SGA: The Lost Season

Naomi Campbell


Naomi watches Mitch’s movements with interest. Her eyes follow his movements with the device. When he picks up his tablet, her eyes move between the tablet in Mitch’s hand and Mitch’s face, and then back to the tablet.

Naomi edges closer to him as he turns the computer at a better angle for her. Naomi looks over the readings, shifting closer to Mitch to get a better look. She pushes a few strands of hair behind her ear. As she looks closely at the readings, her glasses begin to slip down her nose, but she pushes them back up in time. She muses aloud. “The capacity is higher that the normal lifesigns detectors...” She looks back at Mitch, "Do you suppose there's a way of stablising the fluctuations?" Her brain ticks over potential ways of doing so.

Kasie Markham



Kasie grins, seeing Sonja's reaction to her speaking Czech. She can't help but have a big grin, herself. (Just give me a chance and I will say it twice.) her eyes dart towards their babysitters again. Until she mentions their boss. Kasie can't help it. She blushes. Badly. And quickly tries to cover it up. "Actually, I am Czech."

Kasie's eyes search Sonja's face, hoping she wasn't still red as a tomato. "My Mom and Dad are from Besiny. Ít's a small town in the Sumava mountains. When Mom found out she was pregnant, they both wanted to go to North America to make a better life for me. They ended up in Minnesota and I ended up here." She grins, praying to God that she hasn't noticed her blushing at the mention of Doctor Zelenka.

It was really just an innocent remark. It was *supposed* to be an innocent remark. However, Markham's reaction cannot stay unnoticed. Whem Sonja mentions Zelenka, Markham blushes hard. (Uh -oh ... you - gotta - be - kidding - me...) She tries to hide her ... no, surprise is not the right word. And Kasie, equally, tries to mask her embarrassment.

(You gotta be kidding me, volume 2!) Sonja already forgot what she was up to and listens to Markham's story. (Just don't ask on mine and we will get along.) Not that its necessary. Some points of her life are obviously well known in Atlantis. And many people are smart enough to *not* ask her for the rest...

"Well... we are in an Ancient Lab, surrounded by many hi-tech gadgets, but the biggest susprise of the day is doc Kasie Markham herself..." And Sonja adds a brief smile so her words should not be misunderstood for sarcasm. (Let's build a secret alliance and get rid of the army...)

"Takže až se proti nim budem potřebovat spolčit, nemusíme používat tajný kód. To se jim líbit nebude*, " she sneers. (And I should better start to watch my dirty mouth. This place is more infected with Czechs than I thought...)

Kasie Markham



Deep inside, Kasie heaves a huge sigh of relief that Sonja doesn't call her on it. She didn't really talk about it much. While she was quite cheerful and friendly with most everyone, she didn't really have anyone she could confide in on Atlantis. Well, there was Doctor Brennan, but a shrink isn't much of a friend.

She finally manages to get control of herself and is able to grin at the surprise she's given Sonja. (Wow, I guess Mitch was right. I can't believe I didn't try this before.) Kasie makes a solemn vow to never, ever pass judgment on someone she didn't know like that again.

She grins mischievously, sparing a glance for the captain then looking back at Sonja, eyes sparkling. She'd been dying for a chance to get rid of their babysitters. It was no great secret that they didn't want to be there. "Celek člen určitý více domlouvat až k činit ono.*" She grins, attempting to look like they're just talking about work, actually doing something constructive.

"Well, that is precisely what we are going to try to figure out." Mitch gives Naomi a big grin as he looks at her. As exciting as discovering new technologies is for him, discovering what they are and most importantly what they do is far more invigorating. "That is why we're here now isn't it."

Naomi smiles back. “Very true…” She quickly looks back at the readings on the tablet. “What have you tried so far? Or is it a case of starting from scratch?”

Mitchell Dawson


"In this case we have a jump start." He replies as he spares another glance at Naomi before turning to the tablet screen. (Work...focus on the work.) "Like you pointed, this device does have a higher capacity but see here," He points to a group a data streaming across the screen. "This seem to indicate some form of inert Ancient software. However when we try to access it..." He taps a few buttons on the screen and almost immediately an error message pops up. "...this happens."

Naomi listens carefully to Mitch as he talks through what he has found out so far. She watches the screen of the tablet as he points out the data stream and the error message that pops up after he tries to access it.

“Have you tried changing the sim card?” She keeps her tone serious while keeping a straight face, which lasts all of two minutes before she smiles at him, a sparkle in her eye.

"You see, its a good thing you're here." Mitch returns her smile as turns his head to look at her. "It probably would have taken me another week to think of tryin' that." (Stop flirting, you twit. You're making an idiot out of yourself.)

His eyes flash back to the tablet focuses on the error message still on the screen. "Why don't you go ahead and give that a try." He says as he taps the screen to clear the message. He glances at her with a smaller smile. "You can see what you can do with this device and I'll start the preliminaries on one of the others."

Naomi blushes. “Glad I could help.” Her eyes dart between his face and the device, unable to hold Mitch’s gaze for long. To her relief he diverts his attention back to his tablet.

She watches as Mitch clears the error message that was still on the screen of his tablet. Her eyes move back to his face when he glances at her and she smiles back. His smile was infectious and it made her feel a little less embarrassed around him. (His eyes light up when he smiles...)

“Er...” Naomi clears her mind of these sort of thoughts quickly. “Ok.” She crouches down to scrabble around in her bag before pulling out a cable. Grabbing hold of her tablet, she stands up again before turning back to Mitch to take the device and set to work.

“Er...Ok.”

Mitch watches Naomi as she crouches down to dig in her bag. Oh come on you should just tell her already. (What?) Fine play dumb. He diverts his attention back to the device in his hand as the other scientist stand up. Unhooking his cable from the device before holding it out for her. "Here you go." He can't help but smile again. "If you need anything I won't be far. I mean I'll be right over here."

(Close enough if I need him... but hopefully far enough away that I won’t be distracted...) She reaches out and takes the device from Mitch. “Th-thank you.” She looks up into his face again and sees his smile. She blushes and looks back at the device now in her hand to plug in her cable. Once she has plugged her cable into the device, she places it back on the desk so she wouldn’t drop it when she plugs the other end of the cable into her tablet. She decides to start from scratch, just so she felt more comfortable with the device and how it works. (Become one with the device...) She smiles to herself as she pulls up the schematics on her tablet.

Sonja nods at Kasie Markham, wondering how comes that people can still surprise her. She has already stuffed Markham to the cathegory "annoying yet harmless"... Annoying - meaning her die-hard optimism, and harmless - well she was skilled scientist and always nice. BUt, apparently, Sonja somehow missed her hidden evil side. Maybe its time to re-think the *cathegory* decision.

Sonja smirks, giving their army *friends* one last look. "Ať se jdou třeba vycpat, jen ať mi nepřekáží v práci a nesahaj na nic."*
(Let's behave.)
Sonja looks around. "So what else do we have to..." Her eyes fall on the unusual and almost amusing couple. (Wow wow, and what is that...?) It almost looks like her 'Christie', doctor Campbell (how could she call her by name with a serious face?!) found herself a new friend. The corner of her lips curls up. What an interesting day it is.

Kasie practically snorts at the getting stuffed comment. (That's putting it nicely.) Her eyes glance towards the military people again, an evil look in her eyes. "Děláš si legraci? 'Nedotýkejte se' překládá jako 'Nechte toho!' Ve vojenském žargonu."*

The scientist is ready to get back to work when Sonja's sentence trails off. She looks up at her colleague, no longer seeing her as she once had, wondering what was wrong. She follows her line of sight towards the other two scientists in the room. "No, měli byste se na to!"** Her arm not holding the tablet drops to her side as she watches, highly amused. "Tolik za to, že stydlivá holka." She looks at Sonja, shock and amusement playing on her face.
