Title: My Review OF:DR

The game is kool as hell. Very tactical of course. What you would expect from a military simulator. Me, Rob, & Devil played Co-Op last night in the campaign mission. The world is massive, and it is total sandbox, which means you can go anywhere. There are no boundaries. We did a flank manuver out in the ocean, and were swimming about 500 yards off shore to get around to the backside of this enemy hut.

Weapons are incredibly realistic and true to life. When sniping, you have to account for trajectory and gravity. Lots of different weapons, and a rank system to get more weapons and attachments as you move up the rank. Infared scope is awesome.

The graphics are better than I thought they would be. I have heard lots of complaints about the graphics, but I don't agree with those complaints. I think the graphics are just fine. The terrain and trees look good enough. Weapons look great. Vehicles are good too. One of the koolest things about it is the dynamic environment. Time progresses as in real life. The sun moves across the sky and casts shadows depending on the time of day. As you move through a mission, the sun will eventually set and turn to night, then you have to break out the night vision goggles.

Speaking of vehicles, the jeeps and trucks you can drive are pretty damn fast and can e-brake like a motherfucker into a powerslide!!! They are fun as hell. Devil and Rob got to fly the chopper, but both crashed after a short fly. Especially Devil. lol

It's definitly not a clan type of game, and if you like fast pace shooters only, you will not like this game. Plus the way it its set up for consoles is only 4 vs 4 online. Each of the 4 people on the team gets 3 AI guys that you command. Its really kool how they have it set up. You have to work as a team or will be toast!!!

I rented it, so I know me, rob, & devil will be on all this week. We need a fourth to at least rent it and get on with us.

Bucker, I think you would like this game alot. at least for a rental. Grab it if you get the chance on Monday and jump on with us this week.

I might try to rent it. But I have meetings Tuesday and Wednseday so I will be out of town. I will see what I can come up with this evening. I did like the trailers of the game, and I was wondering what you guys thought of it.

It's been awhile since a game kept me up longer than I should. It had me hooked. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!!! So many freakin' funny things happened. Just to mention a couple things......

1) I got shot in the arm so Cmd_SgtMajor was going to heal me. Walks up to me, goes to pull out his medic kit, accidently pulls the fire trigger instead, next thing you know....my spirit is hovering above my lifeless carcus while the only sound I hear is belowing laughter from everyone.

2) You really get into this game. It sucks you in. You'll definitely get a good idea how people will react in a similiar situation. For instance, we had a superior advantage on a hill sniping the hostiles. We weren't watching our back side which allowed a hostile to sneak behind us. That is where our advantage broke down. Next thing I hear is this quievering, panicked voice, "WE'RE GETTING OVER RUN, LET'S MAKE A RUN FOR IT.........I'M OUT OF HERE....ARE YOU COMING? I'M I'M I'M MAKING A BREAK FOR IT. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN!!!" Next thing I see is only an asshole and elbows as Ramius is trucking southwest down the hill.

Another funny thing was when the 3 of us were all in a jeep haulin ass down this road to get to the next objective, and all the sudden, Rob is slumped over dead in the driver seat with the jeep just rolling down the road toward a ditch. Me & Devil started bustin out laughing when we realized he got sniped right in the face and the jeep just kept on rolling right into more enemy fire!!! lol

I never got to play the CO-OP with anybody. I did play some games online, though.

I did like some of the realism of it, but other parts about it were terrible. I thought that the AI was just a bullshit thing to have in multiplayer.

I liked all of the physics of the game. The bullet-time and trajectories were pretty cool. I thought it was hard to figure out what they were at first. Sometimes it even seemd as though it was over-exaggerated. What seemed to me to be around a 100 yard shot was like 300 sometimes. So, some of it seemed fucked up because of the programed ranges. I was able to learn some of it though.

The realism that I hated was the size of the maps. The spawn points were on the other side of creation from where the battle was going on. God forbid you die and there not be a jeep at the spawn. It took forever to run all the way back.

Also, because of the same problem for the enemy, I would be sitting there with nothing to do for a while. We killed the entire enemy force a few times, and had to sit there and wait for them to run all the way back in. That was pretty boring.

In essence, playing this game was more like going hunting than playing a video game. You have to walk forever, then sit around and wait. Then, when you do shoot someone or get shot, the process starts all over again.

My review of this game would be to just go hunting instead of playing this game. Atleast that way, you will have the reward of food for all the boredom you suffer through. I would say that this game should not be bought, maybe not even rented. It was somewhat fun for the first two days, but sitting around and waiting on enemies to show up, or walking across creation got really old.
