Thomson University Degree Information

There are four types of degrees available. Each degree has its own course and year requirements in order to earn that degree, so please look over each degree and decide which is the best for you. Every degree can be earned by attending the University full or part time. The only difference is the amount of time required to earn that degree. The number of courses stays the same.

Degree Information and Requirements

Certificate of Study

Time to Complete: 1 year full time / 1+ years part time

Courses: 5 required (3 of which within the same degree program)

*A certificate of study is not a full degree, rather it is more like an extension of a high school degree with the focus in one area of study. This is for those who would like to gain more knowledge within a specific area without having to earn associates or bachelors degree.

Associates Degree

Time to Complete: 2 years full time / 3 and a half part time

Courses: 10 required (5 within the same degree program)

Bachelors Degree

Time to complete: 4 years full time / 6 years half time

Courses: 20 required
Major - 16 / 20 (must include 5 classes from another program)
Minor - 4 / 20 (must be within the same degree program)

* There are two parts to the bachelors degree. First the Major which consists of a mix general courses within the selected degree program. Sixteen out of the Twenty total required courses will go under the Major. The Minor is any class from another program or even within the selected one. Four out of the twenty total required courses will go under the Minor.

Masters Degree

Time to complete: 2+ years full time and part time

Courses: 7 required (all in one degree program)

*To get a masters degree you must have a bachelors degree first.

Degree Programs

Here is the list of available degree programs. Each program consists of a group of classes and each class has four levels. There are no requirements for any of the classes (but the levels for each class must be done in order). For some classes there is the general class, then there are specific areas of study within that class.
