What didn't work, the free board, or the address? There's a link to the invisionfree site at the bottom of this site's pages.

None of that. But when i wanted to create a Category and Topic, they did'nt show. And I ain't the big expert on HTML so i dropped it.

But if you could help me out, i would appreciate it.

Yes... It would be quite helpful if you would post your advice here. That way, those of us who are, um, HTML challenged, can perhaps put up our own sites someday!

I tried a forum, just don't know how to create a board...

Posted by: jamfke Sep 23 2005, 05:16 PM
Okay, when you log into your forum, you should see a link at the top that says AdminCP. This is your Administrator's Control Panel. You will find a menu on the left side of the screen that has all sorts of useful tools. One of these tools it New Category. When you click that, the creation page pops up in the window beside the menu. Examples of categories in this board are PBP, Works, Promotions & Links, etc.

Once you've created the category, then you click the New Forum link in the menu on the left. You go through that process and select which category to put it in. Then you're ready to begin posting topics in the forum.

What does it mean to pin a topic?

What does it mean to pin a topic?

Selecting Pin Topic or whatever will place that topic ahead of all others in the forum and leave it at the top. All others will jump up and down as they get posted to, but the pinned topic will always stay on the top of the page.

If you pin several topics, they will jump around like the others, but they will always stay at the top of the page.

How do change those those images that indicate new posts? Just like you're D20's.

Posted by: jamfke Sep 24 2005, 05:15 PM
Back in your Admini CP, in the menu on the left, there is a heading called skinning and styles. In that section is a link for images. Clicking that will open up the image panel on the right of the screen. You'll have to host your images through image shack or a similar hosting service. Direct the source of the image for the things you want to change to the new url from the hosting service.

It will look like this:

CODE
<img src='http://i1.ifrm.com/style_images/<#IMG_DIR#>/t_closed.gif' border='0' alt=''>

Cut the image address inside the single quotes ' ' and then copy and paste your new image's URL there.

In other words, delete http:/ / i1.ifrm.com/style_images/<#IMG_DIR#>/t_closed.gif from between the ' ' and put your http:/ / www.image.... there.

After that, you have to check the box to the right of the image you've just changed and scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the Submit button.

And, TA DA, you've changed the image! Go back and check your forum to make sure your change took place.

Please, Jam! Come online and help me!

How do you change the color of the forum, just like you did, how? I just can't seem to et it right. I have changed some color codes under the 'Wrappings' and 'Style Sheets' but I go to my forum nothing has changed.
