URGENT DOGS
Dogs at risk of PTS needing help. Please be sensible about offering a home to an unknown dog. In most cases we will offer backup but that may not mean that we can immediately take the dog on here if the home goes wrong.

Welcome to Poplar Farm Rescue Kennels, we are a "no kill" sanctuary for unwanted and special needs dogs, run, staffed and funded entirely by a team of about 40 volunteers and supporters. We currently have over 50 dogs in our care and welcome genuine offers of help, both practical and financial. More local foster homes particularly welcome. Please take a look around, visit our chat forum for an insight into our work and if you would like to help then please do drop us an email at-. poplarfarm.kennels@tiscali.co.uk Dogs adopted from here will generally have had a full veterinary check, vaccinations, treatment for parasites, neutering and will have been assessed in order to best find them a suitable home. There is no charge for this work, we merely hope for a voluntary donation to help us meet our costs which is likely to be between £120 - £150 without food and kennelling, for an uncomplicated dog, some will run up substantial vets bills but will still be treated regardless of cost, some will remain here for life.

Our mission is simply to prevent dogs being destroyed because they are unwanted, once a dog has been offered help we will take responsibility for that dog for its lifetime and we will endeavour always to do what is in the dogs best interest, we work for the dog not the owner or the adopter or for ourselves.

We will always try to find homes for the dogs that arrive here and to do that we need information about the adopter and their circumstances, hence the questions on our re-homing form which is the first step to adopting a dog. Not all the questions will be relevant to you and please feel free to add more information that is relevant.

We are NOT open to the public but will always do our best to meet and talk to individuals about their requirements or to answer any questions that they may have about dogs. Potential volunteers should first email us with their contact details and address and any special skills and requirements. Before you come into our home we would like to know who you are.

There are a number of very compelling reasons why we need to continue to reduce the numbers of dogs here. Whilst we will always take back any dog re-homed from here, regrettably we have taken the decision to suspend all new intake until further notice

Dave and Rachel .
