I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan... in fact I haven't given him a lot of credit when it comes to deep and meaningful acting, however The Last Samuri I would have to admit is one of his better performances. Not only that, he is surronded by some very good and emotional actors who do a great job at supporting his own role.

We purchsed the DVD for it a few weeks ago and watched it last weekend.

If you haven't seen it, do. Its a great movie with alot of emotion and makes you wonder why... WHY ??????????????? (Trys not to give too much away.) Its also got some good scenes battle/sword fighting scenes in it.

I agree. A very good movie, and in my opinion, Tom was out done by the Japanese cast.

Definitely! I'm always a little put off by his acting, but this time it was good. The film itself covered up his shortcomings. You're right Shaun, the Japanese cast was better!

LOL. WheeeeW! I just didn't want to openly admit that in case I offended some Cruise fans.

Excellent film, Tom (who I do like as an actor in most movies, I do not think he is the best actor though) did a really good job. I think the rest of the cast made him work harder to better his performance. I did not see this one until i got it on dvd and I regret not seeing it on a bigger screen.
