Fate Full Event
Mystery! A happening and a battle!
Act I – Introductions

A caravan of traders has received a strange note! They will be robbed mid journey on their trade route... Won't someone please help them? They've already hired a strong mercenary to help them... but they're still worried. Something seems odd about him...

The trade route is quite long. It will start off in Greatwood, where the merchants have set up camp. They requested two strong warriors to escort them along their route, one to lead the path and the other to bring up the rear.

The Merchants have three wagons, each drawn by two horses. There are five Merchants in total. And there is the Hero they already hired. He is supposed to be famous around this area.

They await their last Mercenary and have received word that he is on his way.

Cavada ran a hand across his forehead and threw off some sweat. It had been a nice long walk from New Avalon to get here. Word had already been sent of his departure so wherever this merchant caravan was they were probably looking for him. He did his best to stay in plain view by on the road while looking around the immediate area and staying rather close to his exit. He was sure their camp must've been around here somewhere.

Coming into view along the main path was the Merchant Caravan. Their three wagons were organized in a circle around the sides of road. There was a small camp fire on the center of the road, where it'd be difficult to spread to the surrounding forest. Most of the merchants were sitted around the fire prodding it and stirring a big pot of stew. Some where rummanging through their things for what ever they wanted, while the first Mercenary to arive was off at the far edge of the camp from Cavada. He was staring down the path, the path that lead to Deadwood.

Okay so now was the part where he had to make a good first impression and more importantly, not scare them off. He made sure his weapon was sheathed and walked up to the camp at a calm pace. When he reached the camp he tried to quickly spot the head merchant and say, "I believe you got word that I was headed this way? I'm the mercanary out of the traveler's guild."

Dylan, Sven, and Kern where the three around the camp fire. "Ah hello," Sven, the oldest of the three said standing up to greet Cavada. He moved forward and exstended his hand to shake hands.

"My name is Sven, this is Dylan," Sven gestured with his other hand to the man on his left, then to the man on his right, "He is Kern. Kale and Lain are around the camp somewhere. That mercenary will be your partner, his name is Sen," he explained.

"We've asked one of you to bring up the rear and the other to lead the way. You two can decide which of you will be doing what," The man said as politely as he could, but he and his friends were paying good money for this protection, he didn't worry about offending the Mercenary, since the money would at least have him stay.

Cavada nodded as they were introduced, but didn't bother to introduce himself as he forgot he hadn't done that yet. After the formalities were over he headed for the other mercinary to discus who would be taking which guard spot. "Hello friend," Cavada began at a short distance from the man, "I hear we're working as the guards so I wanted to know if you had any preferances for which end of the caravan you wanted to guard, I certainly dont care."

The mercenary turned to Cavada, and was a little put off by his apearance. He forced a smile anyway, and responded, "Yeah, same here... but since you just arrived and I've already been resting here, you can watch the rear. You'll be able to sit on the back of the last wagon. If you take the front position you'll be walking a little ahead of the group," The man left both options open for Cavada.

"I can do that," Cavada replied, taking the back option. He nodded to the other mercinary and headed towards the back to guard there. Unfortunately he didn't know which caravan was going to be the rear one until they got moving. As he stood in the middle of the camp trying to figure out which was the rear. After a while he gave up and just stood in the back of the circle.

The mercenary followed Cavada, "Very well, we can change shifts as we go if we feel the need. If you encounter anything please call out to me, and I'll do the same for you... Though there is more I should talk to you about..."

The Mercenary continued, "The note is quite disturbing for one thing... it was very specific on where we would be attacked... it said mid journey, that would be some where in Darkwood. It listed certain details, though the original is gone now... I can tell you of what I was told. The note mentioned a small pond besides the road where the robbing will take place. It's a rather famous pond among travelers of these parts... you see the tree line beyond the pond... when lighting strikes behind it... the loose hanging branches and trees often cast a shadow on the pond that looks... as if people are hanging from the trees... It's just a rumor really, but many claim to have seen the odd phenomon... I'm not certain if it's connected with us but I can tell you the legend in more detail..." The knight explained.

"Also more about the note it's self... the hand writing was poorly written and written in blood. Also oddly enough the note vanished early this morning... I'm not certain... how or why," He explained further.

"Beyond that I don't trust some of these merchants..." He said making sure no one was around to hear him. The merchants had gone to their various wagons to prepare.

"We should not rule out that the people here are not the ones who left the note... it would also explain what happened to the note... since none of them can agree to who had it last... Perhaps if it was one of them, they regretted making the note after I arrived and word of your arival came...." The man explained the situation as fast as he could, since they did not have much time before the caravan would move out, and they'd be seperated.

"Yes we should switch off shifts every so often I suppose," Cavada responded as they moved about the camp but listened intently as the mercinary explained what he knew. Always being the one to realize the most important detail, Cavada asked, "Why write a note in blood, I mean, it moves all over the place and you can't write with a point so you need really big paper for a short note." Realizing that he would most likely be getting a glance from the mercinary at this point he quickly covered his own back, "I'll keep an eye on all of them and anything else I can."

(OoC: Obliviously I like using sarcasm with this character.)
