In order to keep John William from having too much of an excuse to piss and moan (as though he actually needs one), I figured I'd start a single thread for containing my electronic love affair.

So yeah, the latest thing I came across in my quest to further my collection of chiptunes is something called Prizmatic Spray ( his myspace page ). All of the tracks available are fantastic, but the one that stands out the most to me is Ripcart.

As I've mentioned before, I don't go in for that techno beat that so many chiptune artist these days tend to go in for, so when I come across something that mixes it up I've just got to share!

Because deep down I'm a faggy New York hipster douche:

Crystal Castles - Loving and Caring

MySpace Page

Not strictly chiptune more electronic dance punk on most tracks.

Wow, way to bring our chiptune thread to a grinding hault. These fucks Crystal Castles are infamous thieves who have been plagiarizing original chiptune musicians (and other artists from other mediums) since the beginning of their shitty existence.

I can't account for this entire article, but here's the first thing that popped up when I searched for details.

Sorry if I seem a little worked up about it, but it's the culmination of my hatred for unauthorized plagiarism, the smugness I've witness from these two in interviews and an appreciation for what the people who are actually working to further this little scene have done.

Yeah I've read quite a few interviews with them hence the hipster douche reference even though they're from Toronto. But I don't know about them being thieves since what's difference between what they do and hip hop artists sampling other artists' music for their beat loops. Plus Alice Glass is hot.

I'm totally on a Wizwars kick lately. The following links are to full albums. All are great, all are free. He even throws in a couple of cover songs in for good measure so check them out!

Wizwars - City

Wizwars - Four

Wizwars - Living Under A Chip

Robotic Operating Buddy

Wizwars - Wave Traveller

Wizwars - Chipotle Nubs And Nacho Tunes For America, Canadia, and Scandinavia: A Fine Collection of Music Done Rigth by Wizards And Warriors

That last one even has an awesome cover of The Smiths "There Is A Light That Will Never Go Out" that is likely to cause John William's brain to hemorrhage.

Okay, so this isn't really chiptune stuff, more like a love letter to the nes sound (with a little c64 arpeggio style thrown in). It's a cover of one of the band's new tunes.

Original - Infrared (Instrumental mix)
Remake - Infrared (NES mix)

That's pretty rad, rahman.

So you're in a band? You should bounce over to the "Do Anything Creative?" thread and put up some more links or something.
