I stared at the Murkrow, and wondered what the chances of me beating it with an untrained pokemon would be. hmm.. probably not very good. Well, we'll use Cassie and make it a bird on cat battle! That should be interesting.
"Cassie, come on out!" I said, tossing the pokeball. The little kitty appeared, looking around. She seemed bewildered by all the people, several of which were casting weird glances in our direction as they pushed past.
Murkrow crowed again. He had spotted us. "Okay Skitty, use attract!"
Skitty jumped down and disappeared in the legs of all the people. I spotted a dash of pink near the foot of the lamp post, then Skitty was scurrying up it. I briefly over the heads was able to see her flutter her eyes and make a cute look at the Murkrow, who in turn blushed. Unable to attack his new-found love, Murkrow just stared down at Skitty from his post.
"Good!" I shouted over the noise, pushing my way to the post. "Now use water pulse!" Skitty opened her mouth and shot three rings of water up at Murkrow, striking him and knocking him off balance. He flapped to regain his perch, then angrilly flew in at Cassie, pecking her on the head. Skitty hissed, swatting at him.
"Use assist!" I said, remembering the new attack. Skitty swung her tail in annoyance, then aimed it at Murkrow. A bunch of little needles shot out, pricking Murkrow in the wings. It was Nidorino's poison sting! The attack didn't do much damage though...
Murkrow seemed reluctant to attack his attackor; she was just too cute. "Quick Skitty, use assist again!" I shouted, enjoying playing with the new attack. She did; this time, she bound at Murkrow while he was flapping in the air nearby and pecked him, before landing on her feet on the ground. It was Hoothoot's peck!
The flow of people began to give us a little more space for the battle, and a few kids even gathered around to watch. "Great, an audience..."
Murkrow still seemed reluctant to attack the attractive Skitty, but dived down and pecked her in turn again, doing less than average damage due to the level difference. "Skitty, assist!"
This time, a small flurry of embers shot from her fluffy tail, singing Murkrow's feathers. The bird squacked in surprise, as did the audience. "Well, that was from Charmander, to be sure." Murkrow was snapped out of his inflatuation at this point. Apparently he didn't like being burned. He swooped in and used astonish; but it did'nt affect Skitty! I almost laughed at his confused expression.
"Again, assist!" This was the finishing blow; from Skitty's tail came a small electric bolt, which was super effective against the already wearing out Murkrow. Murkrow plopped to the sidewalk, fainted. The kids cheered! Then rushed to pet the victor, who simply loved all the attention. I let her have her moment, and meanwhile pulled out a Team Meltdown pokeball. I didn't necessarily need another flying type, but Team Meltdown could use a dark type. I tossed the pokeball, and it pulled Murkrow inside. Being fainted, the bird didn't resist, then the pokeball flickered and disappeared to Meltdown's base...

"Come on Skitty, time to get going." Purring, the now famous kitty cat reluctantly left her fans, waving heroically farewell with her fluffy tail.
"Oh the drama..." I mumbed under my breath. I decided to take a less crowded street through the city, and turned down a side street to the right. Skitty followed at my heals, still glowing from her moment in the spotlight. I just couldn't wait to see how she would be after winning a contest ribbon...
After getting about half way down the street, I realized I was going the wrong way. The mall was in the opposite direction. Great. I looked around. I was only one block off main street, between the pokemart and the building directly behind it. The tall pokemart skyscrapper cast a long shadow over the road, and looked like it would be a good place for finding city pokemon.
Skitty tensed by my side. She didn't like this place. I looked back to the sunny crowded street about half a block away, and decided I liked this lonely alley better. But Skitty didn't, so I recalled her. In her place, I called out Kira.
The lovely little Charmander appeared looking rather peevish. "What's wrong?" I asked, rather confused. She turned her tail to me, arms crossed. "Char." she said snottily. Oh, I get it. She was mad I'd gone without training her for so long. "Well, fine. How about I make it up to you with a gift?" I asked, plopping my steadily-getting-heavier sack on the ground. I dug through it until I found a firey looking disc. It was one of my fire blast TMs. She turned around tentively, curious, then gave in and waddled over. I activated the tm, handing it to her, it glowed for a moment, then broke. Kira tossed it to the ground with a clatter.
"Perfect; now you can burn things even faster!" I said, rather pleased with this new option. I then turned to continue walking down the alley, looking for something to train against.
Then I saw the shimmering star of fire heading straight for us.
"Aack! Kira, quick, FIRE BLAST!" Impromptu like, Kira fired off her new attack just in time; a small explosion in the alley, then the smoke cleared and I recognized a familiar face. "Interesting," I murmered to Kira, then walked towards the figure.
"So, randomly firing at shadows, eh? I like that," I said to the trainer.
He gapped for a moment, then replied, "I didn't expect to meet you here! What are you up to in this city?"
"Well, I was actually headed to the mall, but I'm simply horrid with directions," I laughed. "After the mall I was going to go to the first contest hall, then I was going to go to... er.. " I stopped, smiling. "Well, you know, other stuff."
Charmander was flaring her little nostrils at Charmeleon untrustingly. "Knock it off," I ordered, "these are friends; there will be no battle here." I turned back to the trainer. "I just got a reading that another ...friend... was nearby, so thought maybe I'd head this way, without really realizing it was the wrong way from the mall. Oops."
"I see," he replied back. "Perhaps I could accompany you to the mall as there is an item I need to get from the mall as well," he said.
"Hmm... Yeah, I guess that could work. There's something I've been needing to discuss with you anyways. Firstly, its about the new Sharma pokemon, Tarmo. I'm breeding you one, like it or not. "
We began walking one block south on the main road to the east. We had gone about one block when the corner of the Contest hall came into sight. "Oh! That reminds me!" I gasped. "I have some business to do here too before I go to the mall. Umm.. well, you can come with me if you like, otherwise, I'm sure I'll be meeting up with you again soon either way."
"Actually, I believe I see the gym up ahead. I will go there for now but I am sure we will meet again," he replied, then we parted ways for the time being. "Goodbye for now!"
I stood before the contest hall. It was decorated nicely, with red paint and a blue trim. Taking a deep breath, I went forward, the glass doors party to admitt me. Kira walked by my side, and together we entered the first of four buildings we had so long been preparing for...

After using the berry blender and the pc in the contest hall, I walked back out to the street with a new task in mind. Milotic was behind me, and still on the rush from watching her evolve, I wanted to do it again. So I pulled out Eevee's pokeball.
"Vee?" he questioned me, stretching. "Are you ready to evolve little fella?" I asked. The bright morning sunlight streamed down through the buildings, illuminating his soft brown fur. He considered this for a moment, then nodded excitedly, especially when I pulled out a slice of cake and a sparkler from my sack. After devouring the cake, he was greatly amused by the sparkler, and as the last sparks sizzled out from the stick, Eevee began to glow. I watched in fascination as his body slimmed, and reshaped into that of a beautiful Espeon.
"Espeon." he gasped, admiring his new reflection in the contest hall's window. Bella nodded in agreement. The new appearance would look lovely with her in a contest...

I was slightly confused as to how a raticate could be on level 13, being they evolved at level 20, but then remember how when playing my game boy that happened sometimes too, and it confused me then also, so I was alittle less confused about this.
And, this would be a good chance to work with one of my new pokemon!
But who to use? Well, I knew Milotic had a naturally high defense, which would be handy for sure against this pokemon, so I decided on her. I signalled to her, and she slithered in front of me. "Milotic, use wrap! Get a hold on that pest!"
