Title: Hello... is anyone out there?
Description: AKA; How/Where is everyone?
Star eagle - July 26, 2010 12:23 AM (GMT)
My esteemed fellows,
it's been a while since I've posted here, and it's been a while since I've seen any real activity, whichI find quite sad, as you lot are all brilliant people and it would be a bit shit to see this comunity fade away into darkness.
Because of this perceived lack of activity I would like to enquire as to the well being and whereabouts of everyone, essentially, how the hell are you and what are you up to?
Regards
Star Eagle
PS.
Also a quick plug for my (and Lair Noir's)
Role Playing Forum; Black Tower Role Plays, if people aren't hanging out here you lot are more than welcome there.

Oh! Yes. Definitely around, just too busy to post anything as of now. I have, however, constructed some interesting twists for the star wars rpg - along with an actual full plotline.
I've also expanded on Syrion's background and character, which you'll be seeing a bit of soon enough. And by expansion, I don't mean simply more awesome upgraded traits, coz he's got enough of those... Heh. He'll start losing them soon enough.
So anyways, I'm around, just very busy.

I'm still here! Most likely in charge too ;) I'm just bumming around at the moment really, a bit of work here and there. Waiting on results to see if I'm off to uni or not.
Star eagle - July 28, 2010 03:23 PM (GMT)
Excellent... so there are at least two of you!
As to LB's Syrion statement; I think it's safe to say that Dark Future is dead sadly... seeing as you and I are the only ones interested in continuing it.
I tried re-booting it (starting again essentially with a bit of a fiddle with the setting etc) on Black Tower... however that's not really worked.
Lair Noir and I are having a re-work of the universe it's set in... and so far we've ended up with quite a drastically changed universe.
We'll probably scrap the Dark Future RP, and use the universe for short stories and the like... maybe set an RP somewhere in there for a future date, but not for a bit.
Hivey, which Universities are you looking into going to? And what to study?

Ah, pity. In that case, I should totally prepare a set of short stories revolving around Syrion and Sayuri, in the years of their youth, when they worked together.
Although it is a bit of a strange set of tales, as she's about ten years younger then him... Heh.
Either way. Can you by any chance make Syrion and Sayuri official lore characters by any chance?
Star eagle - July 29, 2010 11:03 AM (GMT)
There will definitely be room for them, however the world will be a different place.
We've been writing history and have reached about 3500 AD, and you have Earth which is polluted, grim and in the grip of three major super powers (New British Empire, America and the Pacific Alliance), meanwhile there are the newly independent Solar Colonies (Asteroid space stations where everything is industrial, dark, grimy and there;s no time for fun, Europa where it's effin' freezing and a bit dark, Mars which is undergoing terraforming but currently unless you have an atmospheric suite you can't leave the cities and towns, and a city on the moon which is gradually fading away into a ghost town)... meanwhile 3 separate Interstellar Sleeper Ships have left Earth, each one representing one of the 3 super powers on earth, one headed towards a planet which lies within a turbulent alien empire, the second off into uninhabited space where eventually immoral corporations will begin messing with people's DNA bringing about new species of humanity, and a 3rd off to a relatively peaceful area of space near a more or less benevolent species' planet where they will develop new technology and begin to take a place on the galactic stage.
However there is an awful lot more history to write... especially concerning Earth and Mars.

Keep telling yourself that...
I've graduated and am now back in Solihull/Birmingham. Should probably find a job sometime...

Well. According to his title, he outranks you by several thousand points.
@star - How come the Earth is all nasty and grim. In all likelihood we'll have solved most of the major planetary issues by the next century if we've actually managed to hang on that long. In all likelihood, pollution will be long gone, excepting nuclear, but that would be the result of a nuclear holocaust, not general resource dumping.
Star eagle - July 31, 2010 11:08 AM (GMT)
Time line goes thus.
Over the next eighty years we increase our knowledge of technology such as AI, super computing, various weapon and medical technologies etc.
Then around 2089 some mad man initiates a nuclear war... knocking the survivors back into the dark ages... a couple of hundred years of medieval style living till Hecate (the same AI that appeared in Dark Future) is uncovered and begins teaching people how to make important technologies again.
Then we have around a thousand years of empire development and space exploration where the powers that be are far more interested in grabbing land and defending it than cleaning up their mess... plus there's the residue of an almost global nuclear holocaust, plus launching chemical rockets into space is not so good for the environment.

Also good to see you Av :)

*pokes head around corner* I'm still here, if anybody's interested. Still waiting for those drated GCSE results (Yeah, I know, let's all go "aww" at the youngling :P)
Going to 6th form probably, come September. Had another course in mind, but it was cancelled, so A-levels it is. Still writing, a little, although apparantly I only write when I'm stressed, and considering it's been a 12 week holiday, there hasn't been much of that.
Good to see you all

Dude, I thought you were all set for the IB.
Yes, I'm still alive. No, I don't have any time for this kind of thing anymore. Its a shame to see it die, but if anyone cared enough to put the effort in, they would have done so. Its also a shame about PokéRP, but I may write that up in story form one day in the far future. Who knows.
TheAdmiral - August 18, 2010 01:21 PM (GMT)
I'm not really here, sorry about that. Quite busy with a lot of other things, to be fair.
But, you may be happy to know that I'm in my last year of College with A's in Dutch, History, Geography, Art, Maths, Computer Science, General Sciences and Social Science, A*s in English and Philosophy and a very respectable C in Latin (no really! It's a lousy language that everyone fails anyway).
I am now working very hard to keep that up, so that I may be admitted to Oxford (which would be pretty neat, no?). That and other things. But I'm fine, thanks. :)
Lord Blackstaff - August 18, 2010 03:31 PM (GMT)
I am currently starting my second semester of my second year of uni. With another game to make, and enough people with the right knowledge to hopefully see the thing through as well!
But either way, lots to do, and nanowrimo is just round the corner, so I'm already starting my planning and preparation for that, which is taking a fair bit of time. Lots of complex stuff to juggle and a two solid storylines need proper definition :D.
So I've not been all that available for posting heh.

Lord Blackstaff - August 30, 2010 03:38 PM (GMT)
Rich, possibly famous, and mad as a hatter.
And also cantankerous, and a gamer.
Star eagle - August 31, 2010 08:03 PM (GMT)
Good to see people are still alive and seem to be doing well with life.
As to what I'll be like at 50, an old and probably bitter teacher.

redundant adjective there. ;)
No idea what the future holds in store for me. Any guesses?
Schmeag - September 8, 2010 11:07 PM (GMT)
You fail, but get accepted into college, then again fail the first year of exams. You form a band and name it after your high school, which after being renamed achieves mainstream success within 5 years. The rest, of course, is history.
Darmort - September 8, 2010 11:40 PM (GMT)
Subtle hint there?
Lemme see, me at 50...
Probably yelling at the kids on video games trying to get them to use teamwork and stop spamming grenades to get kills and actually work on the objectives... >.>
And otherwise happy :P
Schmeag - September 9, 2010 07:09 AM (GMT)
yea, how about you divorce your wife and marry a wacko Japanese artist-activist and get four bullets in the back after coming home from an album signing? ;)

It's Georgie! :P Not Paul.
