Engagement:
Give her/him a skull cross to protect against spirits. If she/he says yes, he/she gives you one too. Marriage: Let's not go into details, but it needs an agreement from Elder Cannibal and some sacrifice to the skygods. Divorce: Woman eats up the male. |

Sounds interesting.
Do expound a bit more Elder Cook, this marriage is new to me. -------------------- Tasty the Cannibal, Elder Cannibal of the Cult of the Sky-Blood, Philosophical Doctor, Rakmogak's First LL.D. and court lawyer.

Oh marriage?
Easy peasy. After we were disbanded into void people started to actually consider longer relations than: "We copulated, I eat you now". Marriage is the outsider word for it. We call it "rahmu weeyagr" = "bonded people". It is a pretty vague term, as you can marry more than one man/woman... |

It wouldn't happen to refer to the 500 metre length of braided jute tied to eachother's ankles, would it? I imagine some of those who eat every part of their meat might be interested in marring both men and women. |

Hmmmm... should both parties agree before I agree?

Naturally, Altough in our culture the other party isn't often asked whether it wants to become a dinner or not.
Marriage is different. There you practically share the meat with someone special, and therefore both parties' agreement is essential. Elder Cannibal's blessing is a must, though. He in his wisdom will oversee whether they are suitable for each other, or is the other one just trying to get a dinner through divorce. Mill said to me that cannibals are hard to understand. I can't get why. Edit: And jute rope has nothing to do with marriage. It is reserved to carriage purposes or getting fresh meat to Rakmogak. |

What about cannibal funerals? Do the deceased get eaten?

I'm pretty sure I am inanimate proof that they first get covered in a mask, and then placed inside the bone-filled caverns. And then quickly eaten by naughty children.

Funerals? Aren't they festive occassions? -------------------- Tasty the Cannibal, Elder Cannibal of the Cult of the Sky-Blood, Philosophical Doctor, Rakmogak's First LL.D. and court lawyer.
