I was just surfing the net and decided to look up the Scolastic site. If you haven't been there in a while ... I would suggest you go there and see what they're talking about on the Harry Potter books. Actually I happened across the archive discussion chamber. There they ask the young readers of Harry Potter, about certain questions.
Here's just a part of one question I came across.

"As we all know, adding the powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood creates the "Draught of Living Death" a very powerful sleeping potion......"

That question wanted to ask the readers what kind of potion would you come up with and what would it be for?

Let's look for a moment at some scriptures that pertain to some of the words posed in this question.

Wormwood; Is found in the book of Revelations. Look at chap. 8 verse 11. It talks about the Third Trumpet: The Waters Struck. verse 11; and the name of the Star is Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

In the potion above, "an infusion of wormwood" "a very powerful sleeping potion"
hmmmm... look at the scripture. Get the idea? Many men died from the water because it was made bitter.

Making potions is witchcraft. Here's what the Bible says about witchcraft. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry, Because you have rejected the word of the LORD,.... I Samuel 15:23.

I could do a Bible study just on what I read in that one question! It amazes me that these books of Harry Potter, are being published in all languages. Read by millions and millions of children. And adults. And why not, it gives children something to read.... and its something they enjoy! But do you know what its doing to their souls? Do you know what its doing to their young minds? Many children read these stories, and it gives them ideas about wanting to put hexes on their teachers...Spells on their families and friends... This is what happens when we let them fix their minds on evil. They want to rebel.

Can you imagine what would happen if children read the words of the Bible?? What good things could come about! Learning about Jesus! Learning about the miracles that took place! Imagine the possibility!

Do you know Jesus? Do you know what He can do in your life? Miracles.
