Appearance: Korai is average height, 5’7” with sharp classical features, very angular cheekbones and nose. She has a medium frame and carries herself well, usually standing or sitting with perfect posture. She wears her blond hair long and often in a bun at the back of her neck, but she will also wear it in a long braid when she's in a hurry.

She normally wears no nonsense clothes in plain colors, white or brown, though when she does were color it is usually blue to match her eyes or green to match her dragon. She usually has a smile on her face, especially when she’s reading something. When she’s teaching however, she wears a much more serious expression and it’s rare she’ll give a genuine smile, even though she enjoys teaching immensely.

Personality: Korai is very studious and enjoys reading and history. She likes to spend her free time with old manuscripts reading up on the famous figures of history and secretly loves romantic ballads and love stories. She is always polite and friendly with strangers, but the full warmth of her personality is only known to those close to her.

Her sense of humor is very bad. She can't tell jokes well and often doesn't get them when she hears them. She does manage the occasional sarcastic quip, but it's not often. She has a slight temper, especially when it comes to people who make her feel stupid or when arguing over some historical topic. She tries not to, but when doing tasks she finds boring her mind will wander and she'll imagine herself as one of the heroes of history she reads about. She'd a hard worker and hates to leave a task unfinished.

While teaching, she’s incredibly serious and much more stern. She’s not a friendly teacher, but isn’t mean about when candidates misbehave or screw up. She will lecture, at length, however to make sure people get the point and are listening.

Faults: Too serious, little sense of humor and somewhat arrogant.

Strengths: Incredibly intelligent and dedicated to her work.

History: Korai was born in mid-summer at the local Hold of Crescent Weyr. She is the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. Her father is a cook at the Hold, and her mother a laundress. At a young age she took an interest in learning, spending extra time with the Harpers to learn as much as she could about everything. She excelled at history and memorized the important historical figures, especially dragon riders. She can name most of the Weryleaders in chronological order.

When she wasn’t studying, she worked with her mother in the wash room of the Hold, but always found the task boring, not challenging and often would day dream while helping. Her sister was sent to become a Harper for her exceptional singing voice, while her brother is still at the Hold as a watchman as he is bonded to a wher.

When she was 18, she was Searched by a rider from Crescent Weyr and stood for a hatching. There she Impressed green Faeth. While her dragon is a free spirit and much more inclined to have fun, Korai took her Weyrling lessons very serious, as she did with all lessons. The two graduated and after a few months, Korai asked to apprentice to a Weyrlingmaster. Her goal is to become a Weyrlingmaster. This was sidelined due to the plague. She was very worried during the whole move about Faeth getting sick and watched her dragon closely.

She was relieved when they both made it to Solace safely. There she was granted the position of Candidatemaster which she sees as one more step towards her eventual goal of Weyrlingmaster. Faeth is trying to get her to relax but all she wants to do is work.
