The first of the winter storms have come and gone and Obsidian has been covered in soft, white sheet of snow. A calm silence has fallen over the town creating a peaceful setting all around. Amidst this quiet, undisturbed background the mayor has decided to schedule a holiday for the inhabitants of the island to take some time out of their busy schedules and come together to celebrate the changing of the seasons and play in the fresh fallen snow.
<br><br>
Sunstone Park has been decorated in traditional holiday fair. Lights and music set the festive mood and a large douglas fir tree has been setup at the center of the party. The tree is decorated but remains unlit waiting for an appropriate time of the mayor’s choosing. Several of the merchants of the community have set up stands around the giant fir tree. Hot chocolate, apple cider, fresh ginger bread cookies and almost every other holiday favorite is being provided for festival goers all at no cost.

A voting table has been setup at each of the park’s entrances to allow villagers a chance to nominate individuals for this year’s Winter Royalty. All party goers are asked to stop by the table as they enter the park and nominate their favorite male and female villager thirteen years of age and up to be considered on the voting ballet. A villager must receive two nominations to be considered and voting will commence once all nominations have been counted.

In addition to the food there are also several competitions and activities scheduled for the day and everyone is invited to participate and have fun. Anyone wanting to participate should go to the appropriate area and read the rules of each competition. Signups are being held so make sure to sign yourself up before the registration deadline.
<br><br>
A special speech has been planned for later to commemorate the day and the mayor will make an announcement when the speech and lighting ceremony will commence. Until that time however everyone is invited to move about the grounds, participate in one of the many activities and competitions scheduled, or wander off by themselves to find their own fun.

OOC: Okay so here's the deal guys. This thread is to be used for all nominations for the winter prince/princess and king/queen. All characters ages thirteen to seventeen are available for the child award and eighteen and up for the adult award. Characters will need to nominations to be put on the ballet and all nominating will be closed by April 18th. After this voting will commence. Please use this thread only for nominations and enjoy the festival.<br><br>
