Title: Google Ads

DaZZaBoY - January 10, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
Anyone pissed right off with the latest fad of littering websites with small Google ads? I am.. and although it's a pay per click type thing and could ultimately be worth a few quid to you (depending on your user traffic), the links often jump to general page listings full of shite.

Anyone using these themselves or know of anyone who's actually made a few bob out of it?

If it isn't worth your while then why the hell be like the rest of the sheep and make your site look complete crud. Anyone enlighten me here?

I know of one guy running Bots to get clicks while he was asleep. I know the bots had to get more clever to simulate mouse movement as well as the clicks (the clever fuckers!) but 30 to 40 bucks a month for number of clicks aint too bad. Get a fast Muti Core CPU & get more clicks....go figure!
However, having experienced these kind of sites as a Browser of such an infected site, I`d totally agree with you Daz.
No, I absolutely detest Pop-ups (P0rn pop-ups are tolerable depending on Subject of P0rn offered  ) but links to utter shite are just not tolerated.

Perhaps these fucks making their site look like crud know NO better m8. I find it hard to understand myself. Maybe they are trashing a mirror site & it don`t matter!? Very strange!

I use AdSense on my sites and I've just moved into the $100/month category, so basically I now get a payment every month from Google, unless it's a quiet time like December.

They have to be unobtrusive though. I tend to limit it to just a couple of small ads on a page. To make money, you either need one hell of a site or lots of little ones. I've also found that the more specialised the site is, the more likely people are to click your ads.

I think I`ve got all Google ads blocked anyway, so maybe I just haven`t noticed .

Can you think of a particularly bad example ?

Massive skyscraper ads in a site that's not designed for them - they look pretty f*cking stupid.
