The database holds much information on Eymadald and all of the other regions on Amarr VIII. The core worlds of the empire are well documented indeed. You start of by reading about the lesser nobles that divide the region into a patchwork of miniature states.

Summarised history:

Eymadald is one of the regions on Amarr VIII that falls under the province called Tizca. Among all it’s neighbors in the province it is the most sparsely populated and predominantly covered in swamps and woodlands. The region was originally settled during the earliest colonisation and terraforming effort in the first centuries of the existence of the Amarr Empire.

Recently the region was one of those involved in the first Tizcan House war. It is now undergoing several major changes and transitions to the new regime of House Vindictus after that house claimed sovereignty by Edict of the Theology Council. House Vindictus had already occupied the region after defeating the former rulers of House Immoth by military means. The occupation became legalised only after Inquisitor Sahmotir made it so following the heresy of House Immoth that saw that house disgraced and all it’s titles and assets stipped away. The sovereignty rights were subsequently granted to House Vindictus that seemed to enjoy the Theology Council’s favour.

The region remained a hotbed of dissenters and partisans for a short while however. What made it worse was that House Dakani sympathisers had fled among the refugees from the Abaj valley into Eymadald to the North. These militant and disgruntled elements had in most cases lost everything after the military defeat in the valley, and formed resistance movements that based themselves in Lebora. There were some instances of violence, including a terrible bombing near the city that saw most of it’s treasured historical fortress site reduced to rubble. After the disbanding of House Dakani as a land-owning noble house the partisans lost their reason to exist and disbanded.

On 12/08/111 a new holder was appointed as regent of Eymadald and replaced it’s temporary governor that had failed to stabilise the region. The 14 lesser nobles and 5 magistrates of the region all swore vassalage and an oath of loyalty to their new ruler: Leopold Caine, who in turn is a vassal to House Vindictus. The first act of Lord Caine was to rename the capital’s former name: Lebora into: Dam-Caïn to symbolise that a great change is coming. Lord Caine has publically declared that his rule will focus on bringing peace and stability to all the region’s townships. There are three major pillars on which House Caine will build it’s plan for improvement. First and foremost will be the restoration of law and order to all the corners of the region. Secondly there will be a major effort to improve the regions poor biodiversity so that the ecosystem will become more balanced. And third and last Lord Caine emphasized that he wishes to improve the region’s stricken economy by doing away with a lot of it’s out-dated customs and overly bureaucratic trade registry that is deemed ineffective in it’s current form.

For a backwater of the Amarr Empire Eymadald seems like a place that has a lot going on. As you access the region's environmental reports it seems that it is not without it's problems.

Eymadald's ecology:

The surface of Eymadald has always mainly been covered in swamps and woodlands even before it was colonised by the Amarr Empire. The initial settlers did not deem a full landscaping program by the Empire’s terraformers worth the investment as the region held little natural resources. This has stunted the development of it’s ecology in an early stage. Later on the local populations did some work to improve it’s conditions, but the overall state of the region’s biosphere is poor. The main problem is the widespread unbalancing factors that prevent any serious effort for betterment of the environmental conditions. There are three major causes for this:

1. Falaja roots:
The origin of these roots has always been under debate by biologists and botanists ever since their discovery. Some claim that their unbalanced characteristics and total lack of any role in whatever ecology they are placed in suggest that they must be of alien origin. Others say that the roots must be the result of failed crossbreeding or even genetic tampering. Whatever the case, Falaja roots are a significant threat to Eymadald’s ecological balance and are especially common in the centre of the region. While the roots are not toxic to the touch or especially dangerous in a direct sense, they are inedible by any creature and grow at an explosive rate, constricting other plants to death or starving them by taking all the food sources with their extensive root systems. In some area’s the roots have completely overrun the surface, creating eerily silent “Falaya-bogs” that are generally avoided by the natives that consider them a bad omen. Farming communities often work together to cleanse the areas surrounding their settlements of the roots diligently.

2. Wild slaver hounds:
These are a common sight on any less urbanised agricultural region in the Amarr empire that make extensive use of slaver hounds to guard it’s slaves. The slaver hounds that escape from communities that hold large amounts of slaves revert to their feral instincts and continue to breed in the wild. The problem that presents itself is that centuries of selective breeding has made certain strains of slaverhounds into vicious killing machines that will not just kill for food and ignore the instinctive imperative to find a natural balance because that has been bred out of them. They will often keep killing whatever they find. In Eymadald’s already poor biodiversity they have easily risen to the top of the foodchain and further unbalanced the ecology. The local nobility take it upon themselves to go on hunting parties to kill the wild slavers for sport and glory, and it is also part of the rite of passage of young Eymadald nobles. The wild slaverhounds provide them with popular, if very dangerous sport.

3. Redpox:
The slave plantations around the central floodplains have many hundreds of kilometres of constructed drains and produced large areas of contaminated soils. Drains in areas with shallow contaminated soil may intercept dirty groundwater with the microbes that may cause the highly contagious ‘redpox disease’. This disease is difficult and expensive to treat and it claims thousands of slave lives every year. It causes painful lesions that damages the skin and allows infections and some of the native fungi to invade the body, with often fatal consequences. Any known mammal, including humans are very susceptible to Redpox and often a redpox epidemic will leave whole populations of wildlife dead in it’s wake.

As you browse the economic forecast you see many business opportunities in this region. All it takes is a bit of cash and a bright idea. Perhaps it is time to invest?

Eymadald’s economy:

The housewar that raged across the province from yr 108 and smoldered on all the way through yr 111 has left the Eymadald economy in poor shape. The inhabitants of the region had been jubilant in the first year of the war when their troops raided into the southern territories and returned with heaps of spoils. The situation soon reversed when House Vindictus called upon House Hegemur to assist them while they were engaged at the Dakani front. The technologically vastly superior Hegemur forces swiftly blockaded all traderoutes and demanded absurdly high toll fees for any shipment that contained anything else than humanitarian aid. Many small trading companies eventually went bankrupt as a result. There is still some resentment among the merchant class towards both Houses Vindictus and Hegemur. The economy has yet to pick up again, and the average unemployment rate has skyrocketed to the horrific total of 11,57% of the region’s work-able citizens. These desperate people are in dire need of relief and look towards their new governor with both hope and fear.

Eymadald’s industry consists for the most part of farms and plantations that produce a myriad of different spices due to it’s favourable climate. As a side effect the slavetrade also blossoms due to the massive slave workforce needed to operate the plantations and processing plants. Because of the ready availability of highly exotic flora in the region the pharmaceutical market is big and getting even bigger. A shift in disease patterns and the lifting of religious and governmental restrictions by Empress Jamyl Sarum’s Imperial Authorities set the stage for economical growth. However this growth potential is also accompanied by uncertainty among investors around the future of the Eymadald’s infamous regulatory environment, disease trends, prescription patterns, religiously motivated blockage on research and development capability, poorly allocated health care spending, and the poor infrastructure in the more outlying settlements.

Ugat & Rahek:
Ugat & Rahek (U&R) is a young corporation that was founded and remains based in Eymadald with their headquarter in Dam-Caïn. It’s warehouses and processing plants dominate the industrial area’s in the north, especially near the capital of Dam-Caïn. It has approximately 56.000 employees spread over 119 facilities in Eymadald. The company was founded by the businessmen Sipar Ugat and Argat Rahek in EST 12. By cleverly manipulating the market and exploiting the ancient regulations in Eymadald’s unique trade registry they have managed to maintain their monopoly on the spice-market for almost a century. The plantations of the region are more or less forced to sell their wares to the company by following a rigid guild system that is most favourable to U&R that is conveniently required to appoint the guild master, which has without exception always been the U&R CEO.
