A cake would be really good...wink.gif tongue.gif

Seriously, I just don't have the motivation and time to take on something like this for the moment.

BUT, if I get paid exactley what I get from my work, I would think about it wink.gif tongue.gif

I'd like to start doing some serious programming. I've done some text based java games. A cricket simulator all fixed around random numbers. I thought it was alright. But I wanna start c++ etc. Did Delphi for a while but lost the plot. Would love it if someone could like make a flash or movie that will show you exercises and projects with the solution if you fail or can't crack it etc.

I'm interested in learning to program. It's not someting I'm likely to do in the short term, but within the next 5 years is my goal.

What language is a good starting point for taxt based sims?

and how about a civilization-type game?

VB/VB.NET is a good starting language.. but if you wanna use graphics and stuff like that in the future then you should consider using C++ from the very beginning.

Thanks smile.gif

I did learn a tiny bit of pascal (don't remember what version) in high school, back in about '92 or something, so I was wondering, how different is c++ from pascal?

and

What's the learning curve like for c++?

After one month, I decided to reply you..

C++ is much different than (Object) Pascal, but that is relative, since you don't have to use all of features C/C++ gives you..

Also, if you're going to do games for windows which will use low-level API's such as DirectX, OpenGL, etc (not Windows GDI) you will have to learn them alongside C/C++.

Though, there's a simpler solution - using cross-platform game libraries such as Allegro and SDL.
