Someone has a fanboy...

Roo - December 7, 2009 04:00 AM (GMT)
And someone has a jealousy! :P

And someone has a jealousy! :P

Why would I be jealous of one of my potential players?

Indeed. Why would I need fan's in the first place? To bolster my ego? That implies that I need others to inspire confidence in myself, and thus a lack of understanding of self, and acceptance of myself. Why should I need others to strive when I can do it myself.

:P

Observe, my good man. Perhaps you will your conclusions contradictory, no? :)

Roo - December 7, 2009 06:07 AM (GMT)
I asked for no fans. I do not need to feed my ego, and I couldn't care less if anyone disparages me. I do my thing because I have complete faith in myself and, apparently, that has brought me fans.

As it happens, my own thing happens to be trollin'. :P
A wise man once said "Don't take anyone here seriously, least of all me." ;)

*groan*

You two are going to start FWI (Forum War I), aren't you? I wonder if it would be better to just lock you both in the same room for a while and only let you out when one of you's either dead or you've made sweet love to each other. *cough* Sorry, what did I say?

Roo - December 7, 2009 12:24 PM (GMT)
Methinks, flaxes, that you may have a problem with sensing the tone of a conversation... :P

Flailing Axes - December 7, 2009 01:40 PM (GMT)
methinks, Roo, that somebody has a serious sugar issue...how many posts ahve you had in two days!?!?

Hawkeye - December 7, 2009 06:29 PM (GMT)
i think its a good thing if Roo is encouraging people to pos, even if he is as mad a box of frogs.

Star eagle - December 7, 2009 06:31 PM (GMT)
Could be worse... could be a box of spiders.

Also I'd like to point out that it's not just Roo making people post. I've done some of that with the Dark Future update!

Roo - December 7, 2009 06:34 PM (GMT)
More of a free time problem than a sugar problem... Is it so wrong to want to talk to my friends? Must I be vilified for my passion, a passion ye share!? Where is the justice?

Also, cause this is Idle Banter, is it just me or does anyone else think Wiz locking the FNG thread was a tad over reactive? That was a fun conversation. If he's so worried about labels he could have moved the thread surely...

Star eagle - December 7, 2009 06:44 PM (GMT)
I don't thinks mods can move threads... admins can... not sure about mods though.

Granted, it may have been a fun conversation, we need to keep up some kind of control. Its not a great image of organisation of every thread changes topic every 5 minutes, and its also much more difficult to moderate. Plus its not fair on some people, who may want to discuss something, but because the thread has come hideously off topic, they can't. What if someone detested talking about music, but every thread they wished to post in devolved into such a discussion? They'd be screwed and stop checking the thread, and even if it did end up back on topic, they wouldn't know. Now granted locking it stops anybody posting, but the majority of the regulars had greeted gingusdan, and as such, there was no real need for the thread to stay open, especially if it was being taken off topic. Its more for the mods to have to keep an eye on, and it makes absolutely no difference to you to post in the designated music thread than that one. If you really want, I'll happily move the offending posts to the music thread. But the fact of the matter is, you were given warning, and you just carried on, so I had no choice but to lock it. Over reacting would have been formally warning you. ;)

Roo - December 7, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Dude. You KNOW everyone here. What is there to moderate? Everyone's so fuckin' nice here! It's awesome! I don't see the harm in allowing us to chat to the new guy in a thread of his own creation. For RPGs I understand the need for control, but for an intro thread?
We were introducing him to what life in this forum is like. And by his own account he enjoyed it. Everyone involved in the thread enjoyed it, and if they didn't they would say something, the offending party would apologize and all would be well.

All I'm sayin is that locking a thread because people are having a conversation seems a mite dystopian to me...

[MOD EDIT: The fact of the matter is that we can't make exceptions just because 'we know you guys.' And I'm sorry, but you weren't talking to gingusdan. You were having a conversation about music, parallel to another thread with a similar conversation. It makes it much easier for everybody (hell, for you, even!) if thats all in one place, surely. Unless you just wanted to post the same thing twice, in which case its posting for the sake of it (which is really ridiculous since neither forum gives you extra post count.) Now lets drop it. I love ya, Roo, and the last thing I want is for us to get off on the wrong foot. :P But the forum has standards and we can't just ignore them simply on the basis of who's challenging them. ~ Wiz]

gingusdan - December 7, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Roo, to be perfectly honest, I don't care if my thread was closed, it had served it's purpose.

Now: :ontopic:

Roo - December 7, 2009 06:56 PM (GMT)
I am on topic! The topic of this thread is about me being a revolutionary, so I'm revolting! (hehe... :P )

Good, first step to beating a problem, is admitting you have one :D

I never saw the post of your above mine, but my point stands.

*pokes smelly Roo with a long stick*
Have a shower you revolting Roo!

EDIT: Damnit FNG beat me to it.

Roo - December 7, 2009 07:25 PM (GMT)
Hell, I beat you too it! That's what the (hehe...) was all about! Wiz, I hate to press a point but I just want to say one last thing and then I'll drop it.

A thread is a conversation and a conversation is not a static thing. It is silly, to my mind at least, to stop a conversation because it has changed topic. The moderators job is not to follow the letter of the rules but to understand why the rules are there and follow the spirit of them. As such an introduction thread should introduce people to the forum, and this is what the forums like. We go off topic, we debate things and we have a laugh. It's why I came back... It's why we're such good friends. And it just feels wrong to me to end a conversation simply because we talked about music...

With that said, I'm sorry for any nuisance I've caused but it's what I do best. :P
