Out Of Character (OOC)
1. Please be respectful to other members. We’re generally all pretty friendly people so if you could be generally friendly to everyone that would be great. Don’t harass people in the Cbox or via PMs that it’s their turn to post. If you remind them once that’s more than adequate for the day unless they specifically ask where they’re needed. Don’t get upset if they can’t respond immediately, people are really quite busy.
2. The Cbox is OOC only. We don’t need inter-character spats happening in there, that’s what threads are for.
In Character (IC)
1. Register with your character’s First and Last name, not their codename. If a character doesn’t have a human name in the comics and you’d like to ask for input I will allow you to register by that person’s codename until we find a replacement (which will be before you get accepted) For example: Scaleface doesn’t ever get a name in the comics, but you can be sure she has a real name even if she doesn’t use it often. Many of the Morlocks have this problem.
2. This Site has been rated-R by the Role-Playing Guild of America (alright so there’s no such thing but bear with me). Cursing is acceptable as long as it’s in character and there’s no gratuitous usage of it. I believe the F-bomb is the only word that gets censored into another word entirely so if you don’t want the site to play editor with your post it’s up to you to censor that word yourself with asterisks (*) or something. Sex scenes are a ‘fade to black’ thing. You can write all the way up to them heading into the bedroom and going over to the bed but you need to fade out before anything risqué occurs.
3. This is a Movie-verse RPG so all histories should be created with that in mind. Basically this means three things should appear within your bio. There should be a mention of the Liberty Island incident, even if it was “those crazy people fighting on Lady Liberty…those were the ugliest costumes he’d ever seen…spandex would be so much cooler”. [First password is Hope] Dark Cerebro AKA the headache felt round the world will have affected your character no matter who they are. Mutants and Humans both got targeted. And finally (and in my eyes most importantly) The Cure. Your character should have some sort of feelings about it. Mentioning these events does not mean your character was necessarily a key player, just that they know about them.
4. We don’t tolerate Plagiarism. If we find that you’ve copied anything in your application directly from wikipedia or some other place we will ask you to re-write it. I find re-writing powers in your own words helps to better understand them anyways.
5. It’s required that you post at least twice a week with each of your characters. We realize life is hectic so if you know you can’t do this let us know. Post in the absence forum or send us a PM letting us know what’s going on. If you disappear for a few weeks I’m going to e-mail you. If I don’t hear from you we’re deleting your accounts.
6. Proof-Read your posts, run them through spellcheck, whatever you need to do to make sure grammatical and spelling mistakes are minimal. This is an Advanced RPG and as such we expect a certain amount of literacy. We do reserve the right to deny you entrance before ever seeing a sample post should your writing abilities within that application seem to not be on the same level as current posters.
7. Posting Length: We expect a minimum of 3-4 paragraphs the majority of the time. We’re talking 4 paragraphs with 4-5 sentences within. [second password is LEGACY]. I understand sometimes posts run short due to there just not being much to say on the topic but in that case try to have at least 2-3. You will be flagged if you put up a 1 paragraph post. Also, if you could put a note at the bottom of a post saying when a thread is finished that would be incredibly helpful to the admin team during thread clean-ups.
8. You may play as many characters as you can effectively handle. If you start slouching on one we’ll PM you asking that you start using the character rather than keeping their seat warm or drop the character so someone else can play them.
9. Character deaths and Pregnancies I’d prefer get run by the admin team ahead of time, just so we have a head’s up. We reserve the right to tell you ‘no’ if we feel it won’t be conducive to the site.
10. Original Characters will not be accepted. Marvel’s done a marvelous job creating almost every power known to man and quite a few characters have very little history to speak of. I’m sure you can find someone to suit your needs.
11. No God-Modding. We take this rule very seriously and will request that you alter your post should you be found guilty of such a sin. [and the last password is DNA] To keep us all sane if you could just as a rule of thumb say to yourself “I can’t make a character do anything that they didn’t post somewhere else that they’ve done and if I wish to hit a character I’m not allowed to say the punch hit” that’s great. If there’s a little teeny tiny detail you would like to add in regarding another character
12. If we, the administrative team, find you guilty of breaking a rule we will PM you and tell you to fix it. Consider that your warning. If the problem is something that happens on a regular basis we will ban you. Rules are potentially subject to change. If a change is made we will notify you, the players, so you're aware of them.
