Welcome to Setter Weyr! We are a new semi- to non-canon Dragonriders of Pern roleplay with a unique, twisted plot. We are looking for candidates and riders of all ages.
Dragonkind hangs on the brink of extinction. There is no clutching dragon alive. There was a golden egg, but it hatched to reveal a male mutation. There is no way for another clutch to occur. A'syr, L're, and J'me have decided to take it into their own hands, even against the wishes of the former weyrleader, F'lion. With risks so high and the ever-present threat of Thread, they are Setter's last hope...

Weyrbowl The Weyrbowl is not a part of the weyr, but most of the weyr. It is the dip in which the weyr is situated. Weyrs dot the cliffs of this crater, and all passages open here at some point. There is a lake for washing dragons or swimming, and a lot of open space for lifting off for flight.

Lessons Weyrling Lessons and the occasional Candidate Lesson are held here, in the middle of the Weyrbowl. Fresh air is good for your soul! However, try to arrive on time and be polite...your 'Master won't stand for any backtalk.

Dragonrider Weyrs For all those cheating weyrmates and other soap opera dramas...wait, that never happens in a weyr! In any case, this is where adult dragons and their riders live, or weyrlings with dragons too large for the barracks. All the weyrs open into the Weyrbowl and have a ledge for the dragon to lift off.

Candidate and Weyrling Barracks Candidates and new Weyrlings belong to the two barracks, one for Candidates and one for Weyrlings. Much fun is to be had and it is here many life-long friendships are struck. The separation of males from females is loose, but the punishment for them -ahem- being together are all the more severe. Weyrlings are moved from their Barracks when their dragons grow too large.

Lower Caverns This is the source of food and a place where almost all chores are often performed. The dining hall is a marvelous place that is well-lit and heated. The pale stone walls lack much decor, but there are a few small tapestries. Surrounding tunnels, however, may be dim, dank, and hazardous. Watch out for tunnel snakes!

Hatching Sands The hatching sands are placed inside the Weyrbowl near the queen weyrs. A man-made roof has been constructed over the sands to protect them from the unforgiving elements, and stands line the area. The nice thing about the sands being where they are is that there is enough space for all spectators to watch.

Stables Located on the opposite side in the weyrbowl from the Hatching Sands, this is Setter Weyr's newest structure. It's capable of comfortably holding up to twenty runners in stalls. There are two large paddocks.

The Skies of Pern Want to go for a ride and spend some quality time with your dragon? Is your green proddy? Is there a strange silver substance falling from the heavens? in any case, all flights, dragon rides, and Threadfights will take place here. Hopefully Threadfall and a flight won't happen at the same time.

The Jungle No, this has nothing to do with Chicago's meat-packing industry. It is the Southern Continent and quite tropical, so rainforest-like jungle is to be expected. The jungle is valuable to the weyr since many different herbs for healing or different fruits and other foods may be ofund here. Watch out for roaming felines!

Shnecke Beach If you were to look up the word 'paradise' in a dictionary, you would find a picture of this beach. The sands are white and are touched delightfully by cerulean ocean waters. The water is not deep and one can see straight to the bottom. There is a well-worn path from the weyr to the beach- it's only a ten minute walk. Occasionally flitter eggs will be found here.
