A lot of the time when i want to do a quick test render to view a graphic im making in MAX i use this technuiqe a lot.... gives u a good insite into what you will be getting.

1) First of all Create a Plane and center it in the world and make it 28000 x 28000 (this just makes it easy in so u dont see edges n stuff)

2) Create any shape you want in the perspective view.

3) go to Create > Lights > Standard Lights > Skylight it doesnt matter where the Sky Light is aslong as it is ABOVE all of your Objects.

4) Go to Render, then click on advanced lighting and in the drop down menu click Light tracer....... thats it no more settings to use click render and look at the image.....

I understand there is no images or any in detail descriptions, but this is for the people who know max fairly well and have compalations they want to preview.

Any Questionnes and il see if i can answer.
