Here's the minutes. Some important stuff relating to E.R. Jackman and the dinner on November 9th.
Agricultural Executive Council meeting October 5, 2006 CH2M Hill Alumni Center 6:35pm The first meeting of the Agricultural Executive Council was called to order by President Jonathan Garrett at 6:35 pm on October 5, 2006 in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center. Role call was taken. No minutes were available, as this is the first meeting of the year. Officer Reports The senators had nothing to report as they have not yet attended their first ASOSU meeting of the year. Old business Jonathan discussed the Fall Kickoff BBQ and thanked everyone for coming. Next, he discussed the Officer Retreat that was held last weekend to promote leadership and goal planning. New Business -The Agricultural Executive Council Officers introduced themselves. -A sign up sheet was sent around for club representatives to give their club name, and the names and contact information of the club president, advisor and representatives if available. -Kim Marshall announced that this year’s New Field magazine is out!!! It includes valuable and interesting information including articles of clubs in the College of Agriculture. -Dr. Lee Cole discussed the ER Jackman support program ER Jackman foundation supports students who are interested in internships to further their education goals. ER Jackman will supplement the amount made by interns. In order to apply, your internship must meet the following criteria ----Volunteer or low pay position ----Direct correlation to educational goals ----Strong recommendation from faculty member ----Student must have a GPA of 2.75 or better ----Must list the student’s financial contribution ----Write student essay (judged on content and quality) The foundation has $15,000 to use for winter term Applications for winter term are due Oct. 16 and are available in student advancement office - Amanda Owen discussed the etiquette dinner that will be held November 9. It will be free to club presidents. Everyone in the College of Agriculture will be invited, but will be asked to pay a small fee. At the dinner the following topics will be addressed: Table instructions – silverware, etc. Dinner conversation for workforce Know how to speak to future/current boss How to dress for occasions Dinner will be business formal. Invitations and fliers will go out to clubs. E.R. Jackman and Deans will be there. It will be a great opportunity to mingle and talk to important people and would be great for everyone to attend. More information will be given at next meeting. Announcements Next Ag. Exec Meeting Wednesday Oct. 18 Withycombe 109 6:00pm Next Wednesday Oct. 11 Strand 111 Collegiate FFA Meeting everyone is invited! Interested in helping out with New Fields next year?
