Current Plot: Pre-plot - The main plot has started and progressed to a point where it can be held off until we are ready for our Grand Opening. The Main Plot will commence once the board is fully established and we have given a chance to introduce new characters and member.

:: CAUTION :: The following may contain spoilers THE BEGINNING
On one planet that the Ancients had seeded life, there existed a bug known as the Iratus bug. This bug would attach itself to the neck of a humanoid and feed off the life force of the human. This life force would strengthen the bug, allowing it to heal quickly and become nearly impossible to kill. Over a few thousand years, after feeding on humans, a new race was born that became known as the Wraith. Sometime later, during the war with the Wraith, several Wraith Hive Ships destroyed all Ancient colonies until Atlantis was all that remained. Hive ships went to Atlantis and started the first siege of Atlantis. The Ancients managed to defeat the hive ships every time they came, but were impossibly outnumbered, so the Ancient Council decided to sink the city underwater for protection from weapons fire. Atlantis was attached to the ocean floor with a series of intricate clamps while the city shield held back the ocean. Towards the end of the war with the Wraith, the Ancient Janus rescued Elizabeth Weir from a Puddle Jumper which had been shot down by the Wraith. This Jumper was a time machine, designed by Janus himself. It had accidentally transported Dr. Weir back in time. During this time it was decided, by the Council, to abandon the city and return to Earth via the Stargate. The ship was ordered to be destroyed. Elizabeth was told she could return to Earth with the Ancients. Unknown to the council however, Dr. Weir secretly stayed behind in stasis as part of a plan devised by Janus. She rotated the city's ZPMs every 3300 years so that when her expedition team rediscovered Atlantis in 10 000 years’ time, the shield would hopefully have enough power to continue to hold back the ocean so they wouldn't drown like they did in her timeline. Janus also programmed a failsafe into the city so that if power reached a critical level the clamps holding the city to the ocean floor would release, and Atlantis would rise to the surface once more. Melia, a member of the Council, left this message for anybody who might rediscover Atlantis in the future: "… In the hope of spreading new life in a galaxy where their appeared to be none. Soon the new life grew, prospered. Here we built a network of Stargates... ...exchange knowledge and friendship. In time, a thousand worlds bore the fruit of life in this form. Then one day our people stepped foot on a dark world where a terrible enemy slept. Never before had we encountered beings with powers that rivaled our own. In our overconfidence, we were unprepared and outnumbered. The enemy fed upon defenseless human worlds like a great scourge, until finally only Atlantis remained. This city's great shield was powerful enough to withstand their terrible weapons, but here we were besieged for many years. In an offer to save the last of our kind, we submerged our great city into the ocean. The Atlantis Stargate was the one and only link back to Earth from this galaxy, and those who remained used it to return to that world that was once home. There the last survivors of Atlantis lived out the remainder of their lives. This city was left to slumber, in the hope that our kind would one day return." THE ATLANTIS EXPEDITION
It was Doctor Daniel Jackson who was able to determine the final symbol for the dialing sequence. After a short discussion with Doctors McKay and Weir, they presented the prospect to General Jack (Jonathon) O'Neill who at first gave them a green light, but hesitated when he realized they would need to use the only, and severely depleted, Zero-Point Module (ZPM) they had. However, after some convincing, Doctor Weir had the green light from the SGC and began informing her team, which she had been choosing form onths, that they were going to explore this lost city. Even at the risk of never being able to come back to Earth. Almost at the last minute, an integral part of Elizabeth's team was added to the ranks; Major John Sheppard. A military man who had a tendency to go against orders but was one of the rare humans who possessed the Ancient gene that activated the Antient technology with very little effort on his part. this was discovered after he sat in the chair that controlled the Antient weapons platform and it activated immediately. After an effective speach on Weir's part, and some combattive words between Colonal Marshall Sumner, the ranking military officer, and Major Sheppard, the team departs after the MALP determines that the city on the other end of the wormhole is safe. After the last of the team has come through the gate, Weir offers greetings from the Pegasus Galaxy and gives the SGC permission to cut power to their gate. Before they do, a bottle of champaigne rolls through the event horizon from General Jack O'Neill. From this point on, the team encountered many obstacles, including the loss of several expedition leaders and many dear friends. But on balance, they also gained many more friends among the Pegasus stars. With strange new monsters, alien princesses and fascinating planets at every turn, the Atlantis Expedition Team is rarely bored. This has been decided so that new characters can be introduced in a way that will not get in the way of everything else, and so that we don't need to scramble once we know what the new movie will be about.
