that of a Cheetah of Earth, sleek body and deep chest for large lungs, long legs for speed, and a long tail for balance. What is also noticeable is that they lack wings or a second set of limbs unlike those of the other creatures of Pern. Their hide is neither fur nor skin, it's more like skin with a very thin layer of velvety soft fur. While the males are just a bit taller, they look similar in size to a female, the only difference is their muscles. Females are much sleeker as they are the main hunters, stalking and fleshing out the prey. Males are thicker in muscle as they are the power behind a kill.
Colors found on their hide can be found in any shades of gold, tan, or brown. But the basic coloration is to blend with the environment around them as they hunt mainly on the fleefooters of the Continent. Whites are naturally runts, undersized and very weak. Most if any survive past pup-hood, mainly due to the fact parents will kill them off. Pitch black Prowlers are very rare, as they stand out when hunting and have a hard time surviving. Female Prowlers will rise to mate at around 3 Turns, males becoming sexually mature at 2 Turns. Only rising to mate once per Turn. A clutch is around 6 to 12 eggs, rarely does a dozen come about. Their eyes like their dragonic cousins change colors with their moods but when hunting it is stark white to blend in with their surroundings. A Prowler can not jump between like their other Dragonic cousins, nor can they talk or send images. But they are very sensitive to the feels of things around them, and sending out emotions themselves. Which has helped out when they hunt the fleetfooters.
Wild Prowlers:- Wild Prowlers only travel in mated pairs. Mated pairs stay together till death, if one is killed the other dies soon after from shock.
- Since they are only found in pairs, pups are driven off once they are mature, which is around 2 Turns old. They will and have used force to drive the pups off, even off their territories.
- Wild Prowlers are no more intelligent then your average feline, being very feral and dangerous. Due to their wild nature they are very cautious around people, even more so around Dragons.
- Prowlers will abandon their clutch if humans are close to the den, and if any scent of humans are around and eggs left. They will destroy the clutch. And make another den elsewhere.
- Prowlers have excellent eyesight in daylight, while at night it is better then average, though they choose not to hunt or prowl at night. Their sense of smell is extremely high as is their reflexes.
Tame Prowlers:- Prowlers are impressionable at birth, once they Impress they will never Un-Impress. Dieing if the one they are bonded to dies.
- Tamed Prowlers will never be found in mated pairs. Due to the bond they share with their Bonded they will rise to mate but not bond.
- Tamed Prowlers are extremely intelligent more then even a Dragon. Able to figure out puzzles, understand anything their Bonded tells them, and even found to learn like that of a person.
- Tamed Prowlers unlike their Wild Cousins can work in teams up to 6, usually an Alpha will lead the group along side a Beta.
- Tamed Prowlers will have the instinct to hide their clutch when it's time to lay. They will not lay where another's scent is. Going off and finding a den to lay in. If the den is found they will abandon the eggs leaving it open for Humans to take and find any who wish to Impress. If the clutch is not found by the time the eggs hatch the pups will become feral causing the Parent to abandon them.
Impressing Information:
If a Prowler Impresses they can not talk like Whers or Dragons, nor can they send images like a Flitt. But oddly enough once they Impress the Bonded Human immediately knows their name the females ending with “KA” and the boys ending with “KO”
Example: Lerik bonded to Prowler Leriko, Carla bonded to Prowler Carlaka
The trait to feel and send emotions is still there, though it weakens when they Impress to the point that is can be weakly felt by others, but strongly to their Bonded and visa versa. When a Female rise to mate she will go off and lead a chase, sizing up the males. A Male will not “catch her” she will drive off the other males to leave the chosen, where the two will mate. They make great companions when hunting fleetfooters. And fun partners when swimming. Tamed Prowlers are overly possessive of their Bonded making it nearly impossible for them to Impress anything else. But if one is Impressed with a Prowler, rarely, but it does happen, one can re-Impress to another Prowler. That is if the one who wishes to re-Impress has the time for one is dedicated to raising a Prowler for 2 straight Turns, even after that the are slightly dependent, looking to their Bonded for shelter, love, and companionship. While on the other side they are very happy to hunt for themselves.
