HURRICANE AZURE

Date and Time: Wednesday, Summer 4th, 09 || 11am
Mood: Frantic.

Hurricane Azure is sweeping toward Ocean of Stars at a breakneck pace and has spared no expense in its fury. The small island, only just beginning to fully recuperate with the effects of the earthquake to devastate it three years prior, is about to suffer yet another natural disaster that threatens to bring the islanders to their knees.

The rain began early Tuesday morning. It brought with it wind of epic proportions, only hinting at the true fury only a day behind it. And then, that Tuesday night, there was the strange eerie feeling of everything being absolutely still and silent, as if this hurricane was merely folklore made up by people wanting to drive back toward a faith in the Harvest Goddess. It was the stubborn people, however, that insisted it was but the calm before the storm.

They were right.

As Wednesday‘s sun rose, bringing with it more rain and wind than could be imagined, the Mayor finished his preparations: his entire mansion was opened for any and all refugees who sought shelter during the hurricane, equipped fully with food, water, beds, first aid kits, and medical staff to help all who came. The windows were boarded down, sandbags were dragged in to stop any bizarre floodwater that managed to stay at the top of the giant hill, and entertainment was even provided in the form of his extensive personal library. If anyone approaches, no questions are asked. They are merely welcomed in, given their beginning rations, and gestured to a bed with a few brief instructions.

For the next five hours, the storm built in intensity, until it was shaking any poorly constructed house and sending leaves and flowers flying through the air in strange miniature cyclones. It was when the clock ticked over to 11am, however, that Hurricane Azure truly and mercilessly struck.

Tree limbs begin to snap and fly through the air. Unattended animals are picked up and swirled away. Sunstone Beachway‘s houses are completely destroyed in a matter of minutes. Before an hour has passed, strong flooding will course through every low area, especially ones near a water supply, and leave half of the island looking as if it should be underwater in the first place.

Let the panic begin.

NOTE: This thread is for anyone in transit during the hurricane in general (though we’re not sure who would be stupid enough to do that) and is here to serve as a guiding light for any description necessary for those of you making your own threads on the hurricane’s D-Day. An aftermath thread will be posted later, and pinned topics will be placed in every sub forum to describe the damage done to those specific areas.
