 Gamma World, Mutated flowers and Humanoid Mayhem!

That's right, I said mutated flowers! One of my most memorable games was when a friend of mine built a mutated sunflower that had explosive seed pods on his face! He shot them by squeezing them like zits using his 'hands', (the leaves of his stalk).

One session, one of the other guys playing a minotaur style humanoid grabbed him during a fight and used him like a club...you can guess the outcome! laugh.gif

Gotta love that 1st Ed. GW random character generation system. I'm a big green moose, yeah, that's it, who has... *rolls dice* wings and can fly! And I have... *rolls dice* plant tendrils! Yeah, tendrils, and I also have... *rolls dice* purple radioactive eyes!

Add that to the 'artifact use' table, and you had a big green radioactive flying moose who had to roll on a chart to avoid killing himself while figuring out how to use a blender as a melee weapon.

They just don't make mutants like they used to....

Who here has played GAMMA World? My first and best experience with it was the third edition, the one with the guy riding the giant badger looking thingy. It was one of the coolest games on the market at the time in my book.

One of my fondest memories was when one of my players created a sentient, mobile sunflower with explosive seed pods on his face. He would pop them like zits and shoot them at his enemies. It was hilarious.

Of course, it was dangerous for him too, one of the other fellows played a minotaur like humanoid bull and, during a melee, grabbed him by his stalk and smacked his opponent with the sunflower's face. The sudden detonation of all the seed pods killed the opponent and the sunflower character. The minotaur was blown back thirty feet and had all his fur singed off his face and chest, and was scarred by it so that he could never grow any more.

I still have the main books, I'd love to get a game of this going at some point.

Now, are you looking to start a game sometime in the future, IN ADDITION to your efforts on Afterworld? Or is that brought on by the desire to do a game in this system?

Kind of both really! I wouldn't mind seeing a classic GAMMA World game cooking here. It'd be fun! Can't say that I'd play in it though, got a lot going on now.
