Well, I don't know how it is over in Australia and the UK or other countries, but here in the States it has been horribly pricey to fill the tank on our automobiles.

We were used to about $1.30 per gallon of gas about 2 years ago. Then it hovered around $1.80 per gallon after a big $2.00 stint. We seemed to feel ok and lucky at $1.80 which I had predicted.

Now, suddenly, we are paying $2.28 per gallon of unleaded regular in Indiana.

What's it like where you are? It's very annoying to me to shell out $35 to fill my mini-van!

The gas prices have been outragious.

Yesterday I looked at every gas station I went pass on my home from college.
On my way home from college, which is a bigger city the gas for unleaded was $2.14. As I got closer to home the price went down to $2.10, $2.05. Then I came across a new Wal-Mart's who's gasoline was $1.96! I called my mom imediately with joy of seeing such a 'low' price. But then I started getting closer to my house and noticed again the price was $2.13.

When I first started college I was spending $35 a week to fill up my car with unleaded. I was attending college 4 times a week with about 30 some miles one way. This term I decided to go down to 2 days a week because of the gas price. I was also going ahead of schedule with my classes.

I know I'm young, but the lowest price I've ever seen for gas was $.83 a gallon. There were two gas stations in my area there were at 'war' with each other. This was the normal price of gas was about $1.40.

Sorry I'm just falling over laughing! You lot are so lucky! :D
Being in the UK, we pay about £35 for a tank of petrol for my car! That's about double what you pay! £35 = $66 My tank is around 42 litres... I dunno how much that is in US gallons...
And I used to live next to the BP Oil Refinary!! It was more expensive to buy from the BP garage 100 yards from the BP than to go 10 miles away to a Jet garage.
My granddad joined the protests when the petrol strikes were on a few years ago, he has nothing better to do now he's retired! LOL
But I was well annoyed because I couldn't get to see my bf of the time because there was no petrol... darn Labour government for you! The amount of tax we pay on petrol is phenomenal compared to elsewhere.

My tank is about 16 gallons. I don't know what that is in liters LOL!

Amanda, we had those prices last week. They went back up and have stayed there all week now. It's getting me really mad!

Here right now...Gas prices are running 2.02 a gallon. It only takes 20$ to fill my car up though...very small car. Hubby and I have been looking for a minivan but I might have to rethink that with gas prices.

When we first got this car we have now it was only costing us 8$ to fill it up. I miss the good ole days!

Ok I just thought I'd make you Americans feel better about what you're paying  . Here in the UK petrol is around 83p a litre which works out at $7.05 a gallon  .

If you think that makes me choke every time I have to fill up you're right! Even being as economical with travel as I can I do at least a hundred and fifty miles a week getting my daughter around and it's often more :( .

I'm working on the idea of instant teleportation :P

OMG!!!!!!!!!

I drive at a minimum 300 miles per week usually. That's driving the kids, and running errands mostly!

I'd be gasoline poor!

Now I know why they say people walk more over in Germany and stuff!

......... don't you have some babies I need to see??? <_<

Most weeks my miles are hitting around 300 too, 150 is when I've cut it to bare minimum :( and believe me I feel gasoline poor! That's why I'm working on the teleporting idea

To be honest, that's cheap! Here if you were to calculate the cost per gallon (we buy per liter) it would cost us over $4.00 CAD/$3.31 USD per gallon!

This is a real rip off since I live right in the province our gas comes from!

What really stinks is that I live in the 'country'ish LOL! I have to drive 15 miles plus to get to the nearest "store" besides food. I haven't been to the nearest "town" since gas rose as I spend enough gas on going to school.
I'm a homebody anyways. :P

That's what I was telling them Laura :P

We use litres too, and I'm pretty sure they changed over so that people didn't notice how much we were paying for a gallon any more  .

In the UK we're paying nearly four times the price of the US and twice the price of Canada - almost all of that is straight to the government, not to the oil/petrol companies.

I live in a really rural area too and unless I'm prepared to spend a couple of days walking up and down hills to the local shops etc cars are the only option round here. I enjoy walking but it'd take a day to get anywhere 'local' and a day back LOL.

I do get a bit heated about it occasionally <_<
