Title: Homefront - The Capt's Review
(RO)Capt. Ramius - March 18, 2011 02:46 AM (GMT)
I'll try to keep this short & sweet....
Positives* Incredibly fun & intense game
* Game runs incredibly smooth
* Have not seen one bit of lag (dedicated servers up to 32)
* Vehicles rock!!
* Humvees handle with ease and run very smooth (as good or better than the ones in BF2)
* You can buy a vehicle at the spawn screen at any point during the game if you have enough battle points, and you will spawn in that vehicle
* You can also choose to spawn into a team mates vehicle and you will be put into the turret seat and be able to mow down the enemy with a mounted machine gun.
* Lots of jspawn options
* Drones are kool as hell and also run very smooth, land & air drones
* Vehicles are easy to operate, simple controls
* The battle point system is genius. It keeps everything very balanced, and makes you think about what to buy and what not to buy during each battle.
* Lots of weapons, vehicles, equipment, abilities, etc...
* Graphics of the soldiers, weapons,& vehicles are really good. (see below)
* The game reminds me of Battlefield with a little bit of COD and MAG thrown in.
* Guns work great. Aiming and hit detection are superb.
* Love the sniper rifles, one hit kill for head shots only
* Maps are awesome. Some big mountainous areas which are sweet, then others are suburban areas with lots of tight building to building action.
* Really kool kill-cam
Negatives* Party system right now simply does not work. It will be patched soon.
***UPDATE --- New patch has fixed some issues with party system, however, still can only get 4 players in * Grahpics of the terrain are lacking, whcih does not bother me one bit.
* Cannot enlarge the in-game map to see the whole battlefield area.
* Had 2 freeze ups, but that is expected in the beginning, no big deal
Overall, I am having a blast on this game and highly recommend every single person in this clan to go and get it as soon as you finish reading this sentence....
... what are you still doing here. Go get it dumb fuck!!! :<!--emo&lol:-->

This game is something different from what we play( COD series). The game action is awesome!
(RO)MAJ.MOSH - March 18, 2011 10:42 AM (GMT)
Proudly playing the piss out of this game, It has even torn me away from KZ3 at the moment.
Once the party system is fix a lot of people i know are picking the game up.
I really feel RO would enjoy this game, It is well balance and a ton of fun.
Hope to see more on.

We have a patch going live this evening at 17.00 PST / 20.00 EST / 24.00 GMT. This will include:
• Fixes for intermittent problems accepting friend invites and joining friends’ games
• Several fixes for reported freezes
• Fixes related to joining matches, round transitions, and proper behavior on the match recap screen
• Additional bug fixes, including inaccuracies in ping meter, and player hosted servers not properly pulling score/time limit settings
For those of you experiencing difficulties with PS3, this update should make a significant difference.
So far i am impressed with the support we are getting for homefront yet another plus developers that give a shit OMG lol

I clicked the link. There is a lot of negative blogs at the bottom of the page. Many are stating that the update made things worse. Any truth to this?

about to go online and find out. I will report back from what i have been reading though there is still party issues.
(RO)MAJ.MOSH - March 18, 2011 05:28 PM (GMT)
Ok i manage to party up with ack_mindseye for 2 matches first one i joined it put me on the other team. After that i sent him a invite which he joined no probs, First game i tried to get us into failed and booted me, I joined his party again and this time we got in no problems.
So the party system is working but it is still a bit buggy. Manage to get in 2 games before another freeze up.
Ending result it is working but there is still freezing issues. They are adding more servers and did roll out this patch fairly fast so they are showing they care.
Up to you guys if you decided you want to get it now or later.
Side note clan support for homefront is just like COD and only tags nothing more.

I downloaded the first patch last night (Thursday) and it made a world of difference for the party feature. I was able to get me & 3 others including Noble & Lorderic, & Gonads in a party and get into many games. It actually works now. However, we tried to invite BigAnt & Devil and they could not connect. So for now it seems you can't get more than 4 in a party, but that should be short lived once the next patch comes out that will deal with specifically PS3 issues.
The party lobby allows for up to 16 players, so when this thing gets fixed, it would be insane to have 16 RO and others in the party and all go into a 32 player match, all on one team!!
All in all, I am having so much fun with this game!! It is a breath of fesh air. Besides the couple of bugs that will be fixed soon, this game works amazingly well. It just runs so smooth. The battle are intence as hell. Some of the best battles I've ever experienced online, not kidding. At any moment there could be Hellfire missiles raining down right next to you in a glorious explosion of fire a debris, while there is an apache heli swarming around shooting missiles and gatlin gun at you.
The balance of this game is awesome. There is never an over abuse of vehicles in the air. Since you have to make a calculated decision of when you want to buy a vehicle or drone to deploy, not everyone has them all the time. This system just simply works, and works well.

Much agree
This game is worth getting. The balance of it all is hands down some of the best balancing i have seen in a game. Not once do you feel overpowered by any certain class or ability.
I am staying with this game for awhile regardless how many get it in the clan.
Between RO, POST and various friends there are plenty to game with.
IMHO this is one of the best games that can go head to head with the COD series. Good graphics, amazing gameplay, perks, streaks, vehicles and above all damn near perfect balance.
Also I have to say it absolute best sleeper hit in a long long time!

lol balance, I played for about 3 hours today and the game is ok, I am sure it will get better with more time under my belt. However I can't agree about the abuse, every game I was in had atleast a chopper and tank etc at all times. Its annoying when you die 10 times and only 1 of those was getting shot by a gun, but its expected I guess. Something that you have to get used to if you play these types of games. I guess if I end up buying it I will just have to become a tank/chopper whore like most are. lol
Even with this update the party sytem is still f'd up. Gonads and I kept getting put on opposite teams whenever it actually allowed us to be in the same room.
I am going to play some more before I decide one way or the other but for now my opnion is the game is just ok.

Yes, the update from what I have noticed did not really do anything. Then again I did not have this game prior to it but reading what others experienced before it there is not much of a difference. Rob, I would suggest renting it before you buy it, but I am just trying to offer an honest opnion I am not sold out one way or the other yet.

Rock, paper, scissors.
Yes there can be a lot of tanks and choppers, This is where using battle points comes in. You have a pesky tank or chopper putting you down use your battle points to spawn a RPG and take the tank or chopper or hum v etc out.
Also another good way to go about it is using the flying UAV drone and spot the tanks, choppers even ground troops, Once there spotted your entire team can see them and lock on. With tanks i use a RPG followed right away by a grenade that alone damn near takes the tank out by that point with that much damage done the tank is a sitting duck for even gun fire to take it out at that point. 9 times out of 10 i see the driver ditch the tank and get shot.
That is what makes homefront stand out IMO. it may not seem like it now but you will get use to the game and how using battle points at the right time balances every thing out.
It really comes down to your team and how well they decide to use battle points. The chopper i will admit is the hardest to take out even more so when your lower ranked and have to use the RPG that doesn't have a lock on feature.
Leading the target for the shot on a tank is not to hard, The chopper on the other hand i will admit is harder to lead for a direct hit
Again Homefront is very user friendly yes BUT at the same time takes strategy and time to get use to! Comes down to what counters the best hence why i said Rock, Paper, Scissors.

I had the game before the first patch and the party system did not work at all, as I stated above. Since the patch the party system works, but not yet perfected. That was the only difference I saw so far with the first patch.

Ya, I understand what you are saying but I think it would have been nice to atleast limit the amount of choppers tanks etc for each team for a certain period of time and require them to use even more strategy to obtain the objective. IE only 3 tanks and 3 choppers out at a time per team etc. Anyway I played a little more and still havent decided one way or the other. I am going to spend some time on it before I choose...it's definatley not a game that someone should sell out on after only playing a few hours thats for sure, but we will see.

Played for 5 hours last night it was absolutely incredible!!! The party feature seems like its fixed we were able to get 7 people in a party and go into games without any errors.
This Is seriously 1 of the best games I've ever played online! I don't understand how anybody could say that this game is just okay or alright. Sounds to me like the COD KGB is out to suppress anyone that likes games besides the COD. lol

That was insanely fun last night! Party system is working just fine now. I manage to drop a white phosphorus airstrike right after you guys left, I played one more game just to see how the White Phosphorus strike works.
Best killstreak I had of the night from a attack, I manage take out 6 people with it. They were all bunched up together a B on angel ilands
LMAO @ COD KGB! Funny yet true!
Simply put Homefront is the closest game out that is a lot like Battlefield 2 modern combat! The only thing IMO that is missing is real true clan support and a one hit sniper rifle, which from what i have been reading on the Homefront forums there is talk of them upping the power of the M200(Bolt action rifle) People that hate snipers are crying like crazy for them not to up the power. Which honestly I do not think will stick as snipers are out weighing the cry babies :)
I have some more friends that may be picking up homefront. I have hope to get a 16 player party going one of these nights. There is a trophy for it.
For those wondering about the vehicles and strikes etc check out this video the guy covers every thing except the hum v. Also shows a easy way to take out the dreaded Apache chopper lol great video shows all.

ok guys I need back on there forums in this thread
http://www.homefront-game.com/forums/topic...4#comment-87464The thread is all about keeping the M200 nerfed the way it is instead of giving it the power buff it needs. The M200 is the bolt action sniper rifle pretty much the same thing as the CheyTac Intervention. The current state of the gun is 2 to 3 hits before it kills some one when it should honestly only take one hit from mid chest up.
Help me out guys :)

I had a blast last night! It was great to play online with the clan again. I haven't had that much fun since I first joined the clan and we were playing RFOM. My KD ratio won't be going positive anytime soon, but I do enjoy the game.

lol, you are defending it like I said its a horrible game or something. I said I have only played for a few hours and my first impression wasn't as intense as yours was just by looking at the cover. I plan to play some more to see if it is worth the money. I just want people to be able to read several different opnions before they go spend 60 bucks on it, like I would want to know had I not rented it.
If someone enjoys the run and gun type of games such as COD where everything is fast paced, smaller, and you are able to control more of a game since its smaller and may not like the idea of a game leveling the playing field between skill levels by smothering it with so many vehicles, then they may not like this game. But atleast they get an idea of what to expect before dropping the money on it. That is my point, to help give perspective(once again this is me only playing 4-5 hours) after this weekend I plan to play some more and will respond with my thoughts at that point.
I do however like the dedicted servers.
This link is a video similar to what Ramius experienced as soon as he grabbed his copy of Homefront off the shelf lol

This Is seriously 1 of the best games I've ever played online! I don't understand how anybody could say that this game is just okay or alright. Sounds to me like the COD KGB is out to suppress anyone that likes games besides the COD. lol

lol, you are defending it like I said its a horrible game or something. This link is a video similar to what Ramius experienced as soon as he grabbed his copy of Homefront off the shelf lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnWf1sQkjY |

This is a litle off topic but I think you will enjoy it, these guys along with the last video are known as the lonely island. The last video justin timberlake was the janitor in the store and now he is one of the guys singing in this one, its my favorite. Not sure if you have seen this or not but its ridiculous!

This game has worse conection issues than Black Ops! What a fucking joke! Even if you get in a lobby that has a decent connection, you have a 50/50 chance it will freeze/lock-up your PS3....

Yep among every Single COD game on PS3, BUT since it has COD in the title it is looked past.
Any ways another update from THQ & KAOS
Homefront Server Capacity Growing Again!THQ and KAOS Studios are continuing to dramatically expand our dedicated server capacity due to the welcome player demand across the globe. We are continually working around the clock to expand the global infrastructure & improve the overall experience. Below, you will find the efforts that we are making today and through the evening, having chosen the lowest impact times to ensure disruption of your online experience is kept at an absolute minimum.
Here is the current schedule for updates today and through the early morning hours:
Complete: Australia
We are pleased to say we will be more than doubling our existing server capacity on the continent. This maintenance period should last about 30 minutes. Players should expect to experience brief outages of multiplayer during this window.
Complete: Europe
European servers will undergo scheduled maintenance to increase our capacity for server monitoring and updates, in an effort to ensure the most stable environment for our users. In addition, even more servers will be brought online to assist in this welcome, yet unprecedented demand for online Multiplayer! Players should expect to experience a short period of disconnections during this timeframe.
Complete: North America
North American Servers will undergo similarly scheduled maintenance to what is being performed in Europe. We are happy to announce that even more servers will find their way online during this window as well – hopefully making for an even more enjoyable Sunday morning! Players should expect to experience a short period of disconnections during this timeframe.
We want to stress that Homefront is one of very few FPS games providing dedicated server support on consoles. The infrastructure and networking code required to support this is much more complex and demanding than you see in most titles. The return is epic large-scale warfare on huge maps, with more players & a level pitch for all – something we believe is critical for fair, balanced online FPS gameplay.
Every game that goes the extra mile to provide dedicated servers faces additional growing pains in the early going as the kinks are ironed out, but please bear with us as we address these – the results will be worth it!
Once again, we apologise for any disruption to your gaming, and thank you for your patience and support.

It amazes me that out of all the great & positive things that all of us have said about this game, those of you that don't have the game, will so gullably pussy out on buying it due to one very negative person saying that he hates this game. Even Smitty, notably the most negative out of anyone in this clan when it comes to new games, has said that he even is having fun with Homefront.
DON'T BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE HYPE!!!! IT'S TOTAL FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!
I have always been honest about new games. If it sucks I say it sucks. If its good I say its good. This game is different. This game is fucking incredible. And let me tell you all something... out of about 100 games I have played so far, I have only frozen twice, and have only been in a very few laggy servers. The vast majority of games I have been in have played more smooth than any fucking Call of Duty game ever!!!
These are dedicated servers people!!! Do you realize the expense and the complicated processes that this developer has to go through to get this shit right. The support we have seen has been stellar. Top notch!!!
For those of you who are not going to get this game based on buckers rant, I don't think you were ever planning on getting the game in the first place, no matter how good it is.
All I can say is YOU SUCKERS ARE MISSING OUT BIG TIME...

Just because it is expensive and complicated, doesn't mean it is good, or even works properly. In my experience, the KISS principle generally works the best. And I am not sure if you have noticed, but the game is not right. How many broken lobbies did we get in? How many fucked up connection and messed up rooms did we get in where everyone had a 1 bar connection? Dedicated servers? How does that work when 1 guy has 4 bars and everyone else has none?

Hey man, no problem. You are entitled to your opinion on the game. I have put in quite a few hours on this game on 2 different consoles.
I think it's mainly a difference in enjoyment of game speed. You enjoy slower games (i.e. SOCOM or MAG), and that is why you never enjoyed the COD series as much as others, because it is a twitch-shooter. Vehicles also have something to do with it. Yes, the vehicles are fun. But when you get in a room where everyone on the other team is spawning in Humvees and Tanks, the "shooter" aspect of the game is completely lost. Also, I differ from you in overall enjoyment of a game, the specific game I am referencing (the one where I was only dealing with destroying multiple enemy vehicles) I found to be not fun at all. I wasn't actually shooting anyone, we were getting our asses kicked, and all I was doing was dodging vehicles. But somehow you were "living the dream" and having a blast..... lol
And for the record, you have to use your own Battle Points to even use the RPG, Proximity Launcher, or the Rhino to take out enemy vehicles. So you are fucking yourself from getting your own Tank or chopper in attempting to take out the enemy vehicles.
I might make a video of what you guys have to look forward to with Homefront.... It's not like I am making this stuff up....

(RO)Texas Pride - March 21, 2011 01:26 PM (GMT)
I am willing to rent it, but the cluster fuck of vehicles does sound annoying. It sounds like there are way too many vehicles that one opponent can have and you get overwhelmed with the onslaught of opponent's tanks, choppers, etc. readneck
