London,

Supposedly the most beautiful city of the nineteenth century. Filled with life, culture, happiness, peace, prosperity. Flourishing under the watchful eye of the Law and His Majesty, King George III. Successful men and women own multiple houses. Children frolic in the streets, even the weather is fine, for London.

But this is just a screen...

London,

The bleakest city of them all. Murders left and right. Poverty forcing people into the streets to beg. The Law is just a twisted institution with bribes, corruption, and more death. For a while it seemed as though it was just a phase and that it would end. But, oh no, it's just the beginning. And now that they've seen exactly what the city can do to itself, everyone agrees that there's
No Place Like London.

Her parents married and had children at a young age, and for 8 years they were very happy. But, when Lilith was 7, Harriet was 3 and William was 2, Marianne caught a fever and passed away. Lilith also had the fever, but she managed to fight it and made a recovery within weeks. Marianne was buried on a cold December’s evening, which is why Lilith cannot stand winter.

After that, Lilith grew up quickly and helped her father raise her siblings. Her Aunt Lucy and her husband Ben moved to the other side of the city with their daughter, Joanna. She never heard from her extended family after that.

QUOTE
Lilith put her needle down with a smile. Her newest creation was beautiful, an absolute masterpiece. She was convinced that she could earn five pounds for it, at least! A pale blue gown with delicate white embroidery lay on the table before her. The sleeves were silken puffs, and the skirt was simple but beautiful. Checking to ensure that the piece of fabric she used as a curtain was drawn over the window, she carefully slipped off her old black gown and replaced it with her wondrous handiwork. It fitted perfectly.
“I look…” she murmured, staring at herself in the tarnished mirror.
