It's a very angsty story, so dark colours. It's also an Itachi/Naruto (yaoi, guy/guy) romance, although it's more implied than anything.

The rundown: Naruto fell in love with Itachi but realized it much too late; Itachi had already left the village after slaughtering his clan. Naruto obsessed over becoming strong enough to join him and strong enough to protect him from Sasuke's revenge. Itachi, on the other hand, wants to protect Naruto from the Akatsuki and, during their encounters throughout the story, feeds him hateful lies about his feelings. Despite it all, both Naruto and Sasuke are seeking power and will stop at nothing to get it.

((also, I hope it's alright that for the first subtext option I used lyrics. If I need to credit, the lyrics are Friends and Alibis by Escape the Fate))
