This is also a personal note to myself since I have also found out that there is actually a lot that not many people know first hand about what animals or plants are found. Many native and a good amount of imported animals thrive across Pern's lands. As seen below is a list of both native and imported fauna. Please note that this isn't a 100% accurate list. There may be things added on or discovered through the books as the series continues.

Native:

• Buzzing flies
• Fireflies
• Vtol
• Bedbugs
• Crawlers
• Rollers – a type of wood louse
• Springs
• Millipedes
• Sandworms
• Earthworms
• Trundlebugs
• Snakes – pernese ones have turtlelike faces and lived in the jungle
• Tunnel snakes – land and water types can be found across Pern
• Packtail -- similar to Terran monkfish
• Fingertail -- a small carp-like fish
• Spiderclaw -- a crab-like creature
• Red Fin -- a large game fish
• Bloodfish -- a parasite
• Wherry
• Firelizards

Imported:

• Dolphins - “shipfish”
• Spiders - “Gossamer spinner “
• Grub
• Wild Felines - various sizes and hide patterns. Cheetah fetuses were used as a base for their design and engineering.
• Various fish and marine life
• Llamas
• Runners - horse, draft and race type
• Caprines - goat
• Ovines - sheep
• Porcines - pig

• Chickens -- exist only in small numbers and where protected from tunnel snakes
